what i find so incredibly chilling about sober(aside from its powerful message) is that Demi LITERALLY APPLIED WHAT JOE JONAS(as Shane Gray) SAID IN CAMP ROCK 10 YEARS AGO. "So here's some advice. It's not all about your image. None of it means anything unless people see who you really are. And your music has to be who you really are. It's gotta show how you feel, or it doesn't mean anything". May those words be ever so true to Demi and us all
As a person in recovery... this is amazing... relapse doesn’t make you less of a person.. it doesn’t make you a bad person... and it doesn’t mean that you can’t help others now... 1 day clean is a miracle... if you were sober for a few years and slipped up... oh well... pick yourself up and keep your head up... we are all humans 🙏🏼

Listening to this after hearing the news of her overdosing. Sending her all my love. I pray and hope that she makes it through and finds the right path. You are so loved Demi. Loved and cherished beyond measure. Stay strong.
Addiction is real. I don’t think Demi will ever read this but I’ve been sober five years and everyday is a battle and we do relapse and we do fall but we get up and after the shame and hurt we move on and start over and we do it all again. Love you Demi. I’m 53 years old and your music moves me and motivates me
The fact that she didn't promote this song is amazing, she knew her fans will find out about it. It's meant for the Lovatics and I think it's beautiful.
"I'm sorry to myself." That hit me hard. TBH tho this whole song is just so emotional. I wanna be a role model...but I’m only human” Demi, you being so honest and vulnerable is such an inspiration in itself. You are singing about something that people can deeply relate to. And in making yourself vulnerable, your fans can better connect with you and understand you. Your true fans will always stick by you, and will always see you as a role model, because they understand all that you’ve been through and how hard you’ve fought as a fellow human.

