0:41 The Jordanian female band
23:12 The Egyptian female band
There have been very few all-women musical groups in the Arab world - until now.
Jordanian band Naya and Egyptian group The Lady's Drum are among the trailblazers making a name for themselves and performing to big, new audiences.
We go backstage with both groups - sharing the pain of long rehearsals and interminable bus journeys, and the joy and adrenalin of live performances and life away from the stage and spotlight.
We see how the women balance their musical careers with the pressures of motherhood - and how the men in their lives encourage them to break down traditional barriers to female musical empowerment in the Middle East.

So beautiful, looking forward to watch Naya live.
Thanks for sharing 🌹It's refreshing to see young talented women who are willing to break down barriers but at the same time so attached to their traditions and connected with their heritage. Art is so important. It does change lives. I wish them the very best and hope others will be inspired by their example and earn the strenght and confidence to fulfill their dreams.
What a beautiful, truly wonderful story of these women, and their friendships and their lives. I hope they do go international, and I wish them much success 🙌 💕.
I love it when women have a voice, thank you for this story ❤️
Hello, I watched the documentary yesterday by accident and instantly fell in love with the music of this band. But...I cannot find it on Apple Music or anywhere else as a matter of fact. Nothing on TH-cam. Where can I find their tracks/albums? Thank you. I am from Romania (South-Eastern Europe), an orthodox country so no ties to the arabic world.
So the problem is probably that you were searching in English, I tried that and couldn’t find anything, however if you try فرقة نايا which means “Naya band” in Arabic you should find their music, I even found some tracks on Soundcloud. Enjoy!
Great, many thanks!@@mahdedarmo
Beautiful, Naya. And she speaks slow enough for me to understand most. ❤️
I miss the old country 🥹
We non arabs are like dying to learn Arabic while native arabs don't value this blessing & instead resort to demonic music.
💋
Is no one giving them any studio time it sounds like something I made when I was a kindergartener with my f****** karaoke machine
I WISH THEY DID SOMETHING BENEFICIAL FOR THE HUMAN KIND.
What do you mean? Singing ancient songs isn't doing good for humanity? Showing no prejudice? Joy isn't good enough for you? Would you like to see them crying and lamenting ? Or your problem is just because they are women?? You were born from a Woman!! Don't be such an idiot.
@billikash2591
Don't you think Art is important and brings joy to people?
What did YOU do for human kind ?
