I was living in St. Louis In the year of nineteen fifty five my Mother didnt have no great mansion, Just a little old country dive. My Daddy worked all week long, Try to keep us six kids alive. So I thought I wrote a song you know a little tune that I could really claim and that going jumped up on the charts And rode me right on up to fame It netted over ten thousand dollars And added glory to my name you know I was standing at the airport With this guitar in my hand I had a first class ticket Destination movie land I'll be back in Hollywood, Mama Before the roosters crow again Can help, but I love it Stand here, and sing to you you know that's only legitimate thing I ever learnt to do until I come back here in Los Angeles bye bye, good luck to you
I was there for this. Irvine Ca 1985. Was taped for a tv special, the 30th Anniversary of Rock and Roll, or something like that. Chuck was pissed about something, only did a couple songs. I think Rock and Roll Music Ding-a-Ling, and then this, Bio. After he played this song, he walked off stage and left. Ronnie Wood tried putting the guitar back on his neck, but Chuck just pushed him away. I knew something was wrong when I saw him with this guitar. he either didnt get enough money, or something
@chuckfan1 Originally a DVD was released Called Bo Diddley's rock & Roll Allstars I bought it then later found this one Bo Diddley & Chuck Berry's Rock & Roll Allstars I never could figure why Chuck only did 3 songs & I thought he was going to punch Ronnie Wood when he was trying to put the guitar on him. I'll post that one tonight. I always thought that was a little strange.
I was at the show as well and remember Chuck all full of himself and mad as hell at the whole stage. He acted as childish as if he were afraid to play among all these musicians there to pay him tribute. My highpoint in the show was Ronnie Lane, Ron Wood, & Kenny Jones playing between the 2 sets....Small Faces
Diddley opened the show did about an hr. The back-up band then played for about an hour, all Chuck Berry songs, but no Chuck of course. So knowing how Chuck is, I knew something was up. When Chuck came out, he looked pissed. And as soon as I saw the guitar, I knew this wasnt going to turn out well. lol Either one of two things happened. Chuck wanted more money when he showed up, and didnt get it. Or the conditions wernt met. Amps, etc..... Jim Ladd who MC'd the show, blasted Chuck from the stage
Yep, I remember the amps were provided. Chuck didn't even bring his guitar, so he must have been miffed before he even arrived. I definitely remember Jim Ladd MC'd the show - what did he say about Chuck?
@JaviLopez981 The Strat is what made me post this I thought it was very unusual. I mostly have seen Chuck with a Gibson 335 or 355 one other time I saw him with a Strat was when he was at his Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1986
I was at this show. Wish I could have appreciated it more. All I really remember is laughing at My-ding-a-ling, and seeing Carl Wilson on stage

The Strat belonged to Ron Wood - Chuck did not bring a guitar to the gig.

@chuckfan1 I uploaded the video where Ronnie try's to put the guitar on Chuck
What's the name of this song?
