As both male and female are nearly identical, both birds share brooding, feeding and cleanup, it would be clearer to consider a 50/50, or close to it in terms of which bird is doing what.
There is no love, no hate in these animals, only instinct. 100% of what they do is instinct. They don't have the brain capacity for complex thought, instinct has guided their behavior for thousands times thousands of years.

Skin being rubbed raw from scratching, still itching, can't stop scratching and losing feathers. It must have some sort of skin parasite?? Maybe?? There is no pooping problem, the chick is infested with some sort of parasite, parents are trying to eat them, but the chick is already loaded with them. Would a dust bath help? It's itching so bad it doesn't even want to eat- not good.
