Hello there, well l just made this and have to say it turned out beautiful l simply love it did it in pink as a gift so thank you for you excellent presentation from Australia.
I followed tutorial to measurements mentioned. Sadly I ended out having short cords only coming half way down my jar and that is before finishing last row of double hitch knots to complete triangle. Personaly I would say to measure 6 x length of jar for each individual cord. I am about to attempt my second jar of same size 🤞
Hi;) Thank you for the video. Could you please tell me how many cord exactly you "hang" on the longest piece of cord at the very beginning? :) Is it 42 or 41 (excluding the long one)? Thank you in advance!
Hey. I wanted to ask if we can make this cover without putting on the jar. I mean, can we just measure the jar for length of strings and then make it by pinning on a board or somewhere? Amazing work, though. Want to try it out. ☺️
it will look different becoz you have to tie both ends of the knot together.. if you do the theres gonna be a gap, but if your not that particular it should be fine i guess.
I started making your holder but as soon as you showed the long cord to go around I got lost. You said you added this long cord but I never heard when or how long it was to be. I am new to macrame and wanted this for granddaughter birthday. I had hoped to have it done today. Help!
hi ms. karen if you can watch from 2:00-2:28 thats where i mentioned that 1 string that is longer, that longer string is going to be the base for the rest of the strings. For the size its 4x of the jars height + the size of your jars mouth. I hope this could help and you’ll be able to finish your gift for your granddaughter🥰 God Bless.
@@chaoie09chuby Thank you for answering so quickly. Is that strand the same strand as the one the other strands are hung on? If so it looks like you knot the strands on the jar in the middle of the strand which means all the strands are the same length. I'm sorry, I still feel a little confused. I have watched the video over and over. Now I am wondering if I can take one of the strands out and replace it with a long one. Thanks for your time. And God bless you too! I watched you singing about Jesus.
@@karennewham3848 yes the longer strand is where your going to attached the rest of the strand just make sure when you attached the rest of the strands its in the center 2:29-2:38 then after you attached all of the strands tie it to the jar 4:30-4:59 , the purpose of the longer strand is that when we attached it to the jar the length of the longer strand (base strand) will be in the same length with the rest of the attached strand.. i only sing for the Lord alone👆🏻.. thank you so much for the support.
@@chaoie09chuby I am sorry, I don’t think I am explaining correctly. All my strands were the same length after I tied them to the jar. But when you start the knots to go around the jar I don’t have a strand that is long enough. I made the strands 4 times longer than the jar. I watched you measure and followed you. If there is nothing else you can tell me I won’t take anymore of your time. 😁
@@karennewham3848 you mean when you did the knots your strands is not enough to finish the design, if yes these might be the reason why, 1. Depends on what kind of cord you use 2.. Knots are not tight enough for now that's the only reason i could think of why, i really hope i did able to help you.
Ugh! Most epic macrame fail I’ve made to date. So disappointed as yours looks so pretty and mine is far from that! I started off with a smaller jar (Yankee Candle glass jar) but I followed your formula to the letter.... measure the height of the jar and multiply by 4) Started really well, it already thought maybe 42 strings as you suggested was going to be long as my jar was smaller. I was correct but then had no idea how many to use. I guessed and used 28. As I’m a beginner I thought maybe just an even number of strings would be ok. Wrong! So then I ended up with not enough of a combination of cords to do the square knots pattern you made...I ended up with 2 strings left over somehow. Could be because I couldn’t make out if you said (or how to do it anyway!) to add an extra string after you first secure the length of Larkshead knots at the top to start the row of half hitch knots around the rim. Even my longest cord was not long enough to go all the way around so I had to pick up 2 extra strings on the way round, hence the lack of cords to do the square knot pattern underneath. Whether it was because I started off with too many strings, or my cord was too thick, but the whole thing did not fall nicely around the jar like yours. Mine just stuck outwards. I also completely ran out of cord all the way round! I’m too embarrassed to even post a photo as it looks so bad compared to your beautiful creation! Don’t know if you can pick up on any of my points to correct for maybe the next person?? Thank you
theres a lot of things to consider why your project didn’t turn out the way you expected, it could be the type of string that you use and also the size and shape of the jar.. With regards to the number of strings needed and since i don’t know how big the rim of your jar is you can just estimate at first then attach it to the jar after that you can just add or minus depending on how many strings will fit the rim of the jar, you can also group the strings by 4 first before doing the square knot so you’ll be sure that you’ll end up enough strings all round.. probably the reason why your knots stuck outward becoz your knots is very tight and your cord is hard, so when you try to do the knot the result is kinda stiff, or maybe you have to adjust the spacing of the knot depending on the shape of the jar you are using. i really hope this could help you.
I just tried again but with very fine cord...probably 1-2mm and it turned out great...yes I think my cords were too crowded in the beginning, knots too tight and cord too thick (3-4mm). I’m glad I persisted as it has turned out so pretty! Thank you.
I’ve followed the instructions on how much to allow for each string. But in the end, it’s really too short to complete the entire design. Something is missing here perhaps?

How did you know how many strings to cut to go on the jar (going around the ring)?

Здравствуйте! Скажите, пожалуйста, можно навестить 28 шнуров на маленькую банку? Раппорт не собьется? Спасибо!

i think your cord is too thick thats why when you do the knots is bigger than what i did.. that could’ve been one of the factor.
@@chaoie09chuby same happened with me
On voit rien et trop vite
From the comments the instructions are not clear. Wont attempt.
