All the character's death was already foreshadowed in Episode 2. Ali is eliminated because sang-woo took his marble the same as he took his boss money. Deok-su jumped on the bridge and was eliminated in the game by falling off the bridge. Sae-byeok die because she was stabbed on her neck same as she threatened someone with a knife on their throat. Sang-woo almost commit suicide in the bathtub and was eliminated from the game by killing himself. Also, the old man died from a brain tumor. Gi-hun swore on his mother's life, and his mother died in the end.😇

I was thinking, gi Hun please just move on and be with your family and live the good life. But I remembered every death every second he had went through in squid game, I would and I could NEVER live with myself if I was in gi Hun's shoes. I'd go back to avenge the people who had died there. Obsession with vengeance would be the death of me.

I wanted him to be with his kid, just for a day, but imagine how many died just on that day alone. Reminds me a lot of the genocides going on in our world right now that no one seems to care about enough to put an end to.
@@Marcus-zx8su Im surprised i cried as much as I did in the final episode, I don't cry at ALL. Not when people die in movies not when people die in real life, but the final made me bawl my eyes out. Lmao, I wonder how much crying i would see from my big sister. Shes always crying when people die in movies so if i cried a lot in the final episode then she would cry even more.

번역이 잘못 되었네요. 마지막에 난 말이 아니야. 사람이야 했을때 말을 horse 로 번역했네요. 여기서 말이 뜻하는 말은 장기, 체스 말처럼 도구로 사용되는 뜻인데.
@@잭팟-r4b 많은 나라들에서 체스 말을 우리와 같이 horse 룰 뜻하는 자국 용어로 말하더라고요. 그게 유럽으로 건너가서 영어론 보통 knight 인데 horse 를 탄 사람을 말하니까 오리지널 이름인 horse로 해도 잘 알아들을 만한 문화적 배경이 있는것 같아요.

@@cbs9876 이런 해석도 있더라고요. 1화에서 경마에서 6번이 마지막에 8번을 추월해서 이기는데, 이게 각각 456번인 주인공과, 218(?)번인 상우를 가르키는 거였고 사실 1화에 나온 경마에서 이미 승자 떡밥이 나왔던 거죠. 이런 연장선상에서는 경마장의 "말"로 해석해도 무리가 없는거 같네요 ㅎㅎ

Oh man it's over. I watched this entire season in one day and re-watching it with you helped me pick up on details I hadn't seen before.
I do have two shows I'd wanna recommend to you because I feel like you'd like them, those being 'Alice in Borderland' (jdrama)(you mentioned being recommended this before and I would be totally hooked on the reaction) and 'Sweet Home' (kdrama)

Did you know there were a lot of clues to the old man being the mastermind?
1) 001 - speaks for itself
2) When the cop was looking through the files, the page starts on contestant 002, so there is no file on himself
3) In Red Light Green Light, there are multiple times you can pause and see that the old man has no color on him when the robot is scanning him. There's no way he could die from that game even if he moved.
4) Him yelling "STOP THE GAME IM SCARED" was the queue to stop the battle royal going on in the sleeping area when everyone was killing each other. He also stayed on the top bunk that didn't move so he would be safe the entire time.
5) There was an empty water bottle next to him when he "peed his pants."
6) That fake city in episode 6 really was his hometown layout.
7) In the marble game, the reason the crazy lady lived without having a partner was because the old man planned to have that person survive (he assumed he wouldn't be picked to have a partner).
8) Gi-Hyun offered to trade his umbrella pattern for the old man's star pattern in the sugar cookie game (and the old man denied the umbrella).
9) In episode 2, he was probably going to multiple people by "coincidence" and convincing them to come back to the game of their own free will.

The episode's title, Lucky Day, is a short story written in colonial Korea in the 20th century. As a novel with the same status as America's 'The Great Gatsby', it is a must-read for middle and high school students so far, so it is a novel that all Koreans know. To summarize the plot, it is the story of the main character, Kim, who lives with his ill wife and makes money as a rickshaw driver. Then, one day, unlike usual, the number of customers does not stop and he earns a lot of money. So Kim decides to buy the meat soup that his sick wife wants to eat and go home early. But soon the long-distance passenger is caught and forced to return home late to earn more money. Uncertainty strikes Kim at the same time, who is happy with the sales, unlike usual. When he comes home from work, his wife is already dead, as Kim expected. In front of his dead wife, Mr. Kim cries out with the monologue line, "I bought you a meat soup you like, but why can't you eat it .. somehow, I was so lucky today", and the novel ends.
In this novel, Mr. Kim is mean Ki-hoon of the squid game, and his deceased wife is Ki-hoon's mother.