She absolutely does. The longest I have been sober is four months. I can't seem to stop, no matter how hard I try, and I have been battling 6 years now, this alcoholism. This song makes me cry. Along with Dancing With the Devil. Unless you've lived it, you won't get it. People that haven't lived it don't get how hard it actually is to overcome. Luckily I haven't lost my job, or apartment or anything like that over it, but there have been times I have wondered it I was going to.
@@mikehernandez3655 appreciate it. I'm doing a lot better now. I have no idea how much time I have completely clean and sober. I even passed a hair follicle drug test like 2 or 3 months ago for a new job, which I never thought I'd be able to do.
@@ROT4RYfc3s props to you, man. I know it’s not easy, but the reward is worth it. You did the damn thing, so be proud of yourself and confident in who you are and who you want to be.
This is vulnerable, real, and emotional. She's only human. She makes mistakes. She isn't perfect. She goes through struggles like everyone else. I love her for being honest and real in this song when she didn't have to be. This received no promo. Literally one tweet from her and it went #1 on iTunes and has over 1.7 million views. The numbers don't matter though because this was a song for us, the fans and the people close to her. Honestly, this is better than No Tears Left To Cry. I wasn't expecting this from Demi but I still love it. It's beautiful but it's sad. If she falls we catch her. That's what fans do. I just love her so much.
It kills me to know how disappointed Demi is in herself. She finally broke her sobriety and the first thing she did was apologize for it. She feels so horrible for doing it and probably thinks that everyone else does too. She probably expects to lose fans over this and for everyone to be disappointed in her. She isn't proud of herself for staying sober for 6 years but instead disappointed in breaking sobriety after 6 years. It kills me to think about how much hate she probably gave herself because of this and I am so proud of her for staying strong for this long. When something as heartbreaking as this happens she gets out there and tells her story through a beautiful song. So please instead of leaving Demi like she thought so many people would do, stay and support this amazingly strong and talented woman.
I remember her breaking down in tears at her Brooklyn concert for making it 6 years sober. She’s fought this and can and will again. People will relapse but so long as your willing, you can overcome anything. You may fall a few times, but keep getting back up and you’ll see one day you can finally stand. #StayStrong
None For All I wrote a hopefully inspiring comment for Demi and others struggling. Let’s not start things by saying darker skinned women are less than. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion but just know that my opinion is that darker skinned people are JUST as beautiful and talented as light skinned people. It’s the person not the complexion! It’s okay to express your opinion but you have to be mindful that words can have a detrimental effect on someone. It wouldn’t be nice if someone downgraded you for your skin tone or religion, etc. It’s important to be mindful of other people’s feelings and to remember that we are all the same, that is to say, humans. My light skin doesn’t mean I’m more beautiful or talented than a dark skin woman. Have a happy blessed day everyone!
Every time you fall, I promise you will get back up, and you will be stronger than you were before. Stay strong and take as much time as you need Demi.
This girl is haunted with so many demons in her life, I admire her constant fight to reach peace. She is admirable because she has not acted as a perfect person throughout all of this!! I hope Demi can get help, God is love and I hope you find love in him!!!
I don't know if you'll see this but thank you for being a kind soul. It's not like you commented after what happened. You brought me to more tears then I was before. Your a person that will go down as unnoticed but there. There to give a kind word. Bless you.
Everyone has their bad days. Recovery is hard, but we know you will get through this setback & we hope the best for you. We love you Demi & stay strong ❤️
Topaz Wierdo I don't think she has, I think she just remembered how she felt the times she relapsed in order to write the song. It's something most of songwriters do, chill out fam.
I am a counselor in a drug and alcohol treatment facility and my group wanted to find a song I think they would relate to. So I came straight to this song. My clients were in tears because many related to it. The men and women had tears flowing. It's such a deep song. It makes me wish my mom would say these things to me. But I'm not losing hope. Recovery is possible. Don't judge the addict, you don't know what they have gone through.
Eve Xox yeah she takes drugs to try to heal herself. Cause she has problems that you and i don’t know the half of. There’s no need to use the term “druggy” against her. She’s hurting. I am not making any excuses. Even if she wasn’t a celebrity i would still say the same thing. I feel sorry for her and i just want to give her a hug. That’s all i said.
Dear Demi, You have never let your fans down. Instead, those who left have let you down. You are very strong to share this life story with us. We are sorry that you are not sober. We will always love you, what you stand for and your music no matter what happens. You have help many of us get through depression, suicidal thoughts and bullying. Stay strong, you will get through this! You are always a role model to us, Lovatics. Love, All the Lovatics around the world..
I am not addict to alcohol but I feel this song in a very deep way. I am still not sober from my demons and I wonder if I will ever be. Thank you Demi for standing for me when I could not. Skyscraper saved me in so many ways it is hard to explain. You gave me the voice I did not have. I will always thank you for being there, even if just with your music. Recovery is a long journey, but you are not alone. ❤️
Giorgia same. I relate to her in having done everything except drugs. this really saddens me... I hope someone helps her. and I hope you get help too. you deserve it. 💓💓
Yes! I was actually so troubled with the “I’m sorry to my future love” line because I thought it had nothing to do with the whole theme of the song, but apparently it does. It has always been my favorite line though.
No one can get more vulnerable than this. This was truly heartfelt, I felt like we were all sitting in a room (her fans) & she was singing this to all of us... I hope she knows how much we care for her no matter what ♡
I hope she gets the help she needed. This song was a cry for help, I can't believe they left her feeling lonely again even though she explained everything she was going through. All she needed was someone to take care of her, hold her and tell her that everything will be fine, that we're not giving up on her, that we'll always love her no matter what. Demi, you are so loved and we wish you all the best. I hope you know that!
Sahar Achouri don’t say that they left her to be Lonely again you never know they maybe talked to her and tried to help her but she caved in never assume

