Based on my personal experience that is for about 3 weeks now, the UB-Xa is overall definitely great sounding analog, for price and what it is.
The original sound presets are not the greatest, maybe 20% are usable and 10% sounds great.
So to make this synth really shine, you have to really make your own custom patches to sound awesome.
As far as overall value, as far as retro analog synth.
So, this instrument can gives you pretty close sound of OB-Xa and beyond
That is only fraction what the real thing cost is!
Awesome sounds and playing! I love mine too. There are a few minor things I hope Behringer corrects in firmware updates, but I am blown away by what this synth is for the cost. I can finally live the dream of making/playing some of my favorite sounds I heard in 80s music growing up!
Nice! Screams 80s music.
This was the first bitimbral synth with preset memory (which the Prophet did have).
It was revolutionary at the time.
So now this iteration has 16 voices and poly aftertouch.
Better than vintage and very affordable.
No effects keeps the price down.
I really want one to pair with my Kronos.
It will force me to finally learn how to connect external synth to Kronos excellent effects.
And also finally control Kronos with polyphonic aftertouch. Its many synth engines respond to it. Kronos aftertouch is too hard for me, like Roland it requires too much effort.
Plus, metal body synth with wooden side panels will look good above my Kronos.
Plus, cheaper than Hydrasynth with same voice count.
I really want one.
Hallo,
I have the Sequential (Deve Smith) Prophet Rev-2, and Sequential OB-6 module.
So, just for synths comparison and so is Arturia 8, Prophet 5V/ OB-XAV, the Behringer UB-Xa in my opinion sounds great!
Mitch I have the UB-XA as well and I agree it can do many personalities. I been in the Synth game for 45 years have many synthesizers and have played most all of them. This UB-XA sound great and 16voices. Very few out here with 16 voices and I own them all. The UB-XA , Prologue16 , Moog One , Rev 2 16 my favorites.
Yes , I agree with you completely, the UB-Xa sounds great!
I also have also Manny new and vintage analog synths, including the Prophet Rev-2 ,Korg Prolog, Moog Sub37, OB-6, Juno X and more.
The Behringer UB-XA just sounds good, even when covered to those synths.
It’s the end of April 2024 as a comment. The synthesizer I may get before the month is out is the ASM Hydrasynth Explorer. If I figure out how to rake in some extra clams by this autumn, I can imagine myself finally getting this model.
Wow!! Thanks for showing me how great my DM12 really is. I see I haven't scratch the surface yet 😊. Hats off to you..
What's about Deep Mind 12?
The DM-12 sound nat exactly but jus similar o Juno 106
As a professional adult party clown i will say this: Where's my jupiter clone behringer? Oh yeah great playing.......synth sounds good..
Hi Mitch! Apart from the sounds from The Synth King, yours are the best sounds for the UB-Xa so far. It would be very generous, if you could share them in one form or another.👍
As for the sounds, I used in this demo mist of my own sounds.
But you are correct, LOL
I also pursued the patches from the Synth King, with I modify as a good starter, just before I program my own sounds from scratch.
As for now, I'm not selling any patches, but the ar plenty of people that are, Just like Synth King.
Congratulations ! Is it possible to buy your custom patches somewhere ?
Very Flash Gordon sound track esk.
Yes sir, I like the Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack, but this was't intended for the sound demo, LOL
As a professional sound designer I will say this: it’s not a bad sounding instrument. I’m shocked that they paid millions to copy the original but it still misses the mark in 3 key ways. 1. High End Clarity. 2. Separation 3.Growl. I would venture you that this actually sounds worse than the Arturia software emulations. Great playing though!
Yes, I agree ,The UB-Xa sounds good , however the synth have few flows or limitations, like no FX.
In my experience the UB-Xa with detail programming, can sounds great!
As for OBXa- V from Arturia 8, just for comparison can sound even wider sonically, but I don't know if is better for sure?
Of corse OBXa-V as software have more futures then even classic OB-Xa and UB-Xa.
😢 klingt dünn und leblos . Meilenweit vom Original entfernt 😢
Weil das kein Original sein sollte. Die Milchpianos sind fantastisch. Die Sounds sind für mich wirklich gut, außer dem,wo kriegt man 16 voices für 1000€?
Durch preamp klingt er noch analoger 😊
That synth is a tone monster. Definitely want one. It's about time analog was affordable. Hoping they make the JP-8 clone.
I remember when they first talked about this it was ment to be under a 1000 pounds but I think it about 1800.but still isn't bad .
A jp8 is out of the question because they couldn't reproduce the electronic that's why the original is so expensive, although you digitally Arturia do a vts that's great.
