Not in SI, DI, 360, GPS, Networking, follow contour. Garmin only had Live and I question that now with Live 2.0(see the videos being released on TH-cam). That is until Garmin releases the next $2000 version of Livescope. There is only so much you can gain with live until 360 live. But wait, does Garmin have 360?
@ Garmin has 1200 kHz side and down imaging. They haven’t used 800 in like 4 years. And even that 800 was hard to beat. I’m assuming you’ve never owned a Garmin.

I’m not so sure I’m running to the company that is trying to sell me something but one of the first things they both say is that they’ve been using said company forever. I get it but in todays day, I wanna hear from the guy that uses it all.
Two features that I would love to see in new units. #1) Never brick your unit. If anything fails ... an update, a reboot, whatever, have a hardware reset button on the back of the case that reimages the unit to a known good image so you don't have to mail in a bricked unit (unless there is hardware damage). Macintosh has had this in their OS for decades. #2) assigned software meaning to either the waypoint icons and/or colors. Meaning, I could tell the system "delete any green icon" after it is X hours/days old. So, can put any 'temporary' icons in green or use the baitfish icon and know they won't be on the system forever. Personally, I mark structure with Red or Yellow. Then when I go out for the day, I'll mark fish in blue/green/purple. Next time I go out I'll click on each Blue/green/purple icon and delete them manually. All of this said, the XPlore looks nice and I'll end up buying one soon.
Still running lowrance hds carbon, never jumped over to live or pro, because I just wasn't impressed. I definitely will be switching to hummingbird explore, well done guys!
I have M360 and three helix 12 units. In fact, I bought a gen4 helix 12 earlier this year. Now ML2 comes out and I can't use it with out buying an xplore. Glad I have Garmin for my bow live unit. Based on the HB promo video, Garmin still seems superior. Once Garmin comes out with their next gen of live, I'll be investing in that without needing to also buy another expensive graph I don't need. Humminbird still has most of the wallet share in my boat - just not live.
I have used Humminbird for over 25 years and the new Xplorer locks absolutely fantastic, but Mega 2 seems like too much hype. The simulation looks fantastic but the real footage of it being used doesn't look any different than what I already have. The simulations never reflect what it really looks like for real usage. @@thomaswalus7608 The answer to your question, if you want it, is at Humminbird Customer Service, which I am not. You might want to ask some questions about Garmin though...
Products look awesome, but so did MegaLive 1 and now my entire setup is "obsolete". If I could use it with Helix, this would be a no brainer for me, but completely starting over with my setup would be a steep investment. Unfortunately, ML2 looks comparable to LVS34, maybe a little better based on these controlled presentations. With the recent mass discounts on Garmin products over Black Friday, there is no doubt in my mind that LVS34 is being replaced with something even better. I just think HB is going to stay one-step behind the competition in the FFS game and it is going to be hard for me to trust that I am getting a comparable product in ML2. That being said, Xplore looks awesome and incorporates several of the features I was praying for a Helix update to bring.
@ This is pretty common in electronics, you see it in the photography industry too. But where my frustration comes is that I had the trust that HB wouldn’t just push out a FFS that was sub-par to the competitors, which ML1 absolutely was when it came out. Then the updates kept improving it and I believed that it was just a software problem that HB seemed motivated to fix with the constant updates.

Sounds great, hope that worth it. Mega live 1 was a piece of sh*t, sold it and forgot.)) Time will show. Will ML2 work with Helix Gen3? Any additional "black box" needed to work with or directly through ethernet interface like ML1?
It will not work with any of the Helix models. The processing power of the transducers inside the head units. Helix uses single core processors. These new ones have quad core processors. No black box
I can understand getting rid of the Helix line, the last few generations have had lots of problems. I know l have had multiple problems with multiple units to the point where I really just want to rid myself of them. All the new stuff sounds great but if it has a bunch of problems then what’s the point?
Yup im switching to Garmin. Way cheaper than going brand new units. This mega live2 is only best catered to existing users of the slowlex and the apex models. I aint buying no new XPLORE since i just bought my G4N Helix units thinking software updates would help with my mega live. This is just a bad move Humminbird. I am selling my units and going GARMIN.

