I am a Ghanaian stayed in Nigeria between the years of 80 and 83 as a shoe shine boy (sobatta) anytime I hear chief Ebenezer Obey song I just put down my box and listen with joy,up to now I am in love of it.
Reading through the comments I came away with the thought that once in this country tribe was secondary to our basic humanity. We were one in music, in national aspirations and goodwill to one another. Can’t we have that nation back? I am Yoruba, but the music that turned my life around permanently and irreversibly was the Voice of Cross by brother Lazarus and Emmanuel, Igbos. My cousin bought the album in Aba while coming from Calabar where his parents were living and presented it to me as Christmas gift. That was 1984. I’m not sure how many albums alter the course of people’s lives the way this album altered mine. Fundamentally we’re same people under God with a mandate to build a nation that will be the pride of Africa and the black race everywhere. We have the education, native intelligence, intellectual drive, energy, resources and manpower to do this. May the Lord restore us again to our first love.
The people who killed that Nigeria are those who would like to lay claim to other people's region, while not even allowing any reciprocity in their region. These talk about One-Nigeria, but it is all talk. It is only one Nigeria when they're buying up and laying claims to other people's land. Nigeria can NEVER be one as long as we have that thinking, attitude, and behavior.
I'm Hausa and gew up listening to this yoruba Baba. There's no Nigerian music we didn't listen to growing up. Proudly Nigerian 🇳🇬🇳🇬 through n through the 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This guy was not limited by tribe. Everyone listen to Baba

Baba Obey used his songs to destroy tribalism in Nigeria. I'm an Igbo man but Ebenezer Obey's albums littered our music cabinet in my house, those days. My Dad got us all hooked to him. Sadly, they dont make artists like him anymore.
What now happened? Did you expect him to sing tribal hatred. Nigerians still had some food so fight never run red. But give him he was a star. But my greatest Salut is him genuinely becoming a born again follower of Jesus Christ. God is great. These songs minister to the flesh so let us follow the gifted man of songs. Glorybto God for his life.
Am Nigerian🇳🇬, born in togoland🇹🇬 and grew up there. In those days, I was tired listen to it.my father used to play it every morning. But now that I grow up and understand life I enjoy it.
My amiable late Dad fondly called folks in our village back in the old good days by the name Ebenezer as " Ebenezer Obey". Thus in reverence to the great Obey, we grew up calling anyone bearing the name Ebenezer as Obey in our locality; Ebonyi State

Extraordinary music, I am not a Yoruba man, but this music transcends Tribe. May God Blessed Ebenezer Obey and my Late Father for exposing us as kids to this wonderful Timeless work.
Well said, I only learnt the words of this and his other songs after relocating to Naija with my parents in the 70s as a teenager and even if I didn't know the words, his voice and the music always captivates the listener ❤❤
My father made love Ebenezer obey music with passion since when I was young and his always ever green. If you are with me in 2021 pls let us gather here
2021, who's here? So many memories with the songs. My father passed in 2020. He used to play these songs on the turntable. We never appreciated them then now we understand better. Thank you Pa Ebenezer for making such golden music.
Hello. I am a white man. I am 58. I grew up in England but my parents are from Ireland. I don't believe in God but I try to believe in people. Your tribe, your skin, your language, your passport, your God... it makes no difference to me. One world, one people. But whenever I meet a Nigerian I always tell them how much I love the music of the Chief Commander. Sometimes I tell people who aren't from Nigeria about him too. If I can listen to this man sing and play his guitar every day I can smile.
My friend Emeka who owns an electronic shop back in the days at the post office market in Maiduguri when Borno was home of peace, he loves to listen to this song early mornings lol.. missed him and missed Naija.
This is one of my best songs of all times, I listen to it on repeat at work and during my commute to and from work. Yet, I can hardly understand a word of what he is saying. Truly classic, helps keep the good memories of Nigeria fresh on my mind. Thank you Ebenezer Obey.

My dad was an Urhobo, but all Ebenezer Obey album. This is one of my favourite. Missing my parents so much. We always enjoyed this together. God bless you baba.
This is by far my favorite Obey song and probably among my best 10 songs of all time. I love Obey, even more as a child. I grew up to this song as a boy from Edo state and instantly felt a bond inside each time I heard the music play. It's still fresh on my mind how I would stand still to listen to the entire song on my way before continuing on any errand for my dad. In those days, what a bright moment it was to sit around my Dad while he interprets the meaning of this and many of Obey;s songs. Truly a legend! When they say, "good old days", this is what they mean! Thank God for Obey!!
I am glad this has exceeded one million viewers. Awesome reminder of by-gone safe Nigeria where everyone was a family without the awful divide, poverty of the mind and wickedness of Nigeria and some Nigerians today. Grass is not greener on the other side and one day the offspring of our looters will not taste the goodness destined for Nigeria. Amen

Chief Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi's songs have brought me up morally and psychologically from my days as a toddler until now. I have never come across any other musician that has impressed my imaginations like Obey Commander has done either local or foreign. He is indeed a God-sent. I pray to God to grant him long life and good health.
We will rock this till the end of time. What are you listening to nowadays?, music that does not make sense, exposure to bad things, unimaginable things one can. never thought of, is that one you listen to these days that you call music?, may be you don't have people of the 60s, 70s, even 80s that is why you are asking who still listens to this at this time. This worth listening to pls. It has really made my day.

Good day everyone everything said about this great and iconic artist. Am from Delta state but born& bred in Lagos. What's amazing about his music is whatever your situation in life you'll definitely find an album from obey's collection that will be uplifting from his composition & lyrics. Furthermore when am listening to his music it reminds me of the good old days in Lagos not what it is today.
This is a Nigerian classic, as enjoyable today as it was almost 5 decades ago. One needs not be Yoruba or understand Yoruba language to enjoy this beauty. Oh my gosh, it reminds me of Kaduna of my childhood in the 1970s.
Let me try explaining the lyrics in my own understanding. I'm telling you, my enemies begone, leave me be, witches and wizards begone, people with bad intentions towards me begone, evil doers begone etc...
I grew up with Chief Ebenezer Obey’s music. He was the best musician of his time; that is my deduction from his music. He catered to individual and group needs. He was not bias! I am his number 1 fan. I do enjoy his songs up till now. Anyone can search them online. As a Christian, he was exemplary. Words of his music are soothing, true to the core and prayerful. I thank God For Haven given Chief Ebenezer Obey the talent to reach so many people positively through his songs. God bless you. Amen🙏🏾
How happy I am to find this music here... I remembered jamming it on our turntable, my childhood days were beautiful and memorable growing up hearing songs of Ebenezer Obey.(my dad's favorite artist) way back.. 💃💃💃💃💃 Sounds so good and pleasing even in 2021. (Evergreen)😊😘😍

indeed Obey Fabiyi is God sent musician to our generation of this time.

I don't understand what he is saying but i love all his songs ..............Thank you Commander Chief Ebenezer Obey, You'll live long sir.

Amen🙏🏾
