    15:42 I can't hear how quiet it is because there's annoying music playing covering up how loud the fan is or isn't.
    I don't know if I should go with liquid cooled or air cooled.

    I think I'm going to get the XPS with 16gb DDR5, I7-12700, 12 cores, 20 threads, not for gaming. But if I do want to game I can, I'm going to install my good ole 1660ti, because I won't have to upgrade the power supply at all. I think Dell are severely underrated these days, they still are the top business PC in the world. Banks, political offices, stores etc. I have an older Inspiron from 2018, never had an issue. But the processor is showing it's age. Nice video.

    I just bought one of these Dell XPS 8950 PCs & like many people who purchased, many have set up issues with the C & D drives of this hybrid style PC. Dell has little support for this issue & Chris in the video hasn't said anything because he stores on his network... Would suggest Chris show an external Sata (from old PC) to Dell SSD or Sata D drive transfer & how its linked? To many this is a missing chapter of support from Dell.

    With the Black Friday in July sale I got a R13 with the Same specs you have (3080 with 10GB not 12GB) but with a 2 TB M.2 drive and 1000 watt PS and Cryro water cooler for $3,139.31 and that's with Tax. I'm getting the Same Chair you got next from Dell.

    For $1188 after taxes, and I added about $150 worth of fans and memory.
    Original Purchase
    i7 12700 Liquid Cooled
    Radeon RX 6700XT
    8GB 4400 DDR5
    256GB NVMe
    750W PSU
    Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E
    Standard Case
    Optical Drive (I know...)
    2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 4400
    Three pack of 120mm Corsair fans (only using 2)
    She runs like a dream. It's also nice to know they'll cover me for any issues I have with the hardware going forward. Delete the bloatware (which was pretty minimal).
    The way it's setup costs WAY less than if I built it from scratch. Saved me time, and all I had to do was turn it on and delete all the BS bloatware. Definitely worth it IMO if you get the DDR5 upgrade. The fans aren't necessary, I did it out of wanting more than just 2 fans in my case.

    • @dv6342
      @dv6342 ปีที่แล้ว

      Overall I saved about $350 plus time building, PLUS having the warranty. Pretty sweet deal. And since I had the memory and fans, it was instantly upgraded. =)

    I found the only XPS 8950 i5 tower that allowed you to upgrade it to an i9 with 1 stick of 8GB of RAM, no vid card 460Watt PSU, smallest 256GB SSD for $1240 USD. I got exact same dell ram from ebay, 8GB x 3 for about $90 vs $200 from dell. So 8GB x 4 in total. I just slapped an RTX 3070 into it. Saved about $700 vs getting the same stuff from Dell. And yes, you can use a 460Watt PSU (with 1 6pin to 8pin adaptor) with the i9 12900k and 3070, both maxed at 100% for hours rendering long videos, and when using MS flight simulator (CPU 25% GPU 100%). I typically do this, and NEVER buy fully loaded versions. I like it but think I should have built it myself for way more headers on the mobo. The XPS has ZERO extra. Oh, also black case and no optical drive as I never use that. Altho I do think the white looks better.

      I only game on consoles, and all the software I use is multiplatform. I use it for crypto stuff, programming and browsing.
      I know the XPS 8950 specs are better, but the iMac would also offer an amazing experience.
      Could you give me some advice?

    I have a black one with the same specs as you except I have 2 TB drives. I originally had 128GB of Ram but when I realized it was clocked at 3600MHz I took out 2 sticks and the speed went up to 4400MHz. Do you know why this is? I went looking for the XMP setting in the BIOS but it is disabled. Do you know why this is also? The factory DDR5 Ram is capable of 4800MHz and that is what I would like to get. Your video is a very good presentation of this PC.

    • @zeroturn7091
      @zeroturn7091 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The motherboard determines your RAM speed. It’s possible that the BIOS is limited to that speed in A2/B2 only. The first thing that I would check are the timings in CPU-Z, then see if there is a setting to adjust those to match (normally in the BIOS, but not sure about the XPS lineup). Keep in mind that you might end up running loose timings the more you increase your frequency in prebuilts.

    • @macmusica
      @macmusica 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got this. Just read manual for RAM configs. It is limited by m/b so 4800 will be just 4400. Usingc4 sticks is less.

    • @dablazarus7303
      @dablazarus7303 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes depends on the graphics card you buy. If you get an rtx or amd card you should have more than 1 displayport. I believe only the dell uhd graphics will have limited ports. Just contact live chat and ask them they will be sure to 100% give you the right answer.

    Really nice video!
    Thinking also about purchasing it.
    But here in Germany are the Dell configuration options different. Means for example that you can not choose the RAM size (it´s fixed to only 32 GB) nor additional SSDs etc.
    So
    I9 12900K,
    32 GB RAM DDR5 4400 MHz,
    RTX 3080 10(!) not 12 GB RAM,
    1 TB-M.2-PCIe-NVMe-SSD,
    Watercool option
    Win 11 Pro
    costs: 2,859.67 EURO(!)
    Compared to your 4,000,- US-$(!) I can spent around 1,200 Euro/US-$ to add additional 32 GB RAM and a second 1 TB M.2 SSD (Samsung ...)
    ;-)

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. I think the configurations are different in different regions. It's a great PC and works well. It has made editing and compiling these videos so much faster and easier and it's also super quiet. Lemme know if you end up purchasing one for yourself and what you think. Excited for you!
