- Hi every one i got an invite with a friend to shoot rats at a waste disposal site and we both had a good two hours on the rats. i was using my HW 100 with the Pard 008 LRF with the PBiR Laser to light them up. we accounted for around 70 all together but not all the shots are in this video but was a night well spent controlling the scaly tales ..cheers

May i suggest the crossman 2250xl rat catcher👌👌powerful short range accurate co2 rifle👌👌& the super field RWS pellets are great rat killers👌👌

Ridin Green here- excellent shooting and filming as usual. Towards the beginning you shot a rat and one of his buddies to the left did a big jump at the shot. Kinda funny to watch.

Another great night of shooting... Talk about a target-rich environment. Heck uou didn't ever have to wait for them to show back up. Lastly, a great choice for the music as it lends itself to the video.

Use to do this as kids, only back then no night vision. We had dog kennels near where we lived, and the dog owners use to pay us to keep the rat pop down. Rats can really do a number on dog food. One little dog was so scared of the rats it almost died because the rats ate all its food and drank all its water all the time. When the owner figured what was happening she paid us good money to take care of the rats. We would sit on top of the kennels and shoot rats all day. The dogs loved it when they seen our gang show up. They knew they were gonna some treats that we would bring them and shoot the rats. LOL After seeing what those rats did to those dogs i never had a problem with disposing of rats. This actually made me feel warm and fuzzy watching you bag them like that. Make me wish we had night vision back then.

Simon, generally how far away were you from the rats and what was the muzzle velocity of the pallets? thx that was some darn good shooting!
Cheers pal, i was only 20 to 50 yards off at the most and my pellets were doing around 715 ftps if remember correctly that night.
@@simon6ppc246 thx - its amazing that 715fps will neutralize rats as I've shot many rats with a 22LR at 1250fps at approx. 100ft -150ft and lots of them needed a 2nd shot to finish them even though they were hit in places similar to where your shots were hitting

Love your videos Simon - always well put together and the shooting is mind-blowing! I used to shoot rats with an old Webley Vulcan (wasn't old then!) and, seeing where they lived, I never had even the slightest pang of conscience in doing so. Just bought a Walther Rotex for shooting crows around my croft (on the Isle of Skye) - I have a .22. rim-fire but the shots generally aren't safe for that.
Whenever I watch your ratting videos, it always gets me wondering - do you have to go and pick up all the dead bodies afterwards? Nasty job if you do!!

Thanks a lot Richard i used to have a Webley Hawk to lol, i pick up what rats i can obviously if they haven't fell down any holes and such i use a litter picker upper thing so i don't have to handle them works spot on.

As always great shooting my friend ! That’s a true gold mine you have there . I can only dream about finding a place like that to shoot. The coyote hunting is done now as the coats are turning back to summer hair and they are denning up to have their pups ! It will be a long summer waiting for October but I will be busy with some painting , yard work , vehicle maintenance and load development and testing. Thanks again Donald , is it illegal to shoot coyotes when they are having pups over there as the foxes over here are at their worst this time of year so we can still shoot them even though i try not to un less they are really being a nuisance
Simon6ppc No , you can shoot them all year out west in the state I live in. I don’t want to shoot them all just keep there populations at a reasonable number. The cattle ranches would like them gone as they are a nuisance and kill newborn calf’s. They are a very tuff predator and can run 1/4 mile with all there intestines shot out ( ask me how I know ) . I got 28 this season , I hope I can do that well this fall. We will see ! Stay well and strong my friend !
@@thomasdaum1927 ye fair enough it is the same here with the foxes in all fairness as the sheep farmers and keepers here want them all gone but even though i do shoot foxes i think they are a stunning animal and would never want to shoot the last one, around 7 years ago i had a truce with a litter of cubs and used to go and feed them by hand and pick them up with my dog playing with them running around the field i have a video and might put it on TH-cam one day but i think it would attract un wanted attention and cause more grief than showing the good side of me, any way you stay safe pal..
Simon6ppc I feel that is not a sign of weakness to show compassion to baby animals even if they grow up to be vicious predators. When they become adults then they are fair game ! I will be looking for a coyote den to monitor this spring just to see how they raise and interact with their pups. That video of the Foxes would be very interesting to see ! Very satisfying watch, like to know if you clean up after (not very practical in those conditions) or do you let them lie, and wonder if rats are cannibalistic so providing food for their surviving chums.

Do you get paid to do this and do you get paid to keep the sheep and animals safe on the farms? Because you've got some pretty expensive equipment to do it just for fun, if you do get paid for the pest control then I would totally do this too.
I do on some farms but others are my friends

so you do use PCPs too. I like the 11-12 ft lb shooting. It's so quiet they don't know what's going on, lots of shots on a charge, and it gets the job done. I never got why fellas want to turn up a PCP like a centerfire, what's the point of a PCP then? Just to say they can I guess. As always, nice shooting.

I have noticed whenever you get a profile shot, when you hit the rat in or very near the ear, it seems to kill the rat “deader” than any other pellet placement. Have you noticed this?
Ye Charles rats are very tough critters i usually do ok but at times they do seem indestructible.

Doesn't seem like too many of them actually died.their web site says they produce 26 FPE with 16 grain pellet at, ave 890 fps

What you using for night vision? Been looking at options tbh.
