I for one, have no problem with Horner borrowing from his earlier works, and rearranging them, or putting only subtle variations on them. He created a magic formula that I will NEVER tire of! I love it! You left us too soon, James. Rest in The Lord’s Peace. 🖖😀
The low mens chorus between each crescendo from 2:53 - 3:45 is like blowing on the coals of a fire, taking a breath at each crescendo, and then blowing again on the coals and watching them grow brighter!!!
listen to opening track of The Spiderwick Chronicles sountrack.... quite similar progressions but with no percussions :) Both of them explain different moods- mystery and here some kind of climax( I havent seen this movie)
I remember seeing this in the theatre and haven't actually seen it again since then. I didn't know that Horner did the score. WOW you can really hear a lot of Star Trek 2 in this.
I know that they started out as friends, and eventually got where they didn't like each other at all. Horner said it was because he had "become a rival," but I've never read Goldsmith's reasons. Do you have any source you can cite? I'd love to dig deeper into that... :-)
I remember watching the Japanese dub of Mobile Suit Gundam: Stardust Memory 0083. I remember hearing the clear musical references to this man's work on other films. Then I heard straight up plagiarism of certain sections of this score, and nearly a whole song from Glory (1989). At least the thief had decent taste.

Perfect soundtrack! My favorite!
Motorizovanajednotka N mine too, and I've over 400 soundtracks.
0:00 to 0:12 Was that Enterprise overtaking Reliant in the Mutara Nebula? Spoken with love, I'm a James Horner fan!

Lazy? that is so arrogant ....why would you call him that? Because there are similarities in his work? So what, that's what you get out of it?
@@theartofpiano6405 Star Trek 2 was James Horner's. Jerry Goldsmith composed Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
@@jessealvarez779 That is correct! 🙂
My favourite score. (I've hundreds.)
"Take the fire from my hand.."
take the phaser from my hand

Thanks for sharing. I like listening to derivative works. =)
Compare the beginning of this track with 2:43 of Wrath of Khan: Kirk's Explosive Reply...
Love ❤️ will ALWAYS conquer hate.
