Oh yes, my grandma used to say vittles all the time. It’s southern slang for the word “victuals” which basically just means food and groceries. I miss Ghost Town in the Sky.

Jacob, I'm right there with you on appreciating things while you have them . I'd say a good 75 percent of my favorite childhood places, places that feature in my core memories are either gone entirely or changed almost beyond recognition.😢 Nothing to do but keep on keeping on and make new memories 😊 Also, I think the only time I heard vittles being used was on the Beverly Hillbillies.😂

Tender vittles cat food from the 70's. Lawyers have ruined everything that was cool from my childhood. They are responsible for suing everyone with a business just to line their pockets with money. Thanks Jacob for trying to bring what's left of yesteryear treasures to the next generation! Cheers!

Oh wow, I highly enjoyed this! Maggie Vally is one of my favorite places, it’s so pretty. Here and Cherokee is where I gained my appreciation for old timey souvenir shops. Maggie Mountaineer Crafts souvenir shop has a real nice back porch overlooking the (I think, been a long while) Little Pigeon River. Good memories. 😊 Thanks!

My wife and I were just in Ashville, what in the world has happened to that amazing city? We had several locals and a police officer warn us about
violent street crime! In all my visits to Ashville, I've never been warned for my safety before.

    • @_LuxStein

Hi from Asheville. Just the usual--corrupt city leadership prioritizing tourism over infrastructure and safety, embezzlement, the majority of our knuckle dragging police force quitting over getting "jabbed" for covid, and the ones that stayed ganging up and beating a black jaywalker within an inch of his life for being black and getting "suspended pending investigation". Also, epidemic levels of homelessness and heroin use, which the city goes on ignoring.
Unsustainable cost of living, and no jobs to be had that pay a living wage.
Great place, can't wait to move.

@@sailbroker6244 Terribly inaccurate given that the extreme right are the ones with their finger on triggers and storming the Capitol etc. Look at the senseless shootings lately- youth mistaking cars in parking lots for theirs and getting shot, kids picking up friends and knocking on the wrong door and getting shot, etc. Dems aren’t behind this. Trump extremists are all about shooting first and not stopping to ask questions with an unfortunately large dose of vulgarity along the way. Ohio is full of it sadly.

Enjoy the videos. Especially the ones in this area. Growing up, my family vacationed in Gatlinburg every Summer. In Cherokee, across from the Frontier Motel that was featured in this video, there’s a shopping center that now has a pawn shop. Where the pawn shop is, there was a restaurant called Dell’s, that my Mom used to love to eat lunch at after leaving Gatlinburg.

We had the same situation exactly here in Texas in a town name new caney. There was going to be a theme park called earth quest adventures , with a shopping entertainment district and a neighborhood ...supposedly they had formal Disney imagineers that drew up concepts etc and the group had a town meeting too and gain so much money from the county and stole it all and scammed all. And apparently they went on a theme park spree. It's a major sad tease of wtfs. It sucks

Especially the Cherokee fun park where that restaurant is now. I have so many fun memories of that fun park and it was open the last time I went. I guess that shows how long it's been since i was last there. 😢

Jacob I know you are by no means a motorcycle guy but you should go to Wheels Through Time. Its a motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley that has some motorcycles as old as 100 years and even older. Its a really cool place. Talk to Matt and tell him Alex from Rising sun Kustoms sent ya!
