I love this cinema: the wall texture, those proper seats and that you didn’t cram it full of posters etc! A nice example of how less can be so much more. Personally I prefer this to the big $$$ slick ones you see on YT. Probably bc I’m older and this feels like cinema to me. Well done!
Thank you for your kind comments. There’s a new video with some subtle changes - new chairs. But yes, kept everything quite minimal. It’s a small room so didn’t want to overload it with stuff on the wall.
Really enjoyed watching, some very good design ideas. I have a standard UK garage so absolutely no good for a car. I am now thinking of doing something similar initially with LCD but the option to install 35 and or 16mm projector as I have access to both (if I can persuade him to let one of his collection go).
Thank you. Took a couple of months (mainly weekends) to get this built but literally consists of stud walls so that it can easily be taken down if we ever move. From the outside, it still looks like a garage. Good luck with your build when you get to do it :)
The dream of all cinematographic collectors!! Many compliments and greeting from a little italian collector (but of 16mm and super8 film). PS Sorry for my bad english leanguage...
I thought about hanging some sort of curtain up, but it was cheaper to do the tiles. The only thing is that the glue has started to loosen and so some fell off. Rectified that by using a staple gun!
I work at a single-screen indie cinema in Northern California and have started to draft a plan to convince our owners to add 35mm projection capability. I'd would be infinitely grateful if you'd be willing to correspond with me about how you were able to achieve this.
quick question: when you watch 35mm is it annoying since youre so close from the projector itself ? You must hear the flicking sound of the device... is is annoying or maybe it add to the experience ?
This is one reason why the projector sits in its own room, with a wall in-between which cuts out most of the noise. You can still hear it in the background but I think that this is all part of the experience :)
Digital is ok - the image is much sharper but sometimes I think it looks too flat or perfect. Film gives it a bit of life! If I had a choice, it will always be film.
Hi, it acts as sound dampening. If I kept it as just drywall then there would be an echo effect. The carpet tiles on the wall help reduce that. Most cinemas will have a similar material on the wall for this purpose.
Haha love your comment. So, instead of a platter system I’m using a long play tower which holds the film on large reels instead of holding it on a platter. Towers were quite common in the UK as projection rooms in older cinemas were often a bit small.
film is not dead. it's guys like us that keep it going. Great job.
Thank you 👍

I really miss the 35mm film days
Great job. I like the small details like the Exit sign, and the no smoking sign!
Thank you :)
Μπράβο!!! πολύ καλή δουλειά έχεις κάνει με το Home Cinema, very good job.
That is a great set up!
Thank you :)
I am pleased to see my drill featured in one shot

Completed my build this week, just a few touch ups to do. Thanks for the inspiration
Amazing!
This is amazing.

Thank you 😊
Hi, where can we get (buy) the SMPTE frame for testing?
Seen them on eBay a few times
Love the idea of carpet tiles on the wall!

Lucky people have 35 mm projectors and films
Great job.
Could you give me the size of your garage. I’m about to do the same as you but I have a fp30 and platter.
Cheers Aaron
Hey, thanks. So my garage is roughly 5m x 2.7m. I don’t have the space for a platter, so using a tower system.
Great job. Enjoy the show! 😊
Thank you :)

@@Reel35 У меня тоже есть кинопроектор «Century» Model SA - 35mm.. Хочу сделать также!!! (Russia)
That was great! I just started my TH-cam HT build just recently. Videos like yours are really inspirational :)
Thank you :) your videos are great too 👍
This is just amazing, how long take to build it
Thank you. It took about 4 months, off and on - during the first Covid lockdown and restrictions.

impressive !!!
Thank you 😊
From where did you bought this projector? please tell me
Awesome!
What is that light source you are using ? what is the power of that lamp ?
It’s a 35mm slide projector for a lamp :)
Самое главное что есть зелёная табличка " ВЫХОД" и "не курить".
What is your opinion on digital vs film projection?
Digital is ok - the image is much sharper but sometimes I think it looks too flat or perfect. Film gives it a bit of life! If I had a choice, it will always be film.
Why did you add carpet to walls for?

@@Reel35 sounds like great idea
Should there be carpet padding also on wall or just the carpet?
I rewatch this of you bulid room I noticed you have satellite speakers all around why don’t you just buy 5.1 surround system?
How do you get a whole movie at once, without platters? ♥️♥️♥️Where do you splice? ♥️♥️♥️ More important, can my wife and I come visit? 😂😂😂😂
Haha love your comment. So, instead of a platter system I’m using a long play tower which holds the film on large reels instead of holding it on a platter. Towers were quite common in the UK as projection rooms in older cinemas were often a bit small.
@@Reel35 thanks for that. :-) ❤❤🙂
Is it just me, or does this set up kind of look like the porno theater in the beginning of Taxi Driver? Lol
no way you have streaming on a filmreel 💀