I KNOW RIGHT?! That’s why I avoid listening to this. I remember when it all happened. I listened that song on repeat in that night, and cried an entire ocean every single fucking time.
FIJI WATER WELL IF YOU’RE SO FUCKING CONCERNED ABOUT LIL PEEP GO OVER TO ONE OF HIS VIDEOS AND COMMENT. If you don’t care about Demi overdosing and don’t like her as a person, then why did you click on this video?
FIJI WATER it was confirmed that it wasn't heroin just an FYI and either way they both were abusing a substance so I don't really get the point of your comment. You're just hating. The world needs more love, less hate.
Angel Whitehouse but it has to be some opioid she overdosed on. Her „Friends“ had Nalox on their hand and gave it to her and it wouldnt have helped if she did not take opioids.
FIJI WATER no one needs your comment. You’re just a negative person that probably doesn’t love yourself enough. How about you take care of yourself and love yourself? You sound so mean and downright ugly. Absolutely disgusted with this comment.
every single time, that she will perform this song, in the "i'm sorry for the fans i've lost" please, scream "we're here" she's such an vocal angel, she IS a role model, she inspire the people to keep doing their best. I love you Lady Lovato.
This song still gets me every time I hear it.... The first time and every since I first heard it all I think is how if given the chance i wouldn't say a word, I would just want to give you a hug... No words needed.....
@David Fraga the reason it'll never be better than the original is because Demi wrote it. The song itself is hers, the words come from HER heart, and it's HER emotions and experience. That's why it'll never evoke the same feeling when someone else sings it. Plus, this is a song about addiction, relapse, drugs, and that's a kid singing it. She's clearly never experienced the words from 'Sober', so there's a huge disconnect.
@David Fraga not really comparable. One's a kid, the other is Demi lol... Not sure what your point is. If you're trying to put Demi down then don't bother. She's amazing.
The fact she made this song in a way anyone, no matter what hole they fell back in, they can relate to, not just those dealing with an alcohol addiction. Thank You Demi, we all needed this.
This is just heartbreaking. Demi is a beautiful soul, so honest and brave. No one is perfect... we all make mistakes, and some of them over and over again. The most important thing is to keep pushing forward, learning, trying to do better and improve yourself always.
That is true for some things, but addiction in particular is a complex problem, not an easy fix. When dealing with ANY mental issue, you're going to struggle with always staying in control of yourself, especially when times get tough. People with mental disorders have difficulty coping with emotional problems and sometimes end up slipping back into old patterns/behaviors that make them feel better (for the moment). There is no "excuse" per se, but there IS an explanation for it... and people just aren't perfect. The most they can do is keep trying.

‘sober’ has to be one of the most saddest songs demi has ever released and recorded. it actually breaks my heart, one of the hardest songs i’ve ever listened too. it’s crazy to think this would’ve been their last song released. i thank god that demi is still here today, i don’t know what i would do without them. i’ve been a fan since 2011. i love them so much :(
A role model isn’t someone who backs down. A role model is a person who gets back up. You are not just a role model but you are a warrior and a survivor who didn’t give up. You are amazing ❤️
Aww it’s okay Demi 😭. Demi we are your fans and we are here for you! You don’t have to get through this alone. We will always love you no matter what happens.
We are with you Demi and no matter how many times you fall, but you must be strong and resist everything that comes because you have your family, your friends and your fans who support you unconditionally. Please you don't give up and keep fighting. WE LOVE U @ddlovato! ❤

So much has happened since this was released.i remember arguing with my mum about it, I knew it was a literal confession and mum was in denial and thought it was a just a song based on the past. I'm so proud of how far demi has come in these short 4 years. Stay strong everyone 🌻 it's worth it. I promise.
This is sad because Demi’s basically apologising to every person in this world that knows her. And this totally hits me that everyone doesn’t live a good life. And we still love you Demi!

