Useful behind the scenes. Props to the director and yourself as I couldn't imagine having to coordinate all those people. Out of interest what do you think about tailoring narratives such that they are affordable and logistically simpler to shoot? I've done some calculations and think if you do handheld, black and white, 2-3 actors its possible to make a features on 16mm for

All props to the producers for the logistical acrobatics they had to go through for this shoot.
To answer your question, I think you have to start with the story you want to tell, not with the budget. The only time a film is untethered is in the writing process. Every step after that, limitations will be imposed.
It’s nearly impossible to get a film off the ground, so rather than chopping up the story to make it less complex for the sake of money, I’d put the work into finding ways to get the money to make the dream project.
At the end of the day it takes tremendous effort, so might as well work toward what you really want to make and will be proud of 10 years from now.
I write and direct as well. You can check out the trailer for my most recent work, Method, on the channel.
