Wait, character development on a super hero game after Marvel's Spider Man? And it's actually well writtin and acted? Being honest, some of these scenes made me cry. It's everything you want to see in a story that Bruce is gone.
To be fair, it's not like there haven't been many superhero games after Marvel's Spider-Man beside its own spin-off Miles Morales, Avengers and GOTG, two of these did have character development for its lead cast.

I'm so happy that this channel is getting videos again and BAV/Daniel is doing an amazing job as he always does, but man, I feel like the game falls flat in the worst way, right at the finish line. The premise of the story and gameplay is so compelling to me as a huge batman nerd - Batman dead, the misfits he's taken under his wing forced to shoulder his responsibility, and a combat/stealth system that would've literally been perfect if they just directly ripped off the Arkham Series one - but it just falls flat from what I've seen. "Evading" lacks the meaty satisfaction that countering did, and just grappling instead of hookshot/glider comboing or something along those lines feel super weird too. And that's not even getting into the technical glitches/bugs that I've heard plague most early gameplay/systems so far. And from a story perspective, there's so much promise - even in this video, Barbara not remembering her father's face, Dick trying to be a leader while learning the similarities and differences between himself and Bruce, Jason trying to come to terms with dying and coming back to life - but the dialogue just, I dunno, feels stilted and awkward, like it doesn't do justice to the characters who actually say them, if it makes any sense.
I think the general characterization of the core cast is good, but yeah, the dialogue feels like the writer’s a robot trying to simulate human interactions. There’s always that level of uncanny valley in there somewhere, and its funny once you start noticing it. The story itself had loads of potential, but the execution falls flat in a lot of places. Hell, despite enjoying it for reasons that allude me, the gameplay just feels like a weird knockoff of the Arkham Games/Insomniac’s Spider-Man’s gameplay. Its just weird like that.

Same. One of the reasons why I was excited when Gotham Knights was announced was to see Batman Arkham Videos make a big comeback again with walkthroughs, easter eggs and guides. Hopefully he'll get to covering the game's easter eggs as well because his Arkham City easter egg and references series is one of my favorite in TH-cam videos ever.
Another thing I love about this game is all the references to the justice league young justice and the outlaws and there thoughts about Batman being dead
Even if the gameplay isn't perfect. The character interaction and general experience is what makes it a great game in my book. And i haven't even played in 2 player yet although thats just me not looking for people to play with.
Barbara and Jason having a bonding moment is nice. You hardly ever get to see those two together. The more recent comics had them interacting in the "Three Jokers" storyline, though.
This game make me wonder if they can make a Teen Titan or Justice League game. Let see how Suicide Squad would be like and hope it didn't get worst treatment than Avenger game.

The emails are a great touch. I had to look up a couple of names, and I was impressed with how many references they put in. The world feels much bigger because of these emails. Titans, Justice League, Bludhaven characters introduced in the recent Nightwing comics, etc., all fantastic
Oh my gosh, so many feels in these scenes, especially with Barbara who had to go through this kind of loss twice. Loved the scene with Detective Montoya most.

I was skeptical of Gotham Knights storyline and characters when it was first revealed. For years, DC had been using Batman as a safety net for games. But I gotta say, they blew the story out of the water! Not only did they get us to care more for the Batfam, they managed to remove the safety net. From Dick’s insecurities, Barbra’s anger, Tim’s grieving, and Jason being…well, Jason, they managed to make a narrative where they all felt human, and made Batman the one thing he was lacking in a lot of stories. A caring father figure.
Jason starting to frown up and hug Alfred hit me right in the feels 😥. I also love his scenes with Babs, the interactions between the BatFam in this game is something else despite the negative reviews.
I’m just trying to figure out how old is Alfred. He’s been around Batman’s father before he was born he’s been around batman and now he’s with the Gotham crew. I’m guessing about 73 years of age
I'd say somewhere in the 70s as well, as this Batman appears to be in his 40s and it seems generally accepted that Alfred is 30 years older than Bruce in most continuities.
It’s scenes like this that makes Gotham knights worth playing despite what the haters think, because the interactions between each of the knights show how much they care for each other as a family and not just a team.
There will always be hater, but there will always be people like us, people that can see potential and actual good things despite the bad thing the game might have

I tried to enjoy it man but just doesn’t have the it factor I played for than hour and refunded constant frame drop when riding the bike, the UI is ass, the combat is whack
I like this game and can admit its average in a lot of areas. I really enjoy the character dynamics, slow mystery of uncovering the court of owls and the fact each character is their own character in terms of personality and moveset. But it drops the ball on a few things. I can accept the combat being different but it’s melee attacks and dodge feel sluggish. The traversal isn’t smooth and heroic traversal being locked behind the challenge is strange as well. Right now it’s a solid 6/10 for me but man I wish it was just overall better.