More sales HYPE, how about actual engineering/test results... I have MegaLive1, lure tracking sucks.... 1/8oz jig can be seen up 33', coming and going on display. What will ML2 display a 1/8oz out to???
what is the size of lure? I meet the same problem. I cast 6-7in soft baits and max you can see is 46'. This is the main problem of ML1, on lvs these is no problem 70 > 80'

That is until Garmin releases the next $2000 version of Livescope. There is only so much you can gain with live until 360 live. But wait, does Garmin have 360?
That’s debatable.
@@Honks34 You think Garmins 800hz side imaging is close to Humminbirds mega? Whatever you are smoking, can you share?
@ Garmin has 1200 kHz side and down imaging. They haven’t used 800 in like 4 years. And even that 800 was hard to beat. I’m assuming you’ve never owned a Garmin.
@@Honks34 I own both and only use my Garmins with the LVS34. I own pretty much everything Garmin (Hunting, Health products, watch, etc ) but honestly, their mapping and DI/SI isn't even close to humminbird. It pains me to say that but it's true.
Not happy with huminbird.

Can you imagine just buying a helix that costs thousands waiting on the new generation of mega live just to find out it's useless and you wasted your money. Transparency is a must with customers instead of luring them with Black Friday deals as a money grab for outdated units. Build an external processor and make this right with loyal customers. BTW if this happened to you it would be much cheaper just to go with Garmin or Lowrance. It still dosen't compete with Garmin from the appearance in this video.
Spot on
Wait for reality mega live 2 😄
Screw over all the loyal helix owners
To be specific, only the Helix 8, 12,and 15 Helix owners.
LOL you probably get a new phone every 1-2 years. Come on man it is time. The Helix processor speed is slow.
I will buy them since they are no good anymore lol
@@jonmartinez1855you may get a new phone every two years . Not me. I am retired on a fixed income. Invested 8 k in last two years for electronics and now these are legacy units
Y’all wanna take an average Joe of a fisherman like myself and show the world how much your technology improves his fishing?
What's the difference between Apex and Explorer models?
so excited
same 🎣
I love humminbird products, but man if I’m going to have to buy a whole new set up… Why not just make they switch to Garmin? Helix customers really got screwed on this deal.
So will the update on my Apexs and Solix G3s have the same features as the Explorer? Anyone know?
Does the Explore draw more battery power compared to a similar sized Helix ? Here's something I've mentioned before...adding Side Imagining to the mapping screen would be amazing....like auto chart does.
I love humminbird
Loved the Helix for SI, but what’s the point of buying something for that price when you get a better product with the OG 2015 Garmin panoptix? Garmin FFS, Bird everything else
Panoptix Livescope was released in 2018. Before that Panoptix wasn't even usable for Cast Fishing.
@ still use the 2017 OG panoptix for my FFS on the boat now. Bought it for ice fishing and just rig it on the boat in the summer. Not as easy to find your bait but still shows bottom comp, and if it’s a fishy area or not
I’m not so sure I’m running to the company that is trying to sell me something but one of the first things they both say is that they’ve been using said company forever.
Damn, have to pick up an Xplore 12, Megalive 2, and a new Terrova. I’ll just take out a 20 year loan to pay it off.
Mega loan….mega interest….discontinued before you pay it off
Still running lowrance hds carbon, never jumped over to live or pro, because I just wasn't impressed. I definitely will be switching to hummingbird explore, well done guys!
The xplore and mega live 2
There's should be also new firmwares with new Waypoint management...😊
@xoctlv there's a new software indeed for waypoint management
I have M360 and three helix 12 units. In fact, I bought a gen4 helix 12 earlier this year. Now ML2 comes out and I can't use it with out buying an xplore. Glad I have Garmin for my bow live unit. Based on the HB promo video, Garmin still seems superior. Once Garmin comes out with their next gen of live, I'll be investing in that without needing to also buy another expensive graph I don't need. Humminbird still has most of the wallet share in my boat - just not live.
Z you nailed it
I have used Humminbird for over 25 years and the new Xplorer locks absolutely fantastic, but Mega 2 seems like too much hype. The simulation looks fantastic but the real footage of it being used doesn't look any different than what I already have. The simulations never reflect what it really looks like for real usage. Just from what I have seen.
Soo true. The simulation is based on the perfect water condition with no current, no algae/water impurities, no waves. Nothing in the real world.
Mega live2 looks almost as good as my lvs34 transducer on a gpsmap 1022.
Does it have HDMI out for tv’s in an Ice Fishing Shack ?
In reality that feature would have to be on it to be mildly successfull.
No, Apex units have HDMI in/out
So which is better for Mega Live 2 ....Solix 10 or an Explorer 10?
I cant wait to get one
The Explore graph is the fastest and most user friendly unit I have ever seen! Paired with the Mega Live 2 you don't miss anything!
Thought these aren't even out yet.

