    Whats so cool these days is to see the influences are so diverse. I'm older than these guys and went to GIT in '86 and grew up playing guitar in the early 80's when it seemed that players who played a specific style kinda stayed in that genre. To hear that Oz and Josh listened to cacophony and shrapnel and other stuff outside their prospective genres is very refreshing. I was the same and others were too back then but it was never really spoken about. IDK, I'm rambling. I'm trying to make a point and its not really coming out right, lol. I think regardless of style players love great playing. Fusion, Jazz, Metal, Country, blues, etc. I love it all.

    This happens so much these days... so often I say I hate TH-cam and then every once in a while this happens: I have been playing and listening for years and had never heard Oz before today! Thanks Josh and Oz for doing this... going down the rabbit hole now... so exciting to find new great musicians and music.... awesome

    What a great surprise! Mr. Noy was not on my radar until now. I had a delightful little youTube adventure tonight listening to a bunch of his stuff. Such a variety of music and some really unique musical ideas. Such a pleasure already and I seem to have only scratched the surface of his material.

    Great stuff Josh. Love these interviews, think I've seen three so far and looking forward to more. Your ten questions are also well thought out.
    I'm happy for you to interview any guitar player but would be particularly interested in Bill Frisell, Julian Lage, Lari Basilio and Jeff Pevar. I could produce a list as long as your arm but I'll stick at four. Oz is a great player by the way as is your good self. Your enthusiasm for all things guitar is quite infectious.

    Great interview josh! Oz is killer. It was a tad unclear, but he was talking about the chick corea elektric band at the end there and yeah, that first record is a classic. Btw the Benson version of Take 5 oz references is on Bad Benson in case anyone’s interested. And, metheny’s “still life talking” is epic-the only song i skip on that record is the “hit” last train home. lol. the rest of that record is amazing. Love that youre doing the channel josh! Thnx covid!

      When Henderson left he was temporarily replaced by Jaime Glaser before Gambale was hired for the second record.

    Jack Pearson plays a squier strat 150(some) dollars with good tube amp, VVT .
    But that doesnt mean he picks any guitar, that guitar he said it is good sounding, sayin something like,
    i dont know why , what it is , but i only like these indonesian made squiers.

  • @seannolan2259
    @seannolan2259 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just don’t get the guitar v amp debate..you could have a top custom shop mega best guitar ever, but if the amp is shitty and can’t translate the nuances and dynamics of that instrument or has no clean headroom then it’s completely pointless..whereas most entry level guitars these days have decent pickups that a decent amp will make sound good..of course you need to then buy a set of Jeff Beck hands off eBay.

    • @JohnnyBargeldBoom
      @JohnnyBargeldBoom 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree. I can have the best tone ever, but if don't feel comfortable on a guitar, the best amp couldn't hide my bad playing. And at that point I don't want anyone hear the nuances, because my nuances suck! I need the right set-up on my guitar to sound good. I need to be comfortable on the guitar to play the right dynamics and nuances. But I willl say: If a cheap or trashy guitar is set-up right by my luthier, than the Amp is more important. But if I have a shitty set up guitar, no amp will rescue me.

    • @seannolan2259
      @seannolan2259 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Johnny Zombie & the Grindhouse Blues but the question is if you had to choose between the two!!..I know if I had to play a gig with a crapped out amp no-one would hear anything but a fuzzy blurry mess..but with a great amp and a not so great guitar at least you’ve got a chance and it’s down to you to dig in and adapt your touch or whatever.

    • @JohnnyBargeldBoom
      @JohnnyBargeldBoom 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seannolan2259 nowadays I mostly play clean, so if the amp has a clean channel, I'm good! ;)

      Johnny Zombie & the Grindhouse Blues i guess I’ve just had some horrible experiences.. especially at jam nights where the amp provided was underpowered and nasty compared with the main guy..(very treacherous)..and the worst thing you can do is start hitting the guitar harder because the sound just goes “splat!!”