There is an interpretation that Ki hoon changed his hear red because the hear colour of the man who helped the homeless in the street was red.
The front man felt angry like Ki hoon when he won the game. And he came to meet the old man Il nam and did the same gamble. At that time , there was no one to help the homeless. Then he moved away from humanity.

Il-nam was behind it the whole time.
1) In the red light green light game, he knew the rhythm of the song and so he was the only one to move at the start. Also when the doll scanned everyone, il-nam and people near him would have a green outline but others would be entirely green. So the doll wound shoot il-nam or in danger him if people near him got shot.
2) In ‘Hell’ he was the last one to choose, 100:100 and he chose not to play, making the others go home, so he doesn’t feel bad when the people come back because it was their choice in the first place to come.
3) In the honey game, (the one where you have to cut out the shapes) I’m not sure about this but he probably had one that was semi-cut out already to make it easier for him.
4) In the tug of war game, he knew how to beat the opponents already
5) In the black out, when everyone was fighting in the dark, il-nam shouted “Stop” and when the front man heard it he turned the light back on.
6) Before Gganbu, they had to pick a pair, this was how il-nam was going to act like he died but the protagonist(can’t remember his name) picked him, making the women(can’t remember her name) the odd one, but she wasn’t killed. Everyone thought she was going to get killed but she didn’t, this is how il-nam tried to act like he died, by pulling off a gun shot and disappearing.
7) In gganbu game, when the protagonist walked away from il-nam, we didn’t see him die and when he walked to the exit, we didn’t see blood or the body.
8) He wanted to act like he died so that he was not at risk of the glass pane game, people could have pushed him off, or if he knew which was good and bad, he probably would have forgotten because of his brain tumor and that he was old.
9) He knew all the games and played them in the past.
10) When the detective/police officer(can’t remember his name) checked the logs of the game, the first page was Player 002 because the front man and himself already knew who Player 001 would be and all the info of him.

a list of foreshadowing regarding Oh Il Nam
1) in the first episode, it is clear that he doesn't belong amongst the other players. he is much older than them as the average age of most of the players is around 20-40 y/o
2) during Red Light, Green Light, you can see that when the doll scans for movement, Il Nam's outline is faded as well as the people closest to him. this is because the doll is programmed not to target him and there is a protective ring around him to protect him from collateral damage if people around him die
3) the fighting in the sleeping quarters immediately ends as soon as Il Nam tells the Front Man to end it. furthermore, he manages to climb up on top of multiple stacks of beds, which would be impossible for him to do without assistance
4) during Tug-of-War, it would be odd for him to choose that game because of his age, until you realize that he must have played it a lot and has winning strategies for his team to utilize
5) during the selection process of the Marble Game, he makes no effort to find a partner. this is because he is supposed to be the odd one out in this round and be "eliminated" before the next game, Glass Stepping Stones. because Glass Stepping Stones relies entirely on balance and sheer luck, it would've been extremely dangerous for him to play. it is also why the annoying woman didn't die after being the odd one out, she was not meant to be the odd one out
6) it feels odd for the game designers to somehow manage to perfectly recreate Il Nam's childhood neighbourhood until you consider the fact that he was most likely supposed to watch on the sidelines and reminisce about his childhood before he dies from his brain tumour
7) there is also a theory that Il Nam could be Gi-Hun's father. this boils down to how his number is 001 while Gi-Hun's is 456. Gi-Hun quite literally had to fight his way to the 001 spot before he could inherit his supposed father's money. also, by leaving his daughter to help take down the Squid Game, this could potentially parallel Il Nam leaving Gi-Hun as a little kid to start up the Squid Game. finally, when Gi-Hun asks for chocolate milk because of his lactose intolerance, Il Nam makes a very strange comment about knowing Gi-Hun got beat as a child. his reasoning? because he did the same thing to his own kid. feels very odd for him to make that connection/assumption unless it was a slip from Il Nam
Also Il nam potentially being Gi-hun’a father. He asks what date it is cause his son has birthday soon. 24(?) Or something, and when Gi-Hun enter his birthday as bank code it’s the same

Also, there's a lot of hidden details you missed. For example - Death foreshadowing.
Sae Byeok threatens the broker regarding her parents with a knife to the throat. That's how she dies.
Sang Woo was going to kill himself in the bath but failed and then eventually killed himself while being soaked to the bone by the rain.
Deok Su escaped death by jumping from a bridge, but in the end he was killed by a great fall.
Ali stole his bosses money (reasons aside) and then got his marbles stolen by Sang Woo.
Also, when Joon-ho was looking in the archives for info on his brother, he looked at the file of current players. There was no player 1 (first page was payer 2) because Il nam was in charge so there was no profile for him.
During the first game, the robot girl saw the players with a green or red aura, but Il nam didn't light up like the others. It was like the robot was programmed not to kill him.
There's literally tons of other details I've missed. But I loved watching your reactions. Keep it up!

