Jon Culshaw is good, but it's wonderful how Sir Patrick actually out does him in this one, especially at the end in relation to Gallifrey's location being wrong.
Sir Patrick Moore. God bless you sir. That's the way to take these things, I remember watching him on Gamesmaster. The guy has a brilliant sense of humour.
This is pure gold. My stomach is hurting. The late great Sir Patrick was a wonderful sport. Culshaw himself is an Astronomy enthusiast, thus he had a great respect for Sir Patrick.
The passing of a brilliant humorous man,a sad day for us but look where he is now,a place he could only see but never reach...he's only gone and done it.....Cheers Patrick :-)
john culshaws tom baker is beyond perfect. ifi heard it on the radio. i could noway know if it is john culshaw or the real tom baker. impossible to tell apart.
And it's as if Sir Patrick (in my mind, he'll *always* be "merely" Patrick Moore). is "in character" Man or man (or man in the mars) he knows his Martian Geography. I'd love to fly around Olympic Mons, -- great great post, thanks. -r.
Ha! That's the way to do it! Good for Sir Pat. He was cool when it was cool to be HOT, which was shortly after it was hip to be hep, and a long time before it was good to be bad!
@Flybane I couldn't actually make that out, what did he say? It sounded like, "No no no, it's in Rupert." which I'm sure is either a random Hitchhiker's reference or my mistake :)
Not that I am anticapating this in anyway. But when Patrick Moore is dead. And BBC Four inevitably make a made for tv biopic about his life. Jon would be ideal to play Patrick.
The term Constellation is used a bit differently by space time travelling persons. This might have confused Sir Patrick. It doesn't help when the planet gets moved around so often.
You can really hear that Jon Culshaw is loving this call, knowing that Sir Patrick is outnerding him. What a class act :)
Is this REALLY job Culshaw? What a remarkable imitation of Baker. One of the funniest phone calls I've ever heard! Brilliant
I love how Patrick Moore doesn't get fazed and goes along with it.
Confirmed: Patrick Moore is a Time Lord.
Rest in peace, Patrick Moore.
The Doctor, quickly realising that Sir Patrick Moore was right about the location of Gallifrey, soon began to wonder if he was actually adopted.
Jon Culshaw is good, but it's wonderful how Sir Patrick actually out does him in this one, especially at the end in relation to Gallifrey's location being wrong.
That is absolute Gold! I can die a happy man listening to that, and the man never missed a beat.
Sir Patrick moore is said to have had a brilliant sense of humour R.I.P.
Sir Patrick Moore was on to him from the start... mind of a planet! :)
I will forever consider this to be Dr Who canon.
Sir Patrick was truely a Great Man!
He's also a guy with a great sense of humour.
Sir Patrick Moore. God bless you sir. That's the way to take these things, I remember watching him on Gamesmaster. The guy has a brilliant sense of humour.
does the doctor know patrick was really the master?
What makes me love this clip even more is Patrick Moore's recent appearance in Matt Smith's first episode

Sir Patrick Moore, the only man who knows more about Gallifrey than The Doctor! xD
absolutely brilliant!! Jon Culshaw sounds like he's laughing at Patrick's responses!!
Brilliant! He's a bloody good sport.
Jon Culshaw is an astronomer himself and a friend of Sir Patrick so he knew this would work. Nice one.
All.Time.Classic! Patrick Moore such a good sport.
After watching a bunch of these, I tried to prank-call a friend in this way, but I somehow ended up doing a Christopher Lee impression.
Even Time Lords can be wrong! Brilliant.
HEY HAVE THE DOCTOR 4 CALL CPT KIRK !!! ( Shatner ! ) 😃
He called the star trek appreciation society!

john culshaws tom baker is beyond perfect. ifi heard it on the radio. i could noway know if it is john culshaw or the real tom baker. impossible to tell apart.
i remember when sir patrick moore met a dalek on jim'll fix it
I thought this was actually Tom Baker, Jon Culshaw is very good.
...and sadly, he really is irreplacable. We have lost a unique icon.
and vice versa perhaps? Sir Patrick is a huge Dr Who fan
What a gem!
What a great double act, if only on the phone.
And it's as if Sir Patrick (in my mind, he'll *always* be "merely" Patrick Moore).
is "in character" Man or man (or man in the mars) he knows his Martian Geography. I'd love to fly around Olympic Mons, -- great great post, thanks. -r.
He corrects the Doctor, lol!
@Mackeson3 I know I just heard. RIP Patrick. He's gone to meet his mates Orvile, Wilber, Albert & Neil :)
Well done Patrick!
I hope one day the human race will actually find the planet Gallifrey
Hear, hear.
Ha! That's the way to do it! Good for Sir Pat.
He was cool when it was cool to be HOT, which was shortly after it was hip to be hep, and a long time before it was good to be bad!
Brilliant 😊
I wish I could do an impression of Tom like that.
@Flybane I couldn't actually make that out, what did he say? It sounded like, "No no no, it's in Rupert." which I'm sure is either a random Hitchhiker's reference or my mistake :)
Quite relevant now, I suppose.
God bless him.
November 30th 2021 Lol
Great sport!
@Bowenwww Isn't it a bit superfluous to write the 5 and then write five stars? Or did you mean 25 stars? That would be high praise indeed! ;-)
Not that I am anticapating this in anyway. But when Patrick Moore is dead. And BBC Four inevitably make a made for tv biopic about his life. Jon would be ideal to play Patrick.
Very kewl
Haha, now theres a man with a real sense of humour :)
February 9th 2021 Lol

@effyleven You know, he had a cameo on the first ep of the fifth season, with Matt Smith.
@CaptainChaos I think you meant to reply to HalooftheMuse - that was the comment below mine, easy mistake.
Patrick won easily.
Very Funny
Well he has the chance now sadly, as Sir Patrick has just died , (09/12/2012.)
