- Hello all I managed to make it to Diamondhead Mississippi for the 2025 steam up put on by Richard Jacobs now. I haven't been back there since 2022. Now many of you may not know but, during the week of Diamondhead a historic winter storm so bizarre occurred that there was snow in Florida! I drove for two days trying to get into Mobile, Alabama and got stuck on a small federal route as did several commercial trucks as we were trying to get to i65 to get into Mobile Alabama. I eventually woke up the next day, drove south, and got into Spanish Fort from Pensacola FL through US90 and took I 10 in on Thursday as the section west from Spanish fort all the way through Mobile into Mississippi had reopened. I did forget to mention this which is important. The hotel where the event is every room was completely gutted and rebuilt in 2024. There was no mold or cock roaches. That was an issue until last year when the remodeling of the hotel was complete. I also thank God a semi truck didn't crash into me and that I got there safely. Hotel is great now, like new.

Thanks David I took it slow driving. It usually doesn't snow almost a foot in that part of the United States.

Great video Steven. Brave of you to face the weather. For the record, I never picked on you. That was Terry. Diamond Head looks awesome. I hope I can go someday. Great job on the video. Thanks for sharing. The steamboats are spectacular. That is something I plan to get into once I retire and have more time.

Next year there should be no historic winter storm. You can stay at the hotel and run all night if you wanted to. It's usually the third week of January. It's off i10 just forty miles east or so of Louisiana.

Awesome Steven! 😊 I wouldn’t make fun of you in the snow. If you are not used to snow it can be dangerous. Especially when most everyone around you are not either. I’m glad you arrived safe. I loved all the engines. Those new railcars of yours… wood?? I also appreciated seeing your steam boat. 😊
All in good fun thanks Terry. Show should be a lot bigger next year for Diamond head. It's a bit far from Ontario but Steam over Spencer is coming up the first full week of March this year and that's a lot closer for you. Both shows are good. Spencer you can run coal and the museum is great but the hours you can run are limited to 830am to 10pm where Diamond head you can run at any hour the event is on. I will do a separate video on the new to me railcars in the future thanks.

They can be a drive Terry. I think Mississippi is probably too far for you but Diamond head is still a great event. Steam over Spencer is still far but in North Carolina which is far closer. I know one friend named Larry that drives from Vermont to get there. I will get a video out on the railcars. I bought them on eBay from an estate sale in Alberta Canada. I have three extra passenger cars from the seller that need work. I will put them on video too.
