- Have you ever wondered what it's like to build a lightsaber at Savi's Workshop in Disneyland? THIS is what it's like!! Join us as we make our way into Batuu (aka Galaxy's Edge), get stopped by Kylo Ren and the First Order, and step into the tucked away workshop to meet The Gatherers. Was the experience worth it? I think the the lightsabers are 1000% worth it. It’s an awesome unique display piece that looks amazing on a shelf or part of a cosplay. You’re also paying for the experience(which I think is the reason why many go). The music, the sounds, building around others. Just makes you more immersed in the world and makes you feel like you’re a jedi
YES! I totally agree. The experience was so cool!! I didn't even think about using it for cosplay, but that's so smart! I am so tempted to learn all lightsaber choreography now haha. Have you gotten to build one yet? ❤ - Mary

The experience is awesome but the sabers are garbage. They use tech that is almost 20 years old. They are not what they could be.
@jeremydrew1227 they're good enough for the job, and there's no way they could justify the price tag for the experience even though I would happily pay it.
@@kaleikealoha6775 for what job? They are dim enough to see the individual LEDs inside and the swing timing is way off. Swing a few times just to get one sound to play back. I had one legacy lightsaber from Doc Ondars and I ended up selling it.
I would rather spend more from the custom lightsaber community. There is a huge difference.
I went to Star Wars Nite on April 16, 2024 and seeing so many people carrying those lightsabers was amazing. Haven't been to the park in over 20 years and out of random, walked by, talked to a cast member about what they're doing, and told me about Savi's Workshop. Since it was a special night, no reservations, only walk-ups, so I paid for it and went through the experience. Totally worth the cost for the special event ticket and the lightsaber.
That makes me so happy!! I’m so glad you got to go to Star Wars Nite AND build a lightsaber there! Building a lightsaber at Savi’s workshop is definitely a one of a kind experience, and totally worth it. We just went to Star Wars Nite last night for the first time ever, and it was so cool to be surrounded by Star Wars fans and characters! I bet that was the best way to come back to Disney 👏💖 - Mary
@@nerdydaydreams Getting that lightsaber was icing on the cake. My original intent for going to Star Wars Nite was that I was at a nearby conference and our host didn't provide dinner that night. I noticed Star Wars Nite was available and wanted to ride all the rides I could with little to no wait.

I couldn't understand that girl. She sounded like a high schooler babbling on and on.
I tried to cut it out of the video, but there were some excited kids who had trouble keeping quiet, so I think she was just doing her best to navigate around their voices. It was a great time! - Mary

If you’re a Star Wars fan it’s 100% worth it, I did it today and it’s genuinely one of the best experiences of my life, I had goosebumps all the way through it, absolutely incredible

I did this in July of last year. The experience was amazing and the lightsaber is pretty cool. The guy that did the ceremony itself made it 10x better than i expected

Without a doubt, the experience was totally worth it.
Sure. The saber itself is not the best quality (no neopixel features) for the price. But keep that in mind that the high price comes with the building process and the ceremony itself.
You are in the moment of building your own lightsaber. Along with Master Yoda's wise words and his blessing, the builders have taken the first step to become a Jedi/Sith. How cool is that?

I did the Savi's workshop a couple months after GE opened in 2019. It's worth the experience at least once. It was under $200 at the time I did it. I picked purple and Protection & Defense, its the 1st gen pieces. It looks like the 2nd gen pieces line up better.
It sounds like some names were added to the presentation: Kanan, Ezra, Ahsoka and Ventress weren't part of the list in 2019.
The sabers are heavy and bulky, but can be used as a bludgeon fir self defense. I've got 3rd party sabers that I'll bring with with me since they are lighter.
Omg I also noticed how heavy the Savi’s Workshop lightsabers are - much heavier than our neopixel saber. They’re so pretty though, and you’re right! The experience is something you’ve got to do at least once. That’s really cool that you’ve been able to spot the difference between generations. Simon’s has really held up! 💖
@@nerdydaydreams I watched several Savi's videos after DL reopened. It appeared that improved Gen 1 pieces were available since they had a better alignment than mine did. In a couple years the pieces could be swapped out again.

I’m going in July!! Had a friend gone late last year. Said it’s worth the experience but not worth the hype. Quality wise. He had to use thread locker or teflon tape so it doesn’t come apart.
Have so much fun in July!! It is soooo immersive, and so is the lightsaber building experience. We really love our saber! I'm sorry that your friend had to tape theirs. I will note that I consider this saber more of a display, light cosplay saber, where as, with other brands, I feel more comfortable spinning. It shouldn't come apart though! I hope when you build one, you don't experience that issue. Ours is still going strong! Have you thought about what color kyber crystal you'll pick?? 💖-Mary

It’s worth it. If done it 4 times and love it each time. What makes the experience great is the person narrating the experience. unfortunately for you guys you got a young female that was just reading the script instead of “acting” the part. It’s best when an older male plays the part. It makes the experience so much better than what I just watched.
Did you get four different color kyber crystals? It did feel a little scripted, but I still thought it was fun! We'll go back when it's my turn to build one. - Mary 😎
I did this after Christmas and had an older guy doing the narration. It was awesome and he interacted with you on your build. I'm sure she is good at this but she seemed like she was rushing through this.

Do you choose the type?
Yes! When you arrive for your appointment, they show you the four hilt choices, and you pick which style you want to build. Then they give you the points that represents your choice! Not a lightsaber. A glow stick. We are over 1000 years before we can attempt to build a real one as it defies the laws of physics.

yes! hi, it's Mary here! I definitely want to build my own lightsaber. I *think* I want to build a droid first though. Have you built a droid or a lightsaber yet? Disney does such a great job with these experiences. :)
@@nerdydaydreams I haven't been on a trip in well it would be 14 years come April I never built a Droid or a lightsaber. Galaxy's Edge didn't exist last time I was there. All the had was a March place where you buy stuff and a stage where characters came out from time to time. And they had Star tours and that was it.

I want too build my own lightsaber and I would like the color to be orange or purple and for the other lightsaber I would like the color to be orange or black for I can take it home my own lightsaber OK.

The woman disney worker that is presenting the show is very scripted. She seemed to hurry everything she says. Sorry you got a bad presenter.
I hear that!! I did my best to cut it out of the video, but she was honestly dealing with some very excited young kids who were having trouble staying quiet (understandable, very exciting stuff). She was having to yell over them or speak between their excitement, and I appreciated her for doing her best while that was happening.😆We'll do it again when it's my turn to make one, and it could be a totally different environment! - Mary 💖