Took me 4 overdoses, jail time, and all my dignity before I finally got sober... I love this song, the lyrics really hit home. I love the realness. 12yrs clean... Relapse is a part of recovery.
Relapse doesn't have to be a part of recovery, but it does happen to a lot of people. The important thing is to keep working towards getting and staying sober. I'm 8 years sober without a relapse, but I stay very aware that it's a possibility the moment I ease up on my program. I'm happy you got there, and keep going :)
"I'm sorry for the fans I lost" you never lost us, you just showed us that everyone is human and that everyone needs love and support. You are still an amazing role model. And don't be sorry to us, you've helped many of us live till now.
This song is everything. Honest, real, emotional, heartbreaking, beautiful. This is Demi's truth. I don't care whether you like her or not, it takes guts to come out and admit that you've relapsed after 6 years. Especially when you feel a responsibility to so many people. Listening to how sorry she is for disappointing not just her family and friends but her fans as well absolutely crushed me. She doesn't owe us anything. She never said she was perfect. She didn't lie or betray anyone. She has an ADDICTION. There is no cure for addiction. Relapse is always a possibility, it's actually very common but there's a stigma behind it. It's a part of addiction that's not really talked about except in a negative way. If you relapse you have failed. You are a failure. You are beyond saving. That is simply not true. You suffer from an ADDICTION. Relapse is a part of recovery. I'm not gonna lie, it sucks. The feelings of guilt and shame are normal. But it's not the end of the world. You CAN get through it. You are NOT a failure. You suffer from an ADDICTION. And more importantly, you are HUMAN. You are not perfect. You make mistakes but you get back up (rise from the ground like a skyscraper) and you move on. Thank you Demi for being so honest. Thank you for being you. It's okay. I love you. I am proud of you ❤
Demi Lovato will ALWAYS be my favorite singer because she doesn't hide. Her songs are real and you can hear her pain. Her songs help SO many people not just addicts, even addicts loved one's and others too. She is amazing, addict or not.

Hey demi, if by some miracle if this doesn’t get lost in the 43,000 comments, I want to share something with you. I’ve been struggling with drugs (now cough syrup, pills, and liquor) ever since I was 12 and my brother convinced me pot would help with my depression. After relapsing over and over, I was embarrassed, tired, and I felt weak. But I’m getting through it and your music always helped. Sure, people who don’t love me leave. But, people who do love me seem to remember my progress first and foremost and over look my flaws. Love you demi, Good luck. Edit: I had an EP on my computer I wasn’t going to release for a couple months, but the support and love here has been so great that I wanted to release it early in hopes that some people here who are struggling with depression and addiction can find some peace of mind and / or decent advice. Good luck friends! Thanks for listening!

It’s so sad how she’s apologizing for breaking her soberty, as if she has disappointed us. WE love you Demi and we know how hard it must have been with everything you’ve been through, and we support you. I remember her breaking down in tears at her Brooklyn concert for making it 6 years sober. She’s fought this and can and will again. People will relapse but so long as your willing, you can overcome anything. You may fall a few times, but keep getting back up and you’ll see one day you can finally stand. #StayStrong
None For All what? Get your racist irrelevant comment out of here
None For All youre racist and your just so dumb so I won't let you spread all your dumb negative stuff. You have ugly bad personality
None For All wtf are us saying racist ass , this is not your place go play some fortnite with donald trump
None For All you are an ignorant...please shut your mouth the world will appreciate it
None For All I wrote a hopefully inspiring comment for Demi and others struggling.

Peace Salazar the two people who sing let it go they both just kill me with their voices 😩😩😩😩
this song hits different knowing she actually broke soberity when she wrote this . here from dancing w the devil
I mean that was kinda clear back then too.
This girl is haunted with so many demons in her life, I admire her constant fight to reach peace. She is admirable because she has not acted as a perfect person throughout all of this!! I hope Demi can get help, God is love and I hope you find love in him!!!

Doing heroin isn't admirable
I don't know if you'll see this but thank you for being a kind soul. It's not like you commented after what happened. You brought me to more tears then I was before. Your a person that will go down as unnoticed but there. There to give a kind word. Bless you.

Did she have a relapse?????
Kaitlyn well said
Topaz Wierdo I don't think she has, I think she just remembered how she felt the times she relapsed in order to write the song. It's something most of songwriters do, chill out fam.
This is so emotional for me. It’s an honest call for help. I’m wishing the best for her.
Don't judge the addict, you don't know what they have gone through.
another song i think people will also relate to is demi lovato believe in me
My sobriety date is 7/1/22 so 16 days sober. I’m in inpatient rehab now after detox. I needed to hear this.
I was in my umpteenth treatment center 4 years ago, surrounded by others struggling to change when our councilor played this same song for us.
I am so sorry to hear your mom has a addiction.. is that what drove your want to be a drug counselor
@@gracehoneyy9238 Yes, plus my area is filled with drugs. That's what my town is known for. Drugs! So many need help, so I stepped up
This was literally a cry out for help. Her emotions are so strong in this. I love her so much and i just want to give her a massive hug.
Lora Catrin i hope she doesnt get ligma as a side affect of the overdose
She's a druggy
Eve Xox No she isn’t. She is turning to drugs because she’s struggling and wants to get away from the pain. Read it up.
Lora Catrin she takes drugs the she's a druggy all because she is a celebrity doesn't mean you can make excuses for her .
Dear Demi,
You have never let your fans down.

