    You know I've been a welder 40 years I really like what you do continue doing it and whoever else gives you a little blow back just look over it then not as experienced as we are

    Yea Bro, this help me alot. Just purchased an Oklahoma Joe Highlander. Had a local metal shop drill and mount the log lighter. I use a long lighter and stand to the side, not in front of fire box door. Don’t turn propane up too high and light immediately after turned on. Don’t let the propane build up or you get a boom. I also welded my fire box together after joining top and bottom with screws, to prevent gas escape. The last thing I did was to buy a 6 feet hose so I could sit the tank father away. I checked out some of your other vids, you have mad skills. I once took metal trades shop class, in high school. Those are very good skills to have, to build something solid. Thanks for your efforts and sharing.

    Love your videos man, I'm half way in to my build right now. Been thinking about building one for a while and your vids got me started. Making a combined barrel grill/smoker for my dad at his 60th birthday. Thx for your vids!

    I went to a 3/4" tube in the bottom of the box with 1/8 holes, got better flame. Had to adjust the gas flow by filling the brass adapter with solder and drilling it out. Different size for different lengths of fire tube. Great Vid, Great Channel. You will always get trolls, ignore them... sorry Igor!

      Great video. I wonder if it might be better to install so all the drilled holes are on the bottom of the pipe so ashes can’t fall into and clog the gas tube.

    Hey, Allen! I love the videos and I watch a lot. I want to recommend that you not use galvanized pipe. When that zinc coating burns off it poisons food if it comes in contact with it. This is no joke! Use only black pipe and nothing galvanized . God bless and take care. I can't wait for the next video.

    Hey man great video I'm not sure if you know this already but you see how your flames were really Orange that means they're starving of oxygen if you made those 4 holes around that center diffuser a little bit bigger you would get bluish flames just an FYI

    Hello Allen this video pop when I opened TH-cam like this Idea. Thanks for posting this video. I didn’t read any other comments but if I may suggest that a gas ball valve would be good to install with a nipple and to the coupler and continue to tank. Love this video great job.

    • @markjob7736
      @markjob7736 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't need 2 valves. The one on the tank should be shut off after every use.

    I want to make one for my fireplace. What size bit did you use for your holes? Great flame on your pipe man!!!! Why not put the holes in the top of the pipe? I was thinking of putting slits in the pipe with a hack saw, thought that might be easier than holes. What do you think?

    The way I look at it, is a person that says he is a fabricator and buys the parts that he could have built himself , is not a fabricator. Just a parts changer. I build just about everything that I use in my builds. Yes there are certain things that I don't have the knowledge to make , such as a thermometer gauge. Does anyone know how to show me how to build one and it be accurate???? You Allen do great work. Thanks for the video that you post.

      For sucking in oxygen...

    • @Rattletrap2
      @Rattletrap2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, the pressurized flow of propane creates a venturi which sucks in the surrounding air. It might be nice to have larger holes and a means to shutter them down.This works fine though.

    • @breadthroughthefire
      @breadthroughthefire 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for the info. i was kind of waiting to see if the holes would cause a back draft and explode or something.

    I think that big orange flames means you are getting too much airflow from your (4) 1/8" holes. Blue flame burns hotter and cleaner.

    • @KennyInVegas
      @KennyInVegas 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no........... propane is sucking in air at the cap as it burns for a proper mixture.

    Not sure if it would screw with your style or not, but maybe some good earbuds or something and just have the music going there. Would probably save you a hell of a lot of time editing music out of video and the hassle of stuff getting flagged and losing the money from it while it's in dispute.
    Some people just can't stand to have those little ear buds in, myself included.
    Either way, just a thought. Keep the videos coming, you have some great straight forward welding/cutting stuff and it just keeps getting better.

    Great build as always. One thing to note, Propane flames should be burning BLUE in color, this indicates a complete/clean burn. Orange/Yellow flame color is caused from not enough oxygen (thinking you might need a few more oxygen holes, maybe 6? or larger ones?) Here's a link that explains this very well: www.elgas.com.au/blog/1585-why-does-a-gas-flame-burn-blue-lpg-gas-natural-propane-methane Also, a blue flame (from propane) will burn about 2000'C, a yellow/orange flame burns closer to 1000'C, huge difference. Orange flames produce a lot of CO (poisonous carbon monoxide gas). Happy and Safe BBQ'ing to all.

    How can you get copy writed for playin a radio when I've seen other people sing along with the radio on their blogs. Don't make any sense to me ? You also need to put an orifice on that pipe to control your flame , plus you have too much air goin into it .