Its kinda poetic to think that Sang Woo's mother takes care of the little brother of Sae-Byeok when Sang Woo is the one that killed Sae-Byeok. Its like the two people they were both playing game the most for are now part of each others lives without ever knowing what happened between their loved ones.

A very important point people seem to have missed was when he was called into the bank & they wanted to know what he was going to do with his money, they tried to talk to him about the "VIP Package", I would have liked to have heard more on that banking perk.

The sequel should be a prequel to season 1. Maybe a backstory on how the whole squid game started out. 🤔 Then how Inho got involved in this whole thing. Then maybe Gihun will join the games as a worker, wearing the pink suit and the black triangle mask and eventually move up in chain with a grand plan of destroying the whole Squid game gig forever off the face of the planet
The title in episode 9, one lucky day in korean is 운수좋은 날, it has the same title of a novel written by an author named 현진건 in 1924. The story of the novel is based on during the Japanese colonization, where the main character kim chum gee, was poor because is job which is picking people up with rickshaws (not the auto ones the one you have to walk while holding the handle since it was 1924.) but because there were trains getting built, he was losing customers. at at that time, his wife was sick and didn’t have enough food to stay healthy. One day, her wife’s illness became more worse. his wife told him that she wanted some stew. But of course he was too poor to buy her one. So he shouted out to her in anger and stormed out the house. That day, weirdly he got lots of customers. And he thought that he had a lucky day. By the end of the day, he earned enough money to drink with his friends and enough money to not worry about for a few days. After that, he remembered what his wife said, that she wanted to have stew, so he bought one for his loving wife and was excited to give her the stew. However, when he got home, his wife has already passed away. Kim chum gee burst into tears. While he sobbed, he whimpered: “ I got you stew But why can’t you eat it ! No wonder It was a lucky day….” I think squid game got the idea of the title from this novel, because this episode also includes the similar situation when sung gi hoon returned home, his mother who he promised to use all the money with had already passed away.
Hi Ricky, I watched your reaction for Squid game from 1 to the end. Your reaction was the best among all the others I watched last a few days. I would like to recommend one of THE Best Korean shows ever, "SIGNAL" (2016). Many reviewers pick this drama is one of the best one in 21st century in Korea. I am sure you would just love it.

The gun he won in grabber game is the same packaging for all the coffins in the game (black box, pink bow) Is that even relevant or am I just picking up on nothing? Why would they plant a gun in a grabber machine? Probably looking too much into it!
Well they incinerated the bodies afterwards, so maybe the gun lighter was just some sort of foreshadowing? I guess I didn't notice that the first time, so good catch.

Player’s number are related into horse gambling in episode 1, horse no.8 was at first, 6, and 7 was behind, but finally horse no.6(player 456, gihoon) get first and no.8(player 218, sangwoo) and no.6(player 067, saebyeok).
In my opinion, I think Ali's death was the most heartbreaking because they promised to be friends and Sangwoo just betrays him just like that
You can try watching another Korean dram Stranger. It's investigative prosecutor drama or maybe even better Kingdom another Netflix Kdrama which is basically Historical Walking Dead. It's just as exciting.

LOVED the reactions, I followed you all the way through. :D Also, I moved right on to Alice and Borderland after this one and am currently on episode 6. It's definitely not bad, very unique world and great acting they've got. But I probably shouldn't have watched it after Squid Games cuz it definitely doesn't hold up to that one for me, and I find myself losing interest in it, even though I'm 100% aware that isn't fair to the show. Lol
I watched Alice in Borderland when it came out (there is going to be a season 2) and I loved it!!! I never got bored. I would recommend you, IF you are, to stop comparing both TV shows. Many of the games are genius and brutal (I would say Alice in Borderland is more gore than Squid Game).
For me, before Squid Game, I saw a Japanese movie called "As The Gods Will" and MANY ppl were comparing Squid Game to that. I tried not to compare them cuz in my opinion you enjoy more a TV show when you are not looking for flaws or similarities. I ended up really liking Squid Game (I usually like k-dramas so it wasn't surprising) and at the end, I realized that both TV shows are so DISTINCT! The only part that can be really similar is the Red Light, Green Light game with the Daruma, traditional Japanese doll, It's literally the SAME.
I would recommend you to have a different perspective cuz like you said "I find myself losing interest in it, even though I'm 100% aware that isn't fair to the show" and I totally agree.
If you like these types of shows (gore, suspense, and survival) I would recommend you to watch "Sweet Home" it's very entertaining!