The way this game makes you feel what the characters are is one of its best aspects. The writing and acting allow the gamer to experience the joy, sorrow, and anger of all these people. It's such a different feeling from original Arkham games where Batman rarely let his emotions show.
This game can seriously show Rocksteady that they can make a sequel to the Arkham series if Gotham knights can, suicide squad really doesn't seem like a smart choice for Rocksteady when people want a sequel to Arkham Knight
It should’ve been vice versa. WB Montreal is the baby studio so they should’ve been given the Arkham verse to manage (since all the work is done for them pretty much) on their own with all the tools give it to them and rocksteady should’ve been requested to start from scratch. I know it seems unfair but again rocksteady is the big brother out of the two

I don't know what it is, but something feels so wrong about this game just looking at the videos. The ambience, the city, the graphics, something feels off, maybe because I lived so long under the shadow of Arkham Knight. Somehow it sounds like a fortnite game in arkham universe.
Isn't Bruce Wayne canonically Jewish? Because it would make sense, it's a tradition in Jewish religion to put a stone on a grave. Or it could simply be one of this tradition to mark that you paid a visit to someone's grave so other loved ones feel less alone when visiting as well because they can see the stone from someone who visited before them. I really don’t like this version of Dick Grayson, and it’s nothing on the actor but this is not the Dick Grayson that we’ve seen from the comics. Dick is supposed to be the leader, the successor, the light that even Batman could not be. But here… it seems like he some wimpy teenage boy straight out of a CW teen drama… Oh God. You tend to forget Gotham knights is based off in it's own gaming verse like the Arkham series my boi so of course the characters are gonna be a lil different and the storyline just like the Arkham verse Grayson is more of a lone wolf as they explained it in an article I read 2 months ago and to be honest in the comics Dick Grayson did had only one trouble with leadership sometimes he tends to shoulder a lot on his own and forgets about his team only in the comics when he was Robin and he first ran into Slade but this showed they stayed true to Dick's personality despite the story being a bit different and I'm a Dick Grayson fan and to be honest I don't really see nothing wrong with his design me being the fan I am of him since day 1 I can definitely see dick Grayson's model looking like that but that's just my opinion 💯🤷

Barbara mentions she knows everything about dick with no prompting, adding that he likes some cereal, he cried when she broke up with him, and he checks himself out in the mirror. This was unprompted, there was no cause and effect for this to happen, it was just there to exposit that dick has some quirks and he dated babs. That’s one example. It’s not the worst I’ve ever seen but it’s not quality.

This game can seriously show Rocksteady that they can make a sequel to the Arkham series if Gotham knights can, suicide squad really doesn't seem like a smart choice for Rocksteady when people want a sequel to Arkham Knight
It should’ve been vice versa. WB Montreal is the baby studio so they should’ve been given the Arkham verse to manage (since all the work is done for them pretty much) on their own with all the tools give it to them and rocksteady should’ve been requested to start from scratch. I know it seems unfair but again rocksteady is the big brother out of the two
@@TheShifter1001 but hopefully WB can give Rocksteady the green light to make a sequel because so many people don't want the Arkham franchise to end, it was the best selling Batman games out there and gotham knights proves that a sequel can be possible, WB would be stupid to let that possibility go to waste

There's no reference to Artemis and Bizzaro as far as I'm aware, so I'd assume that the 'Outlaws' in this universe are just Roy, Kori and Jason

Or it could simply be one of this tradition to mark that you paid a visit to someone's grave so other loved ones feel less alone when visiting as well because they can see the stone from someone who visited before them.

I knew from the trailers that this game wasn't going to be as good as the arkham games.
Shame how things ended with arkham knight which wasn't the best either.
You want good dialogue go outside and talk to people. Games aren't supposed to have good dialogues only good gameplay.

I really don’t like this version of Dick Grayson, and it’s nothing on the actor but this is not the Dick Grayson that we’ve seen from the comics. Dick is supposed to be the leader, the successor, the light that even Batman could not be. But here… it seems like he some wimpy teenage boy straight out of a CW teen drama… Oh God.
I’m just being honest but it’s almost as if WB Montreal doesn’t know how to exercise leadership, thus they don’t know how to reflect in in their game. So while this game is trying this hardest to be something unique it falls to a subpar level as there seems to be a lack of cohesion on every fundamental level

I agree that he doesn't seem like the leader he should be but that doesn't make him a bad leader
You tend to forget Gotham knights is based off in it's own gaming verse like the Arkham series my boi so of course the characters are gonna be a lil different and the storyline just like the Arkham verse Grayson is more of a lone wolf as they explained it in an article I read 2 months ago and to be honest in the comics Dick Grayson did had only one trouble with leadership sometimes he tends to shoulder a lot on his own and forgets about his team only in the comics when he was Robin and he first ran into Slade but this showed they stayed true to Dick's personality despite the story being a bit different and I'm a Dick Grayson fan and to be honest I don't really see nothing wrong with his design me being the fan I am of him since day 1 I can definitely see dick Grayson's model looking like that but that's just my opinion 💯🤷

@@sansan445if you really enjoy the writing I don’t want to debate it and ruin it for you, but I’ll give an example. Barbara mentions she knows everything about dick with no prompting, adding that he likes some cereal, he cried when she broke up with him, and he checks himself out in the mirror. This was unprompted, there was no cause and effect for this to happen, it was just there to exposit that dick has some quirks and he dated babs. That’s one example. It’s not the worst I’ve ever seen but it’s not quality.
