My favorite is at 5:47. He’s playing double time in a 7/4 time signature. The only references to 7/4 are with his kick drum. I’m a drummer and this is very difficult. Easy to understand, difficult to execute. Pure genius to come up with double time in 7/4.
Just the consistency alone of his snare hits are really amazing. I've done a fair amount of recording in my time and to consistently hit the snare drum not only at the right time (I'm talking milliseconds) but also the same spot on the snare to keep it tonally consistent is very difficult.
@@analogkid4557I honnestly don't get this comment. It's not because Jeff was awesome thah other drummers are not good. Neil Peart was a giant too. Having said that, well... stating that Dream Theater drummers are part of the same league than Jeff or Neil is really hazardous to say the least 😂
A force of nature he was.... ❤
❤
So musical...!

Art of drumming by the greatest and the only Mr "JEFF PORCARO".

4:32 has always been epic
Seeing the year of his birth in the video... he would have been 70 this year. Wow.... it's been so long since he passed 😔
I did a test with "Faceapp" 3 years ago....

6:55 Maybe my favorite, archetypal JP drum fill of all time.

A once-in-a-generation talent. That signature fill he does at 6:54 still blows me away.
Me too. Awesome fill 👍

yes not only consistency in itself, but hit it just so, so that you get the beautiful crack just right.
RIP Jeff
Big THANKS. This is fu..... amazing!!
I just saw Toto at the Bowl, Shannon Forrest did a great tribute to Jeff on this tune . Deep tracks
You are very Lucky to see Toto at the Bowl! I miss this concert because I arrive in L.A next Monday...😰
Randy, if you know some good concert next week..tell me
Besides being solid as a rock, don't forget Jeff could read a chart and play it in one pass.
That in my opinion is what makes him World class....
the human metronome that is Jeff Porcaro
Would love to hear the Montreaux live drum track!
W U N D E R B A R 😢😢😢😢😢
❤❤❤❤❤
I'm pretty sure Jeff Porcaro died before 2023. RIP, what a talent he was.
For me, not died!😉
How many time signatures can you do in a song? Jeff: Yes 😎
Apparently only 3 in a 7 minute song. Go listen to Rush or Dream Theater.
