St Edwards Crown does not stay at Westminster Abbey - it is stored at the Tower of London, and was brought to Westminster Abbey by the Constable of the Tower. At the end of the coronation, it was returned to the Tower. There is not enough security at the Abbey, whilst there are members of the Coldstream Guards, as well as the Yeoman Warders on site 24 hours a day to protect the crown jewels as a whole.
Please note, Camilla was not left any jewellery by the Queen, her jewellery was left to Charles who then loans it out to family members. The UK inheritance tax is atrocious (approximately 40% of the value), except that the monarch does not need to pay it. Also, the Queen refused to leave any jewellery to Camilla, due to her having children from her first husband. The Queen was worried that any pieces she left to Camilla could pass outside the royal family, so therefore Charles owns the jewellery. Camilla is able to leave any pieces that she has been personally gifted to her decendents (and Charles has purchased her new pieces), but the pieces that were the personal property of his mother (including all of the pieces that had been left to the Queen Mother by Margaret Greville, and Queen Mary's collection).
