Arrogance
A teacher here, I really liked the debate. Yes the Education system is screwed and there are lot of inefficient teachers but there are lot of good ones too and we are underpaid and overworked. The system keeps changing everything to benefit students but hardly any training for the teachers. There is no motivation to do better so lot of teachers have become comfortable doing less and have become mechanical. Also, Educators in India are disrespected and least important, nobody takes this job seriously and that is the problem. We keep listening that we work for less number of hours but we do so much preparation for our classes. There is no work life balance and the management is mostly shitty and won't value you. I do this job because I love my class room time with my students. I love to interact with them and it gives me happiness to teach them, to make them question. I m trying to create a better future.
Absolutely! I resonate with this to the fullest. The profession is most misunderstood and teachers are underpaid for the amount of work that goes into it. The only thing that keeps us doing what we do is coz we love what we do. Barely any other sense of motivation to carry on.
Man i can feel u, almost ppl in this country was always selfish that's how the vicious cycle turns to be. We only think of our benefit, thats all, but we always forget that only bring more and more problem. Teachers paid less, student screwed more, then that student turn a teacher who even do worse (not always) but that's how it is 😭😕
India needs more teachers like you who can inspire children. Teachers play a huge role in a child's upbringing and their actions can literally change the direction of there life. Those children will always remember you. I thank you for the work that you are doing. 😊
yes teachers also go through a lot of shit and the system does nothing about it

Neville: Hi, i'm Neville, I went to an all boys boarding school
Finland's education system was actually considered the best for quite a few years and a few things that I personally like about it are:
1. Education is free. You don't have to pay fees in fact, it's illegal for any school to collect fees in any form from the parents. Due to the no-fee law there are hardly any private schools.
2. All children attend public schools, which are funded by the government through taxes. And because all parents want their children to get a good education, almost everybody pays taxes.
3. There is almost no homework given.
4. There are some qualifications set for being a teacher and if you want to become a teacher in Finland, it cannot be your plan-B.
5. Children are encouraged to spend most of their time outdoors.
6. Children are taught EVERYTHING. Besides the subjects that we have here in India, they also teach children cleaning, cooking, baking, farming, gardening, sports, music, dance, art, literature, etc.
7. Children are made to do volunteer work (such as helping in running the school canteen).
All in all, India needs to learn a LOT when it comes to education system.
India is 36th ig on that list
Problem is overpopulation and overcompetitiveness of examinations
tbh I dont think India is rich enough to fund everyone's education
I think we should shift to Finland
Feels like Neville is that teacher who genuinely wants his students to learn and understand stuffs but has got backbenchers like Sahil and Aadar XD

Clearly Neville googled the full form of IB himself and Sahil had no clue about it either. It was so shallow of them to say that Adar's question was dumb. Clearly, they ARE a product of Indian Schooling system which constantly makes you feel dumb asking questions.

14:43 @Sahil Shah when @theaadarguy said that he knew people who quit Maths in 9th grade, it actually is true - ICSE, for 9th grade, would allow you to choose Commercial Studies, instead of Maths, and there, you could choose to drop Matha altogether! It was there in 2011-2012 (was there previously as well); am unaware of current scenario, but that used to be the case!

Neville could not do the mischief in his school like Sahil did because it was boarding school and unlike Sahil he didn't have a home to go to once school ends for the day.
This co-ed vs all boys worked out very differently for me. I studied in a co-ed school lkg to 10th then in all boys school from 11th to 12th and again co-ed for 3 years of college and I still find it difficult to talk to people of the opposite gender.

i didnt know there was ICSE until few years ago. i thought CBSE is the highest form of education.
You need it all. Algebra, Pythagoras, derivatives depending on the career you choose.
But on majority, you needs STATISTICS. Problem is that stats is not taught in early days.
The small shopkeeper trying to see which product is selling out the most uses 'frequency distribution' without even realising it. But that's just extinct from basic primary education.
Anyone wanting to argue, I'm all game. And yes, I'm flexing that I'm the top 1% of this country because internet is sucker for validation.