Why Mega Live 2 not go with Helix Gen 4?
Why humminbird realease Gen4 ???
Processor speed my man. The G4 was released in 2000. That is a long time for electronics.
@jonmartinez1855 No sir, Helix Gen4 realease 01.10.2020 and I by it now
4 years in the electronics world is still a long time...😊

Sorry then I go with Garmin !
@@thomaswalus7608 The answer to your question, if you want it, is at Humminbird Customer Service, which I am not. You might want to ask some questions about Garmin though...
FREAKIN DEADLY! 🙌
Agree. So much for the investment with Helix. They should offer a trade in offer!

Stole the Garmin interface. Shocking 😂
I have the first gen Mega Live and it's not good. I'm hoping that Humminbird will help it's customer out by offering a trade in program for the new Mega Live 2.
I also have ML first gen, dont hold your breathe...
yes ML1 is complete mistake, they shouldn't give it on a market. It would be correct move from Hummi to give remarkable discount for ML1 holders.
I wonder how much it weighs? That "black box" on the back should be separate. I bet its heavy and is going to crack some dashes.
It looks equal to Garmin now id say, maybe a touch better. Hummingbird definitely had better maps
$4K for an ice fishing set up??
Looks to be $1,500 for megalive 2 transducer, and 1,500 for an Xplore 9. Not bad. Anyone know if anything else is needed for ice fishing, bedsides a shuttle, battery and pole?
I am mega pissed I purchased mega live. I have 3 helix 12s, a helix 10 and mega 360. My buddies have Lowrance and garmin ffs, when I fish in their boats -I am mega regretting my purchase the entire time.
Mega pissed😂
Of all the guys to have in the video.. KVD, dude is shameless. Few months ago he blasted FFS!
Spent 7k on helix g4ns last year thinking they will have updates to make them compatible. Waited forever assuming humminbird would finally announce new mega live that could actually compete with my buddies garmins. Im not going out and spending 10 grand on units only for them to release a mega live 3 a few years later cause number 2 still cant compete with garmin. Youve lost a 20 year loyal customer and probably many others.😢
Can you change your chart map pointer to black? The think I dislike the most about my Helix is I can't see the !@#@#!#@ pointer. Meanwhile I can see my Lowrance pointer all the way across the boat. I hope Humminbird was smart enough to give the user the option to change the pointer color.
Bigger FFT costs money
My LVS34 is still better. Love my 12 inch Solix too. I don’t see anything that is equal or better than my current setup.
Pissed off helix owner. 7 k down the drain. Garmin in my future
@sparkfuzz1177 thanx for the the answer! Little bit upset about Helix...(( Anyway, I'll watch beyond. Best wishes.
Lightning fast user interface - boy would have been nice to have that on my $3,000 Solix instead of it being a laggy POS
I can understand getting rid of the Helix line, the last few generations have had lots of problems. I know l have had multiple problems with multiple units to the point where I really just want to rid myself of them. All the new stuff sounds great but if it has a bunch of problems then what’s the point?

More sales HYPE, how about actual engineering/test results... I have MegaLive1, lure tracking sucks.... 1/8oz jig can be seen up 33', coming and going on display. What will ML2 display a 1/8oz out to???
