Kefan is a gentle, strong leader. Stolen for the illegal wild meat trade, Kefan was rescued by JGI's Tchimpounga sanctuary in the Republic of the Congo. On the Sanctuary island of Tchindzoulou, he lives as Alpha male - but that doesn’t mean he can’t make time for play and grooming with friends Bleck and Ouband! Kefan, despite having suffered, now leads the group with strength and kindness, with plenty of time to explore the lush forests of the islands in safety and happiness! Thankfully, powerful, compassionate Kefan was given a second chance at a happy life at JGI's Tchimpounga Sanctuary in Republic of the Congo.

What a horrendous waste of money and time....especially considering there is no secure and natural place for these animals to go once they are "rehabilitated". Disgusting, disgraceful and pathetic!
The chimps would disagree with you.
They have islands in which to safely live…I’m shocked by your response. These animals deserve a good life, which they receive at the sanctuary.
They will live there for the rest of their lives in the same kind of social groups they would have in the “wild” but safe from humans.
