It's also kinda an admission that America is not a bad place and socialism and communism are not as great as they sound.

Exactly correct, entertainers are not essential workers in any way. A productive, wealthy society is able to easily afford supporting their story telling fiction artwork talents, or athletic and strategic abilities in Sports. In a Great Depression, not so much.

Thank you for your support. As a Cuban American I've been very disheartened by the lack of media coverage and that is actually one of our slogans during protests "Donde esta la prensa?" "Where is the press?" Organizers have gone as far as to tell protesters to make sure all their signs are in English so that the American media will understand what we're saying. The only reason we've made headway is because we've elected Cuban Americans into congress who are fighting for us right now. (Marco Rubio and Maria Elvira Salazar) and brave Cuban activists like Rosa Maria Paya who are making us heard inside the white house. What this is, and what this has always been, is a fight against misinformation. No one knows what's happening in Cuba not only because Cuba is cut off from the world but because it's inconvenient for Marxists to admit Cuba has failed. Thank you again for calling out ppl who claim to care about ppls struggles but will not speak out against the Cuban regime

My dad would try to discuss with my cousin (his niece) on how she could support a group that is openly Marxist over and over and all she would do was call him a "racist" for not supporting it. It got pretty nasty, she called him all kinds of names in front of all of our family and all he wanted to know is if she supported their OTHER beliefs as well. Needless to say, regarding Cuba right now, she's crickets. I feel like he should send this to her. 😁 Nothing but TRUTH!

The fact that you brought up the influence of celebrity involvement is important. Besides Pitbull (who is of Cuban descent) no other celebrity has spoken up about the situation in Cuba. Moreover, the demands for change in the form of uprisings does not only pertain to the island of Cuba. Venezuela and Hong Kong are also nations that are dealing with a new generation of citizens that are hungry for change. The question is if the citizens of the nations I just mentioned previously can stand up for their rights as human beings than why are we so afraid to lift up our voices to support them?

It truly feels like a battle that we're never going to win and my family and I are just trying to get our extended family out of there. We have fought and protested and we've been lied to time and time again that it has left us burnt out. I'm scared to get my hopes up seeing what is happening in Cuba cause if nothing comes out of it then it'll add on to the hopelessness we feel. I'm extremely privilege that I live outside of Venezuela but my family is still struggling every day.
