“ you’ve done me a good turn sharp. Now I’m going to do you a bad one” i love that
He wanted to recognize Sharpe for a valorous act, but knew he would catch Hell from other officers because he wasn't a "gentleman."
I get the feeling he prays that he won't get promoted AGAIN...
Starts the whole series.
@@karazor-el6085 It actually starts this craze for him to get promoted to a rank that just couldn't be disrespected or taken away from him. I believe by the end of the series he held the rank of Colonel and was even reffered to and respected as one even after "retiring"
When he said, "still sharp" in Lord of the Rings, I cheered.
Sharpe had 9 lives, Boromir however... :(
Oh ! I never picked up in that -RATS !
@@binisnejm9354 and you sir have 10 likes now
Now I've got to go and watch it for the 22nd time!Still, there are worse things to be doing right now,I suppose.
If you find that funny, look for "Project Elrond" in "The Martian".
That dog is a good actor, you would swear that was his real owner.
7:01 I love the way Sharpe shoves the officer that tried to trip him up. Bloody toff definitely didn't expect that, just fell back like the wimp he is!
Just a southern Nancy compared to the northern bastard
The entire British army just stood there watching Wellington get chased, almost as if they expected Sean bean to saves the day.
The director only had money for 2 leads, a horse and a dog. The bit players cost next to nothing, ergo... ;-)
Standing by while the Duke of Wellington gets ambushed till one man saves him....now that's soldering
uploading all sharpe episodes on youtube. Now that's soldiering!
😄😄😄😄👍!
Ah, the memories. When I first watched this, I asked my dad why those french guys had popcorn bags on their hats.
a fair question
To keep them from baking their brains in black wool shakos. Pretty smart actually
@@ridgerunnersurvival Often they were oilskin to protect them from rain.
Because they're French, son. Because they're French.
@Jack Tangles actually I relayed that reply from a very smug Welshman ;-)
Brian Cox is such a great actor. Love seeing him in these olde Sharpe episodes.
He was sorely missed throughout the rest!
Hogan was a brilliant character. A perfect fit as Sharpe’s mentor.
All 16 movies are worth watching.
Sharpe's Rifles
Sharpe's Eagle
Sharpe's Company
Sharpe's Enemy
Sharpe's Honour
Sharpe's Gold
Sharpe's Battle
Sharpe's Sword
Sharpe's Regiment
Sharpe's Siege
Sharpe's Mission
Sharpe's Revenge
Sharpe's Justice
Sharpe's Waterloo
Sharpe's Challenge
Sharpe's Peril
Watch them in order!
watched all the movies and led line battles on multiple games? now that's soldiering
I disagree: Gold is a complete mess and Justice is borderline boring
Even better, get the audiobooks. And start, not in order of release, but order of sharpes career. The books written later, but cover his time as a regular soldier getting promoted each time, are particularly brilliant and cover his time in India better than the shows.
watched the movies...theres a game?
Wot about 'Sharpe's crumpet.'?
I was a little girl when my Aunt introduced me to the Sharpe series and started my life long affair with Sean Bean and the Sharpe series. I went from watching the series, to reading the books. You know what? I love both versions the same. They're both unique creations and deserve their own respect.
women don't exist on the internet, sir
@@jacobpeters5458 How about you go back to the dark ages from whence you belong, sir.
@@AhsokaTanoTheWhite Wow, you must be fun at parties.
@@jacobpeters5458 across the span of time, a legitimate lol. bravo.
@@AhsokaTanoTheWhite ah yes. Because women did not existed back in the dark ages. I remember the time we write our sexist posts on castle walls and capture a random Sarmatian, put his head a wig made of horse hair, and force him to read it, only to realise that none of us were educated to know how to read.
Sad times.
8:04- 'What do you do when you are short of cash Sharpe?'
'Do without Sir'
Now thats soldiering
Everyone with a part time minimum wage job just nodded.
"You did me a damn good turn. Now, Im going to do you a damn bad one. Lieutenant"
Truer words never were spoken.
Thank you, Northern Wolf! You've done us all a great turn....you uploaded Sharpes Rifles episodes in increments so that it remains available to the series fans.
Thank you for posting these bits of an outstanding series! It was still is, one of the best productions every made on this period. I loved the music too!
I love how fast Sharpe heals! He gets a saber wound across his back and the next day or so he’s fighting Harper! Lol 😂
my boi sharpe simply built different
That's Soldiering!
That's Universal Soldiering.
I would just like to take a moment and thank you for uploading all of these. And organizing them all in one playlist.
Thankyou
I checked these out from my library 8 years ago and watched a few. My dad loved them! He watched them ALL...lol I enjoy them more with time.
At the end of high school I went to the library for some reason and came home with several of the Sharpe series books. That was the first time I had read for pleasure and was the start of a life long love of reading. That was 32 year ago.
Amazingly well produced movies seeing as their budget was like $350 a movie
You mad man, you managed to put the whole show on youtube, truly amazing.
