Jolie vidéo. Et merci à toutes les associations ferroviaires qui à travers la France restaurent et conservent le patrimoine du chemin de fer de notre pays. Et, j'invite chacun à faire une petite visite à la Cité du Train de Mulhouse.
Did i spot an exposed rotating vertical shaft in the engineer's cabin? (when you spoke about the clutch) ... Seems like the perfect place to get a trouser leg's cloth caught up in a spinning shaft and have some skin sheared off your shin!
Yes, it's an auxiliary shaft driving the Flaman speed indicator and recorder, the large box in front of the driver with a rotating crank on its left side
I was watching yesterday the movie "Le Corniaud" and I spotted the Picasso in one scene where de Funès is stopped at a railway crossing. Magnificent train!
enjoy the video, i enjoy travelling around europe on trains, on my 60 birthday, travelled to germany, switzerland, austria, back to france via praque, on eurostar from paris to london,
What a beautiful piece of engineering that train is. I love the sideways-facing seat in the cab, too! I could just imagine driving that all day and never getting bored of it.
Outstanding video. Very well maintained train!!! Beautiful scenery! Glad you saw the engine and Benjamin supervised operation of the rain. Thank you Thibault for posting this journey😀😀💚💚
Every french aged over 50 took this iconic train !! I did many times between La Ciotat (south of France) and Toulon- Hyères Les Palmiers (south of France) during the 70's i was a child .....
Loved it!. The red and cream or Blood and Cream as the same 1950’s British Rail carriages sported here, reminded me of the French manufactured model Hornby-Acho diesel multiple of the same period. Very nostalgic. 👍🏻🏴 A great video as always. Thank you.
Outstanding...a wonderful trip into the more peaceful past. Wonderful train, lots of local color. One of your best ever videos in my opinion and I have seen many of them.
Fantastic, my favourite railcar. I saw a static Picasso at the Vallee de L'Aa in 2017 (XBD 3853) and one at the Cite Du Train at Mulhouse. I so want to travel on one of these, and didn't know that the Vallee de L'Aa had one working. Next time in France I will try and get on board. Thanks for posting
That was brilliant. An iconic little train and running through idyllic scenery. On another topic; it would be wonderful if they could one day restore that boat lift.
Again a nice Video. The engineer of These cars could Just "feel" many of such necessary things Like vehicles, people, animals ... crossing when they arrived at the crossings ... - Just top save am second cockpit ....
I think it was a train like this I travelled on in about 1965 to get from Paris Gare du Nord to Le Touquet on the non-stop Silver Arrow rail-air service, which ran from Paris to London, with an air-hop across the Channel from Le Touquet to Gatwick.
Very well engineered train and awesome video. Would have been nice if you had videoed your brother actually changing gears. This train reminds me of our Class 205 thumper in the UK which came into service in 1957, it also had windows into the engine room but was Diesel-Electric, being a later design and Southern Region (it was basically an existing Southern Region 3rd rail electric train but with a Diesel Generator set added and 3rd rail current collection equipment removed). Being placed into service so early these trains worked amongst Steam locomotives which were very much still in use in the UK (the last steam-hauled service trains on the standard gauge mainline of the British Railways network ran in August 1968). You can see them here on TH-cam - if interested search `Class 205 thumper'. Also Northern Ireland had their own version - if interested search `Northern Ireland Railways 80 class'.
Interesting video and train. Strange layout with the engine where the driver would normally sit. Does the driver have signal sighting problems being perched up there, or visibility issues at the "long" end?
SNCF tested various "light" designs, essentially based on buses construction techniques, but was unhappy with that. They went for a "heavy" railcars, more akin to trains. It was more expensive, required bigger engines, but was more rugged in case of an accident and could haul dedicated passenger cars, or even standard passenger cars in case of need.. It could withstand higher shocks and did not have to be written off if shocked by another train or obstacle at moderate speed, unlike "light" railcars. It was also reparable. It was also designed for a longer lifetime of 30 years.
If this train design had launched 10 years later, it probably would have been nicknamed Cousteau, the bulge for the driver cabin reminds me even more of a scientific submarine than Picasso's paintings.
It warms my heart to see old trains saved from the scrap piles and kept in limited service!
this warms my heart as it reminds me of swedens dearest and old train that goes under the model name YP, i love them as they're so tiny and vintage :)
This is a real treat. What a great train set for it’s day. Good to see it still running as a tour train. Thank you.

