    Thanks to Draymond for doing this amazing interview with one of the greatest legends. I always loved how Charles Oakley carried himself on and off the court as a role model to other upcoming players. Charles Oakley was especially known for his sense of style and clothing. He actually set the example and is remembered for his choice of class and looking sharp in his suits.

    I remember when Charles Oakley punked Stephen Jackson while coaching him in the Big3 a couple of years ago.
    Stephen Jackson kept wining about not being in the game, after Charles Oakley had taken him out. So Stephen Jackson started to cross the line with Charles Oakley by saying he was just gonna' get up and go check himself back into the game.
    Upon hearing that bold statement, Charles Oakley let Stephen Jackson know that he would have to go through him to do that.
    So after assessing the situation a moment, Stephen Jackson wisely decided to keep his butt plastered to that bench, because he figured out that he was letting his big mouth write a check, that his behind wouldn't be able to cash.

    • @mobetta2092
      @mobetta2092 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re 💯 on point.
      Difference between the reputations of Rick Mahorn, Oakley, and Barkley is Rick Mahorn never walked around expecting to be recognized as being tough or brash….everyone just knew Mahorn was top dawg, including Barkley and Oakley.
      The link I attached is exactly what you speak of when Mahorn fouled MJ hard and Oakley ran up on him. Rick grabs Oakley shirt with one hand and with the other he’s about to punch Oakley. Oak raises his hand to surrender as Rick focuses on slamming Doug Collins across the scorer’s table and Oakley sneaks a weak sucker punch in while there’s a crowd and Bill Laimbeer sends him back to the Bulls bench.
      I respect Oakley but it happened.

    Here we go again! You scooped everyone in getting Big Oak. One thing everyone misses is that Oak is top 3 in long outlet and length of the court passes, of all-time. Wes Unseld gets all the credit but Kevin Love also had the 2 handed pass. Oak had the one-handed side armed sling. Lazer on the money every time! Lonzo Ball is knocking on that door. If you go by eras, Oak was the best of his.
    There is a notion that the Jordan Bulls didn't play anybody when they won their titles. I know where the argument came from and why. Once the Bad Boys won, teams replicated their physicality So on the Bulls second 3 peat, the Pacers, Knicks and Heat had devastating defenses. No team in the current league guards like the 96-98 Pacers, Heat or Knicks but they were scrubs according to some in the new generation. When Oak says ain't no waltzing to the basket, please believe him.
    I think many of the new generation of hoopers fail to understand the old generation and vice versa. I listen to Gilbert Arenas at times and he is very bright in many ways, until he talks about the old school , in which he turns into a fool. How much winning did Gilbert do? He breaks down scoring like no other but I never hear him talk about diving on a loose ball like Moody did last night. Go figure.
    Possibly the most disrespected player in NBA history was John Stockton. I was guilty of it myself until I really learned how to play No swagger. But like him or not, that was a Bad Man! He made many crucial, unrecognized winning plays in both the Olympics and NBA all star games, not to mention the playoffs. His assist totals are ridiculous. CP3 only needs about 5000 more to catch him. Stockton's steals totals are even crazier. But even crazier is that he had 16 seasons where he played all 82 games. He also shot over 51 percent for his career including 2 years where he shot over 44 percent from 3. Outside of his little shorts, unbelievable!! Check this. Not hatin. Just check it. Stockton has played 158 more career games than LeBron but has 359 less turnovers. Anyone saying Stockton is a nobody does not understand the game, period!
    Younger generation should try to learn. instead of writing off the grumpy old heads, absorb the juice. They have the experience and knowledge. There is so much game young guys can get from old guys it is difficult to fathom. Old guys know where all the bodies are buried and the story behind it.
    Now all that stuff about the league being soft is absolutely false. You have to play with the rules that are given. The rules helped increase the revenue. You want more hard fouls or more money? I always hear Shaq prioritize money over all the other stuff. I get it. There are young guys getting sick money as lower tier players just how it is. If I was a former player, I would consult for big paper. Benefit of being a former player. The young guys are also with all the smoke, but should they give up their paycheck to prove it? Lose a few hundred K so some old guys think I'm tough? I watch many games and don't see soft guys. The new generation has some damn ballers. I cringe every time I hear Barkley say someone can't play. The old could accept some change and the new could accept some wisdom....
    Who will maximize the best of the old and new school? Guys like Steph and Payton have an advantage in that area because they were raised by old school murderers but it can be developed in anyone.. The last two games the Warriors have started to look rough and rugged. GP is a gangster. His passing is terribly underrated. Steph played a masterpiece against Houston. Klay is massive in the clutch and is redefining the shooting guard, position, if that still exists, Lee is Key. Many sleep on him then get taxed. The monster in Wiggins is waking, JK is getting a little mean and a little crafty, Looney's layup package and rebounding is getting crazy, Poole is like a crossbreed of Steph and Klay while being one of the funniest guys in the league. Moody has great defensive footwork. Otto is the best shot blocker. JTA is a problem when under control offensively. Chiozza has a butter drive and kick game. Your boys are getting rather nasty! Belly shoots too deep and could start fouling hard like they do in Europe cause dudes are running layup lines over him. But he is a damn sly fox when he doesn't worry about points.
    One last thing. These guys always go on about Steph and Kyrie's handle. Kyrie is ridiculous, no doubt. Steph's handle was treacherous back in 2015. It is not the same since he started bulking up. Then there is a video of MY guy. TH-cam Georgetown vs North Carolina 89 Dave Edwards highlights. That man caused mayhem in the stands when he got started. Coach Thompson would have to reel him back in because he would turn the place out! RIP Mr. Edwards. But don't sleep on D'Angelo Russell, Ricky Rubio and Mike Conley Jr. They have some damn handles too. Can't wait til you get back Dray!! You have to be chomping at the bit!

    Green probably was sent by the "higher-ups" to Oak., to question him about his situation at MSG.. There's a lot of unclear double talk in the statement made about it. Was he referring to Oak., or the owners of MSG? 🤔 They already know, they was wrong for how they treated Oak..