You can dodge a lot when things are uploaded in parts 😉
@@bigmoniesponge my heart bleeds. There should be a cut off point to the piracy laws. After 20years people should be allowed to upload them
@@bigmoniesponge I agree
I’ve watched this series over and over yet I still watch the TH-cam clips as if it’s my first time
I hope you found as much entertainment watching Hornblower :)

1:12 79th, Cameron Highlanders, huzzaaah!
Thanks for posting these episodes, it saves time. Great series by Bernard Cornwell
8:53 Snorting a line of chop in front of your superior officer, now that's soldiering!
I tremendously miss Hogan. He made the first two episodes/movies.
It’s not actually crack, it’s snuff. Powdered tobacco inhalation was very common back then.
It always amuses me that the Sharpe novels became regarded as classics within the space of about 10 years from publication of Sharpe's Rifles. That it happened so quickly is nothing short of amazing. Just goes to show what captivating reading they are.
of course, ol' sharpie was already an officer by this time. so i prefer to think of the films as alternate history of sharpe.
Especially so when Sharpe in the books already served under Wellesley in the 33rd in India for a fair while.
@@OutspokenSeeker he was made an Ensign in India, but when he became a rifleman he was promoted to Leftenant as there are no Ensigns in the Rifles.
The film simply omits that detail and promotes him straight to Lt.
How sharpe even stays conscious through that entire pool conversation when his back is covered in blood, I do not know. It looks like he's going to faint almost from the start.
Stupid bit of trivia. Most of the cavalry of the Napoleonic Era believed that the point of the sword was the only way to deliver a killing blow, and sharpened only the first 5 or 6 inches of the blade.
As late as 1913 Lt. George Patton (yes, that Patton) designed the US Model 1913 cavalry saber and it emphasized the thrust nearly to the exclusion of the slash.
The best , a hint of the real problems..and a hint of what to do ...a grande tale.
Great series . Great story . Sean Bean brilliant and his buddy Patrick .Great !
I love how his reaction to being tripped was to very aggressively shove the other person
The "hats" you see are "foraging covers" to protect their caps that are under the covers. These were worn while the men foraged for food, hunting and so forth.
Imagine an electric guitar riff when Frodo is wrestling Smeagol above the fire of mount doom. Lol. Im happy we continue to progress in that regard
I loved this series. Imagine what they could have done with a bigger budget.
I loved when he pushed the man back. Haha
Eyes down for a full house, it's his lordship. Now that's Delboying.
Haha sweet, finished the series a week ago, once you get in to watching it you forget how old it is. Waterloo is still the best episode ever.
This series is so sharp (pun intended) because Cornwell is a dashed good writer
Sharpe surviving all these movies and battles is now why a Sean Bean Character can never survive another movie
He used up all his lives in the Sharpe series. :D
Eh, he survived in Jupiter Rising-they even joke how he figured he was dead, also, National Treasure.
Love the picture of dog running along the horse chase and barking. I bet that was hell of a fun for him.
First started reading Sharpe's Fortress the other day. Damn good book.
Loved these, SB was so good in them.
BEAN IS THE MAN!!! :-) Thanks for posting this amazing show.
There are so many sexual innuendos in that.
"Of course you know, Sir Arthur, that he'll need a mentor..."
"Hogan, you keep you're hands off him Hogan is an officer on my, er...my staff. !"
2:53 ''one does not simply walk into Spain''
Why on earth did they exchange David Troughton? His acting was an absolute joy to behold, and positively outshines the replacement as well as the protagonist. Well done, Sir!
I heard something about him not wanted to back on set in the Ukraine
HELL EFFIN' YES! I have been looking for these videos for so long! Thanks! Awesome uploads!
THx you man, if u could, what next chapter is then after that , would be very nice of if u would :D, dont wanna miss a chapter at all cost.
The beginning to an epic series... Well Done! Well Done indeed!
Sean used all his plot armor in this show.
Sean Bean rocks!
Thanks for uploading this marvelous series!
I remember when I did as well - Oh wait that was just last month! Lol, I'm a War of 1812 reenactor in Canada - It's awesome. Great people, interesting hobby, and lots of drink too!
do you reenact the gangrene that killed more soldiers than musketballs?? :))))
jk that's cool. any vids?
Another 11 moveis, so youre saying that there is 27 in total? I listed all 16.
Lmao Crazy to find you here! Clips from the show were recommended randomly on my feed and I decided to look for episodes. Now I see the one guy who would enjoy a show about battle field tactics. I know for sure this will be worth watching.
Hello sir.
DIPLEX!! it’s been awhile my friend how goes the videos
Hahaha crazy
The occasional musical stings of 70s guitar make me depressed
I remember my friends and me liked to play as soldiers from this period when we were kids :P
You were very sophisticated kids.
Was brought up on this. It's such a great series!
@IndigoNeutrino The music can be found on an album called "Over the Hills and Far Away: The Music of Sharpe" and I think it is on Amazon, at least that's where I bought my copy. Hope that helps.