@@AshleyGossett Fun fact about Train to Busan. The actor (Gong Yoo) from the first episode of Squid Game (the slapping man lol), is the main character (the dad) from Train to Busan. He is a VERY popular actor not only known in Korea.

Now that we knew who the mastermind is. I have a theory that the reason the girl (I forgot her name but uuuhhh... Deok-So... you know..) was exempted in the marble game was actually for the Il-Nam just in case his brain tumor gets worse but since their boss was doing good, they gave the exempted place to her instead.
The old man is the creator of the game.

I read one of the comments about the ending. It said that episode.02 HELL tells many things about the ending of each character.
-Deoksu : He jumped off the bridge in episode 2. He was eliminated in the game by falling off the bridge.
-Ali took the money from his boss. He was eliminated when someone took the marbles from him.
-Saebyeok threatened someone with a knife on his throat. She was eliminated when someone stabbed her on her neck.
-Sangwoo tried to kill himself.
He was eliminated when he killed himself.
-Gihun swore on his mother's life. His mother died in the end.

In that tug of war game, only the old man didn't have a lock on his cuff.
So after watching an explanation video on YT, here are few points that do make sense to me regarding the character Il-nam.
You can kinda sense il-nam was acting a bit out of the ordinary on the first episode when they played red light, green light. When basically majority was getting shot, il-nam was smiling through the whole game because I believe he was so excited to play that game he was so familiar with.
Then remember there was a night when players were slaughtering each other? Il-nam stood up way up there and begged for this whole chaos to stop because as he said, he just wanted to have fun and sure enough the Front Man stopped the whole thing to ensure il-nam doesn't die/get harmed.
So why did he quit on episode 6? Well I think it's because the next game (glass bridge game) and the remaining games are too unpredictable, he could've died when they were playing the glass-bridge game or the period between episode 8 & 9.
And one last thing I would like to mention is that on episode 1, while he was counting how many players there are Gi Hun told him that the board up there says it all. If I recall correctly, il-nam said "I know" something like that.. I think he meant that he knew how many players there are not because because of the board but due to the fact that he's the host for the series of games that are bound to happen so he should have known beforehand, how many players there are.
Bro the middle part of the last episode had me tearing up when the mom said heard anything from sang-woo?

Congratulations on getting so many more views. I have no idea about new shows. When I watched Squid Game, there was only the explanation that this was it, no Series 2. Later, I see the plans have changed. I would like to see some backstory on when the Front Man was in the game. He implied that Gi Hun had an easy time, so I want to see the higher level of difficulty. I’m incredibly curious how you become a geometric man. Guns are very rare to see in Korea, so either those men all came from criminal enterprises, or they have to learn to shoot without hesitation. Maybe they were mercenaries for the US. I’m just kidding. No, I’m not. I want to see the Well Dressed Man interact with other people in the organization - basically a peak into the organization. A board meeting could be done in stunning set. I don’t know if those things would fit into one story, but I’d like it.
Did you notice the VIP room had painted naked people as footstools and cushions?
Did you notice that Ali played a Jesus-like Savior? He was 33 years old, saved a wretched man for no reason other than his goodness. He was sacrificed to save a sinner. He was betrayed by his friend. Incidentally, he cut out the eucharist shaped dalgona candy (communion wafer shaped). He was a good man, but he was killed to save a criminal. These can’t all be coincidental.

Man I enjoyed that last part of the fight, Sang-woo wanted his mother to be okay. He was probably weak to stand and there needed to be a winner to get the money so he trusted in Gi-hun. I love Gi-Hun's character so much as well, so tragic he went in depressed with no money and came out depressed with all the money but he tied all the loose ends he could. That ending is so hype

I'm glad I went on youtube and watch the series in here (yes, I had some concerns about the trigger warnings and I rather watch it with someone commenting that on full screen without knowing fully what I was getting into) because this was a good introduction to your channel and personality! You had very interesting ideas, comments and well, reactions. You didn't shy away from crying and that's a bonus for me as well as the final thoughts on each episode. Also, I saw that you have reactions to the Spanish shows on Netflix and since I'm from Spain now I'm very curious about those.
For recommendations: let's go with another korean netflix show! It's kinda similar but at the same time not at all. It's called Extracurricular and I think it's written in such a wonderful way that you really cannot predict a single thing. The main character was also on another popular kdrama calles Sky Castle (also on netflix) and that's another one that's well acclaimed worldwide and honestly, it's like Desperate Wives meets Gossip Girl meets Dexter.
