I believe Sebek’s love language is “Words of Affirmation” because he LOVES being complimented and does so in kind, in a way that makes it seem like it is the BEST thing a person can do for another person. He has his Alchemy class line “Please Praise me!” I consider Leona addressing by name a ‘compliment’ (in the fact that he remembered him) and he was grinning despite the, “Impressively stupid..” comment in his Outdoors Wear SR In the Glorious Masquerade event there is a point in the chapter 14 ‘Tis a Simple Question’ where Trein tells him “Well done…” He got lured into the Harveston event after Epel said, “I imagine their friends and loved ones’ll give ‘em a big ‘ol pat on the back and say, ‘You did good.’” His Lab Wear voice line, “I’ll get the highest score on our next test. And then the Young Master will praise me…!” And his Glorious Masquerade story where he was only able to make eye contact with Malleus after-you guessed it- HE PRAISED HIM!
Sebek is so cute. His character is like a fine balance of “I show my appreciation and respect through words of praise but also you need to read between the lines to truly understand what I’m saying.” He’s so sweet but he’s also a lil bit a jerk. He sometimes hides how much he worries behind his loudness and words but he’s sometimes brutally honest to a fault. Such a sweetheart!
Not to complain here but my ONE gripe with him is how often he says “for a human” spiel. He acts like he’s not half human himself and just sees humans as sentient animals with nothing more than aggression and some amount of intelligence . His reverse speciesism is what keeps me from fully liking him. I get that he was raised by fairies and admires his grandfather, but geez, did he have to pass on his hatred of humans to Sebek? ( I am a dark skinned person, so his demeanor is reminding me too much of racist people)
I agree with you, but wanted to add that I saw someone explain that they thought he was probably embarrassed of his human side and I'm sure with the rarity of humans and half-humans in Briar Valley that at least some of fairies there were as awful to him as the mer people were to Azul. And as much as he worships Malleus he's probably super embarrassed to be half-human. I mean, humans killed Malleus' mom and possibly his dad too. And it makes it so much worse that fairies live so long because I bet a lot of the fairies there actually lived through the war. It doesn't make it any better, but it does make more sense to me now. He hates that part of himself and is projecting that onto others or whatever it is that minorities do when they hate something about themselves like that. I hope you don't think I'm diminishing your feelings, I'm not trying to at all. He still annoys the hell out of me when he says stuff that is anti-anyone not fae, which is still racism in my opinion, even though they call them different species. I hope by the end of Book 7, Sebek will come to the realization that fairies are still people too. They may not be human, but they have the same personality and emotional issues that the "humans" do. And he'll realize that he was wrong the whole time. I mean, surely after the man he worships has overblotted just like all the "humans" did. I hope anyway. And racist people are the worst. I'm not sure if it's better that they are more likely to give themselves away now or not. 😒 I mean at least you know who not to talk to anymore, but I legit feel like if someone doesn't have anything nice to say, then they should STFU, lol!
@@StephanieDraconia You’re not, I’m just glad others see the huge flaw in Sebek’s character. Plus, I know these kids are meant to be selfish and have asshole traits (since they represent the villains), but they should lighten them up just a bit so we can tolerate them more.
real. but also he would represent the people who do hate themselves and their racial/ethnic backgrounds. as rare as they are, it's just a shame there aren't more moments where he's called out for it and it not being treated like a joke.
@@racquelillustrates1792 Oh, good! Online it's sometimes very hard to communicate without miscommunication. I see arguments all the time on social media and then after a huge thread, you find out it was basically just that someone is a bad communicator! 🤣