This was amazing! What a gorgeous little workhorse train. Love the look

Fantastic; one of your best videos, what a privilege to see an iconic railcar preserved so well. Thank you!
Now, that's what I call a 'real train'. Let's re-open all the rural lines in France and populate them with Picasso's. Thanks for this super video.
Outstanding video. Very well maintained train!!! Beautiful scenery! Glad you saw the engine and Benjamin supervised operation of the rain.
Thank you Thibault for posting this journey😀😀💚💚
Simply Fantastic...Loved the whole video esp the view from the driver's cabin. That horn truly sounded like a bus/truck horn and not a train's.
In europe almost ALL the trains have that horn
Every country has one ore more "iconic" engine or railcar.
Very beatiful the shot into the driving cab and the engines.
Every french aged over 50 took this iconic train !! I did many times between La Ciotat (south of France) and Toulon- Hyères Les Palmiers (south of France) during the 70's i was a child .....
It's amazing that you can see the inside of V12. The vehicle is also nice. The difference from Japan is interesting.
what a funky little train! never seen it before, great video!
This is fantastic, I've only seen this in pictures and never before seen it in video! Thank you for this special treat.
What fun. Thanks for sharing this well care for beauty.
Old school choo choo.... Thanks for taking viewers back a few years. Pleasant French countryside, laid back vibe!
Wow, never seen such a video on the Picasso!!
Fantastic sound from that diesel engine. Beautifully restored.
What a great trip - I enjoyed that as much as some of your more exotic ones.
It's great to see videos of such special trains.

I liked this video so much.
Nice to see old trains.
What a delightful change from all these modern units from Bombardier, Siemens etc that all look the same wherever you are
Love those SNCF toilets, brings back memories of crossing France by rail in the 1960's.
What a simple, useful rail vehicle. So nostalgic. I half expected to see Mr. Hulot step off of it.
Outstanding...a wonderful trip into the more peaceful past. Wonderful train, lots of local color. One of your best ever videos in my opinion and I have seen many of them.

Awesome vehicle! And those gears visible @2:44! 🤩
I'm a tram and I approve this video!!!
What a great unique trip and unique train. The unique moment is When the train running long hood (cab driver on backside).
Fun! Thanks for taking us along.
Probably your best video!
Fascinating - many thanks for this. Unlikely, given Covid, that we'll ever make it back to Europe
That was brilliant. An iconic little train and running through idyllic scenery.

Charmant et nostalgique! I just need a bottle of Orangina and some Gauloises now and I'm transported!

Amazing video, a true ride back in time!
Wow, great vid! The French really did Midcentury design so well!
What an interesting little train! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
How beautiful ❤️Thanks for the ride 😎🚂
Thats a really unique experience to watch this Video, thanks for that ;)
Magnificent!
Thank you ..I love these little special excursions
You should ride the old "Arlecchino" train in Italy ( ETR 252). It's been completely restored and it's a real beauty.
Superb! Please go on with videos on vintage passenger trains!
Outstanding video, even for you and your already-high bar. Great look at a true workhorse.
This is fabulous video, I love this train, looks and sounds great, a good review fellas
Such a beautiful train. Great video!!!
Super cute! Thanks for sharing
Magnifique !!!

Such a beautifully restored railcar and so unusual compared to modern DMUs 👍

That is certainly a unique piece of equipment! Very cool!
What a cool little train . Truly unique 👌
Bom dia simply lindo trem 🚆 piqueno ótimo vídeo
Handsome little railcar, certainly sounds rather nice too.
Отличный ролик, заслуженный лайк
What a beautiful looking railcar, better than anywhere in britain
Add an AC and these would be a godsend for rural communities even today.
Génial
Well that dude had fun tooting the little French train horn lol
WOW!
Cute train!
If you narrated your awesome videos, we wouldn’t have to take our eyes off the marvelous scenery to read the text.

Super video friend 😍 👌 🇮🇳

Nice video
What a marble!
Amazing videoo
Very cool.
Great video. You continue to crack me up with your Franglais Thibault. What do you mean by "declivity"?
2:35 * and was also used for trains from Givet to Dinant(🇧🇪)😊
nice video ❤😘
Hi France of the cute 🤗
What camera did you shoot this video with? I like the smooth motion.
Now that’s one of most beautiful trains that I have never seen before. Was it built in France or was it built in Japan then transferred to France.
Valid question as Japan has been exporting rolling stock since the 1950s. But these units were built in France by a consortium led by Renault.
Nice
床上に機械室か、贅沢だな。
Why was this train taken out of service? lt looks perfect for its job!
cute train
So wonderfully French. Imagine travelling in France in the 60s before “mondialisation” ?!?
Essentially what the UK's Pacers should have been. And decades earlier, no less.
Well, yes but remember the Conservative government asked BR for a really cheap solution so that's what they got.
SNCF tested various "light" designs, essentially based on buses construction techniques, but was unhappy with that.

@@chefchaudard3580 Nice common sense approach.
How lovely! But how did the passengers get home from Arques? All the railtours I've done have been round trips.
The tour started in Arques early in the morning. I catch the train halfway in Noyelles :)
If this train design had launched 10 years later, it probably would have been nicknamed Cousteau, the bulge for the driver cabin reminds me even more of a scientific submarine than Picasso's paintings.
