The casters talking about how the Aug is not so prevalent speaks to how the devs don't know how to balance weapons. If the Aug is going to be worse than the M4, it should cost less. Alternatively, they should have just raised the price of the Aug instead of nerfing it. A weapon that costs more should always be the superior choice in that class of weapon. If you can afford an AK/M4, you sure as hell aren't buying a Galil/Famas. It should follow that the SG/Aug becomes the superior choice over the AK/M4. Devs should be looking at all weapons and how pros are/aren't using them. I've never seen a pro use a Bison or a Negev. If the devs aren't going to incentivize the use of a weapon, why even have it in the game? How could they incentivize a weapon? In the case of the Negev/M249, add a mini riot shield onto the front. It would inhibit sight to the user, but also help protect them from being picked off from the front. Pros might use this to pin down certain angles and gain position. Who knows? Try something at least!
I agree with you on the whole, but you've got to remember that there is a game outside the pro scene, so there are plenty of weapons for the casual user to experiment with.
