- My Amtrak and Bike trip continues from San Antonio to LA California where I spend a day before continuing my travels. I'm a nature guy so I looked at the nearest nature area to ride my bike. Ascot Hills Park near downtown promised to give me beautiful views and it wasn't disappointing. I got amazing views over the Los Angeles skyline and picked up some new birds for myself.

West coast got lot of rain and snow this year. I had a stopover in LA for a day so since I'm a nature guy then I headed to the nearest natural area and got a nice view over LA. Thanks

Yes, I'm traveling by Amtrak train and my bike cone state to another. Last night arrived in Albuquerque New Mexico. Heading out to find birds. 👍

Love that train car with the big windows. Ascot hills park had very good views of the city.
Viewing car is my favorite spot on the trail. I spend most of my time there but only long distance trains have viewing car. 👍
LA is such a unique place to visit! The "hiking" is so different there than we were used to!
I had only one full day in LA so I headed to the nearest nature area to hike and bird.. From Ascot Hills Park I got beautiful views over the LA skyline.

It was a nice 360° view to Los Angeles. It's the right time of year when wildflowers are in full bloom.
What a view! There is so much to see when you take a train out west. Cool trees everywhere! What a nice hike and view! You could definitely stay in shape living there, lol. What a fun adventure! ❤

The Union Station in LA is beautiful! I’ve been through a few times. The bloom was certainly worthy of the walk up. I’ve taken the trip between LA and Flagstaff a few times, when Mark used to work in Grand Canyon. Excited for your Grand Canyon experience, one of my best friends still lives/works at Grand Canyon. She’s also a subscriber here.
I stopped in LA for s day and just wanted to get out into nature. This natural area near downtown was a great place to visit. Beautiful views over the LA, lots of birds and wildflowers.
The train ride is amazing! I have to do a train trip. Only one new bird in this one. I didn't think you got winded, bicycling hundreds of miles in a day; I guess mountain climbing uses different muscles than pedaling! Great episode! Peace & Prayers.
Long distance Amtrak trains have viewing car with big windows that's where I spend most of time. I actually saw more birds but I left my zoom camera into hotel so that I couldn't get pictures. Thanks for watching.
Wow, you're putting in a lot of miles in a short amount of time! So nice that you were in LA while the wildflowers were blooming. We're seen some photos of the super bloom and it's amazing. How far out did you have to go to get to that more natural area?
This was near downtown, maybe 6 miles from the center. Right timing indeed, everything is blooming. Even desert is green and blooming, very pretty 😍