Truth.🙏
Totally
Exactly
So true
Sahar Achouri what's wrong with her?

Demi Lovato - Sober (Official Lyric Vidoe)
I KNOW RIGHT?! That’s why I avoid listening to this. I remember when it all happened. I listened that song on repeat in that night, and cried an entire ocean every single fucking time.

I respect her for being so honest and acknowledging it. Stay Strong Demi #PrayForDemi
@FIJIWATER I agree. These brainwashed demi whorevato fans are fucking lunatics
every single time, that she will perform this song, in the "i'm sorry for the fans i've lost" please, scream "we're here" she's such an vocal angel, she IS a role model, she inspire the people to keep doing their best. I love you Lady Lovato.
This song still gets me every time I hear it.... The first time and every since I first heard it all I think is how if given the chance i wouldn't say a word, I would just want to give you a hug... No words needed.....
you can tell she wrote this and went in on how she really felt inside.i applaud her honesty
😭😭 the most important thing is "I'm sorry to myself", stay strong y'all and forgive yourselves ♥️🚦
Couldn’t agree more!
when she said *“i’m sorry that i’m here again, i promise i’ll get help... it wasn’t my intention, i’m sorry to myself”*
_i felt that_
Not many people are able to be brutally honest about problems like that!

Here after Demi's dancing with the devil documentary
Saaaaammmmmmeeee !!!!!!!😭
@David Fraga stfu
Me too
@David Fraga the reason it'll never be better than the original is because Demi wrote it.

What happened to her :'(

I hear the pain in Demi's voice. This song is so touching. Incredible.
This is just heartbreaking. Demi is a beautiful soul, so honest and brave. No one is perfect... we all make mistakes, and some of them over and over again. The most important thing is to keep pushing forward, learning, trying to do better and improve yourself always.
vivrelamour thank you so much fo tht
I agree
If you do it over and over again, there should be no more excuses...
Who's here after the docu series? Makes this song even more heartbreaking... Love her so much
Yes!! Hits so differently..!!
i'm wondering if anyone considered she relapsed when listening to the demo
There’s a documentary???? What’s the name???
@@analauragedda8787 There's actually 2 documentaries: Simply Complicated and Dancing with the Devil, which is a little docu series. You can watch them both from here in youtube 😊

Everyone falls. It’s just about getting back up, she will, it might take a while, she did it once, she can do it again
Lizz M pretty sure she's clean now, it's probably a song relating her previous experiences
i dont think shes using drugs again but maybe alcohol. atleast once. thats why she feels guilty.
She's been sober for like 6 years
I also think she's only drinking
And only for once and she's feeling guilty :")

I honestly dont understand the word sober. I mean not drunk? I dont get it in the message of the song...
She has been honest about her issues with cocaine and drinking and she has relapsed.
Sober means completely clean of any substance abuse. So drugs and alcohol. This song is about her relapsing.
Dkyll Exxx she was addicted to drugs and alcohol and she quite it completely for six years which means she was sober for 6 years and then idk what happened but she must have been going through a hard time and she stared drugs and alcohol again so she is not drug and alcohol free anymore so she is not sober anymore
You will never stop being a role model for your fans. You are a warrior and we love you
I couldn't agree more
How the hell is she a warrior. A director wrote a song and she sang it lool she didn’t rip the paper with a sword
Zakawan Malik She is a warrior because she isn't afraid to tell people her weaknesses. She fights threw her problems like a warrior fights threw a battle.
