- When a kitten has an accidental poop, it's important to clean them up in a way that is gentle and safe. In this video, I show you how to give kittens a butt bath, and how to get them warm and dry as fast as possible.

We adopted a seven week old kitten that didn’t know how to clean his butt either. He is just now cleaning his face and stomach. It takes time, patience and a warm paper towel. Looks like her bath is a better idea.

Have you heard that video of a squeaking frog? Yeah, my cat thought that it was a kitten and would pace around the computer, wide eyed and always sniffing, and it's funny because she hates other cats and would often growl at her own kittens, probably because she was only a kitten herself and didn't know what to do.
(She was a great mother and obviously loved her kittens, so i've herd, so don't criticize her about growling at them.)
I've noticed that the tiniest are always the biggest poopers.

I love how each of the kittens express their own tone of mewing. The first was loud and demanding, the second was soft and sweet, the third was quiet, and the last simply purred.

My 2 year old boy also responds to the sounds of unhappy kittens. He will even dig in my blankets to search for them.

When I had to suddenly care for a bunch of eight day old kittens we had no clue what to do except for the vet telling us to keep them warm, feed them every two hours & potty them. So when they started suckling on each other's butts we ended up with kittens covered in poo from face to butt. At first we'd wash them in the sink & blow dry with a warm dryer but I worried it was too stressful. I didn't have access to heating pads that I felt were safe enough either. So what I ended up doing was drying them fast with fluffy towels then climbing in bed under thick covers and cuddling them close to my body. I made a little pocket of air that they were in and I'd keep lifting the covers every few mins to make sure they got fresh air. It was super warm, I'd be sweating up a storm. But I was determined to keep all of them alive even though the vet warned us that we probably would lose some. And we did it. What I love about these videos is that ppl have a resource & don't have to figure it out on their own. I think the only reason our kittens survived was bc there was four of us and bc I was able to dedicate all my time, basically my life, to those kittens. It was summer & I didn't have to go to classes & bc we'd just moved I hadn't picked up a part time job yet so I had all the time to care for them. So my life revolved around caring for those kittens. It's super rewarding and now there's a great resource for anyone who find they need to care for kittens.

Did the kittens survive? How old are they now?
Yes and we kept them all. My sister and I took three plus mama and my mom and her wife took two. My sister kept the mama and the largest and fluffiest black kitten and I kept a tiger strip and the little black runt. They were my babies. It was really hard for me to give up Mr Black the fluffy black kitten to my sister but she said it wasn't fair if I kept all three. Five years later I stayed with my sister for a bit when I moved back to MD and bc Mr Black cried when I left she she gave him to me. (And I think her boyfriend didn't really want a cat.) They've all passed now. I miss them a lot. I can't have kitties anymore bc my daughter is severely allergic to cats. What makes it super sad is she's been obsessed with animals since she was a baby. Cats especially, and wolves, and now foxes. We're thinking maybe a hairless bc they need bathed often and we've heard cats that are bathed can be tolerated by ppl with cat allergies. With a hairless you can just wipe them down bc there's no hair for the dander to get stuck in. We'll see. For now she's got two dogs that have hair instead of fur that don't cause to much if an allergic reaction. Cats and dogs are awesome in different ways and I hope to have cats in my life again. Raising kittens was the best experience and I'd love to so it again.

My cat has a a very fluffy backside and she is a grown cat, but sometimes poop gets caught in her fur and she cannot get it out, so we sometimes have to give oopsie-poopsie baths to my cat. My cat wants to have a clean butt, but hates baths 😂
Oh I know how that is, I got a full grown Balinese cat that I rescued and I had to give her my share of oopsie poopsie butt baths too.
LupusAurora I have a blind cat who occasionally steps in... well, just about anything you can imagine, so she frequently needs baths.
Get a small, battery operated razor for mustaches and shave around her butt. I used to jokingly threaten my tailless kitten 20 years ago, finally wised up and did it! He was the grumpiest cat in the world, but stood still while I did it, growling the whole time. He actually liked it, and would come to me when I turned the trimmer on, lol. A trim lasts a couple of weeks or so.
Try trimming the fur around her butt it might help
Feel you, my cats sometimes have to deal with this kind of oopsie poopsie as well bc of their adorable furry butts 😂. Usually I try to get out all I can by cutting out the affected fur, so I give them the booty spa only if it is really needed.

I'm so smitten with Balboa and cannot wait to see his coloring develop as he gets a bit older. My little man is a Siamese mix with white feet and every time I see another kitty with similar markings, my heart melts. I didn't know him as a kitten, so it's fun to imagine that he maybe looked like Balboa as a kitten. Also, "We gave your booty a blowout, girlfriend!" had me laughing out loud!! I remember when teaching my baby kittens to use the litter box there was always a couple who would pee on their feet and end up with clown shoes made of clumping litter. Now I know better; non clumping clay litter for the beginners. Live and learn. 😸

I work with a rescue and have my first three newborns. They are in rough condition. They still had umbilical cords attached. The mother was feral and was hit. 😢

This is so lovely! I rescued a baby boy when he was only around 20 days old, an orphan, too. I had never had to take care of an orphan kitten, so I learned so many things along the way! I gave him butt baths, too 😍 feeling nostalgic hahaha he's currently 1.5 years old, sleeping on our bed by my side now ♡♡♡
Edit: one important thing I always did was butt baths only during the day, so the kitten could dry faster under the sunlight

I’ve saved a 1-2 weeks old kitten from a cruel owner who have killed her 3 other siblings hopefully I was in time to save her , never had an animal before . I am taking care of my little Loly , she seems happy and relax with me. I stimulated her and also used the triangle method but she only pees . It’s been four days that she did nothing, only peeing. I’m worried about her and cannot bring her to the vet because I cannot afford . What should I do ? Can someone give me advices about it please?

Zapp Zeta I am living 150km far away from my main home... someday when I came back I’ve found out that my family gave her to someone else.. They didn’t told me because they knew that I’ll never let her go . I am still sad about it but I am happy for her at least now she does have a family who have a full time to play with her😊. Her new family tells me about her and that she is a badass because she rules in the house this is one of the things that I thought her 😂. She was 2-3months ago when she is gone but she even ruled over aged animals im proud of her 😊

Thank you for being the ONLY video I could find which actually showed what to do! I just got a 6 month old and he had diarrhea and I didn't notice it was in his fur until it had dried 😢. I'm on the spectrum and very visual, as well as a huge animal lover, so I need a visual reference and to make sure I'm doing everything right. A year ago my mom got a call from a lady who found a 3 week old kitten with breathing problems. She went and got him where we set up a little bed for him. I named him Tyler and had to bottle feed him for a while. He always had his claws out and poked holes in the nipple-of the bottle. I hoped he would live but my whole family had doubt. No matter what they say I kept trying. He is now 1 and amazing. He is a black cat with yellow eyes. He still doesn’t control his claws and he climbs up on my shoulders. He jumps on me for me to hold him. Tyler loves robe cradled like a baby and i completely agree to raise them young. I wanted you to hear this because I love ur channel and I would totally love to work with kittens/cats when I’m older.❤️thank you so much for being an inspiration!!!
