Thank you Lalantop for visiting our places and getting the ground report. There is a huge language barrier, wish there was an interpretor. We are very shy people, and thus the laughing and all.
The lady in pink is saying that she is scared that you have shown her face,and that she may loose her job. She is a temporary worker and not a permanent one. There is huge problem of water in hill area. She is saying if the water problem is sorted and she gets a pucca, good house to live in,she needs nothing else. In the background people are saying that they even have problem of toilet/bathroom, no proper toilet/bathroom etc.
The lady in cap was saying she is from the other tea garden, but that tea garden has been closed for a long time. She comes to this garden to work on piece rate basis.
They can read Hindi, because hindi and nepali use the same script (devnagari script).
Yes land ownership is a huge problem in tea garden. The workers are living there for generations and working there but do not own the home, the land they live in.
Thank you for visiting such places. Non of the mainstream media cover Darjeeling, even when there was agitation going on.

Excellent ground reporting by Lallantop . I work with people from Darjeeling and people from the hills and believe me they are real hard working people and always happy . I never realised that they have so much of problem and the place where they live for 100 years is not owned by them .
Nepali people are doing extremely well in Mumbai , Bangalore and other parts of India and my admiration for them has increased and I salute them for their smile and innocence. Love them from the core of my heart . 🙏🙏🙏
Many of them r living from 200 to 250 yrs also if not in same particular place. N some living from 5000 yrs( Limboo, lepcha tribes ) with own tribe name n language before becoming gorkhali language speaker. It's British policy which continued by govt of Bengal after merge with Bengal from 1956.

Gorkhali of Darjeeling rural areas is like this as most of them do not just depend on government as they have lose faith in Government of State and Centre. No one works for their upliftment. This should be Gorkhaland State in coming days for the betterment of the people 👍