Ah back in the days when you could snort a couple of lines in front of a general
It's tobaccy not Cahcane
so the french guy has a loaded handgun but would rather charge with a sword, very noble these guys
It's what they were trained to do. Until the end of the first world war, cavalrymen were told that the pistol was a backup to the sword. And consequently, a secondary weapon.
@@edwardtroth8630 oh that's odd to me but I'm not a soldier. Thanks
Having fought in a modern war its hard to comprehend the glacial scale of warfare.
aye music met the times and series brilliantly, and john tams ace voice
Yum, oporto chicken. I wish I'd taken the city too. Nothing like a good burger straight from the source.
Interesting how Sharpe is standing in the middle of that puddle when he throws the Frenchman off his horse... and suddenly they are both on dry soil so the poweder stays dry for Sharpe to being able to shoot the 3rd Rider... hmpf ; )
The best part of this entire thing is Liz Hurley getting her cans out.
Absolutely love the music at the beginning. Wish I could find a full recording of it somewhere.
there music on TH-cam under John Tams(Hagman)
i love how shapre has to single handedly defeat 3 french cavalry men, while the others just stand there and watch.
Ikr a whole platoon just sat by and said sod it I want my lunch
i also like how the main battle that served as the climax of the film never actually happened.
i can't believe Sharpe started the year i was born in...i haven't had the chance to watch it but i'm a huge Sean Bean fan so here goes.......
A man in uniform, lol! I think that was the sole reason I watched part of one ;)
Sean Bean great as Sharpe a British Soldier during the Napoleonic Wars! Top performance!😉💂🔫⚔️🇬🇧🇪🇸
And so the series that made my teenage years begins...
i dont often watch sharpe, but when i do i squirt out of every orifice and lay spent at the fucking epicness that is sean bean in his best role ever. also this is the best program/film series ever and is non-arguable end of story.
The only franchise where Sean Bean lives.
when you save someones life he tends to like you.
@IndigoNeutrino Over the hills and far away: The music of Sharpe still can be found on at least some sites
that bit where he gets tripped is fucking awesome!
Its David Troughton as Wellington. Son of Patrick Troughton (2nd, and best, Dr Who)The guy who played him in the rest of the series is Hugh Fraser, very good in the role but I think Troughton is better. While Fraser looks a little more like Wellington,Troughton appears to move sound and act much more like the Peer himself.
At 9:28 Hogan refers to the riflemen as " sharp shooters" . I could be wrong but I believe that term was not used untill the American civil war when it was used in regard to union soldiers using sharps rifles
What a lot of people don’t realize is that if Britain had not been involved in the Napoleonic war, it is very unlikely America would have won our independence. The combination of that war and the seer logistics aided America.
Yeah, that sounds about right.... I can't really remember myself... Long time since I read those books!
I say, all the soldiers in the background, where were they when the master was attacked...?
hahahaha :D I also had a big plan of my "fortress" on paper :D With alot of soldiers, barracks, cannons etc :D
it's been awhile since I read the series - but as I recall Dick and Wellesley had met at Seringpatam and Sharpe received his battlefield commission after saving his life at Assaye correct? I assume the scene with the French dragoons at the beginning is meant to approximate that event.
They just aren't prepared to deal with the manliness that is Sean Bean. *rowr*
Best motivational music ever!!!
Sharpe rocks!!
:)
If you're watching the playlist "Sharpe episodes in cronological order, all of them" then it's NOT all of them, and it's NOT in order.
Just so you know...
the dog takes a good part.
despite the fact that sean bean does not look at all as described in the books he was perfect for the part
A winning formula, tough battle hardened and respected lieutenant leads his men on a do or die mission into no mans land on a false premise and survives ...... somebody re wrote this story, added a Huey a Little Richard song, 4 ounces of chewing tobacco and a mini-gun and called it .... ‘ Predator’ !!!
British soldiers actually were not issued tents in this period. They curled up in their blankets and whatever they could scrounge together for shelter.
"do without sir". Wellington's face : Omg he is uneducated and I made him an officer.
John ham: I actually read it differently. I thought it might be a look of respect and admiration.
I find his look to be more amused than disappointed. In a way I like to think it makes him see that Sharpe is different in more ways than one, but a creative soul in the face of adversity. Don't have money? You make due without. No robbery, no stealing, not even borrowing. He was likely very well aware that a Sergeant was likely to be "uneducated". Common soldiers often were. In the end, though, Sharpe showed himself far more capable than pretty much every other field officer. Both in ways of shooting and leading.
This series was just never the same without Holdan...
One of the best British imports since the Beatles.
Intend to watch all Sharpe episodes. This is great television..
that green jacket uniform is BADASS
5:25 the guy on right isnt that the king from the troy movie that says “the man wants to die”
when achilles aka brad pitt landed on the beachhead
Yep, Brian Cox.
Sharpe should have died so many times in this series that Sean Bean dies in everything else to keep the balance.
Yea he was made a ensign in the Indian war but hey Sean Bean is amazing they can do whatever they want to these novels (which were amazing, read all Bernards stuff) and it would still be good :D
