I'm Siren, and I sold my house to buy a 1976 Tayana 37 (CT37) Taiwanese build designed by Robert Perry. She boasts a teak deck, roomy quarters, and needs a lot of work, and the projects have begun! I'm traveling solo with my rescue pigeon, a small tender, an iffy outboard, and my rigging can not be sailed.
I'm a surfer, yacht broker, captain, diver, and Floridian who has already spent years working on sailboats and yachts, and I've traveled the Caribbean and beyond, living in countries around the globe, and now I'm here to do it over again on my bluewater boat. Join me as I get her ready!

How did you fare with the storm. We had a mountain of surge in Charlotte Harbor. Now just prepping for Milton, YAYAY. Keep it up girl.
Ohhh goodness you guys be safe!!!! I’m doing fine and the boat is safe
Would be cool to see youtube stars on Annapolis Boat show this week
Brilliant edit. Nice boat. Great attitude. Thank you.
Thank you kindly!
I hope you stay safe out there, it's too early to tell but unfortunately it looks like another potential storm trying to develop. Possibly taking a similar path as the one we just had .
Sending prayers for your safety.
Thank you! Watching it carefully.
May want to change the name of your boat to Sea Toad ..hope y'all get everything ship shape real soon.
Being towed with “Ride of the Valkyries” playing. Somebody has a sense of humor.
Your new crew stole Hal’s cigarettes! 😂 Glad you got a Sea Tow membership and hope you made it safe through Helene. No issues for me in Sarasota. Excited for your refit.
Glad to hear you did well!!!
Great story telling, enjoying you and your learning curves
@@terryblack8178 thank you Terry!
Hi how are you doing? Hope you're doing okay more storms are coming be safe can't wait to see your next video.
Thank you!! Got a lot going on in my personal life but should have a video out this weekend. The boat is safe for the storm. Thanks!!
I'm glad you're safe. Sorry to hear about your personal life that kind of stuff can be difficult. Have a good day ❤️
Good episode, great video. It's perfect accompaniment to the BTS photos and updates on Patreon. Fair winds, lass.😎☘
Thank you so much Nicolas! It was a hectic few weeks there! Surprised I was able to get a video out that quickly. See you over on Patreon!
Happy you made it. My nephew lost his house in south Tampa. Not only flooded, but caught fire and burned. So much devastation.
Ohhhh goodness I’m so sorry to hear that!!!! That’s terrible.
Oh wow so sorry
I just read that Helene absolutely destroyed Stienhatchee. You made the right call. We had substantial flooding from storm surge in Sarasota. Primarily on Siesta Key.
I’m sorry about the storm surge. Yep, I’m glad I chose to go west. Even if I destroyed the engine completely, which I don’t think I did, it would still have been the best call!
@@TheSirensLog I live on Bird Key not Siesta and we came through unscathed.
@@josefernandez6226oh good!!!
The giggles contained in this episode lighten the heart. They are deep and natural giggles ... the ones that curl the toes as they tingle the foot like a soft tickle ... the best. Ok, with that said, more engine issues, hmm, possible air/vac leak dropping fuel pressure or possible trash in the tank plugging the pick-up? Anyway, hopefully the issue was resolved and you made it to a safe destination. -- Jerry
@@JK-gn6qr thinking oil cooler. I’ve gotta get in there and assess. Just been getting out of the way of the hurricane! lol
Cool vibes to that episode, hope it all worked for you during Helene 🤞Fww I’m diggin’ the “logbook vibe”, your writing is great
Thanks so much, Robert! Much of the trip was too hectic to properly get video, so this is what I got. hahaha. I get some comments of people that don't dig it, but... it is what it is!
Can't wait for the next video from you.
Thanks Richard!!! Next Sunday morning I’ll be back on schedule.
I watch a ton of sailing channels and I’ve never seen a boat traverse into Tarpon Springs! So cool, grew up there. Live just north of it now. Man wish I knew you guys walked the sponge docks, would have bought you a beer! Lots of damage here from the hurricane. Glad you at least out ran it. Hope you are still safe. Gulf coast took a beating.
Hey Jen!! Yeah what an adorable little town. Reminded me of old Florida and Europe all at the same time. Hope you guys didn’t get too much damage.
@@TheSirensLog all is well where we are, just a few days w/o power, no flooding. Glad you guys are safe!
I'm thinking that SeaTow may not renew your membership if you keep using them so much. We'll see what happens next week. Keep the good stuff coming.
Helps to know that he local Sea Tow. Hal worked for them for years.
You never said what the engine issue was?? Geez so sorry you had to endure this ...glad you got back before the storm hit ...😟 Safe travels....
I’m still not entirely sure! Lots of mysteries. First the oil was going out the exhaust, which I didn’t want to announce because we were t positive it was happening, now the engine is full of water. 🫣
Blown head gasket @@TheSirensLog
It’s possible. I just don’t know when that would have happened. It would have had to be from not polishing the fuel before we left key west, even though we went all through the lines as soon as we found the fungus things.
Glad you and your boat are OK. It was wise to go west. If you can get west of the hurricane you almost get nothing. Last hurricane we went thru took all the water out of Tampa Bay. We lived right on the water in Tampa Bay. Wasn't so fortunate this time.
Ohhhh I'm sorry to hear that!!! Yeah, I couldn't stomach the thought of turning east to go to Steinhatchee. I had people on the phone advising and warning to to go Steinhatchee so I didnt blow up the engine. In my mind, so what if I did! I still have a boat! hahaha
I’m really interested in sailing with y’all and I know a thing or two about working on sailboats 🤠
Love your videos. Very entertaining and you have such a lovely manner 😀
Thank you so much. 😊
Becareful...💪👍
Okay young lady looks like you are going to weather another storm, so please be very careful and keep a sharp lookout for bad weather situations..
Yes sir! I did well in the last. I was able to get the boat moved in time to the west. Looks like I’ll be well out of the way this time.
Looking forward to a new video. I look every day.
Thanks! Sorry I missed this last Sunday. Usually they’re released on Sunday mornings but there’s a lot going on over here, and it just wasn’t possible to put out a video this week. Next week for sure.
Aw, I really wanted to see what happened! Loved the dolphins and the jellies were cool! Frantically packing here to make the drive tomorrow to Key West. I hope, and am guessing, you got clear of the worst of the hurricane.
I did!! Thank God!
You enjoy the trip to Key West! Say hello to the octopus for me!
@@TheSirensLog Will do and I hope to meet more octopuses. ; )
Very cinematic!
Thanks Andy! Very hectic filming.
Keep an eye on the weather forecast for the next one. It may veer westward and put us on the dirty side or be a direct hit here. I’m glad y’all decided to leave Carrabelle.
Thank God we turned west and didn’t go into Steinhatchee. 🫣 That would have been a bad move. Breaking down offshore again was a MUCH better experience than the alternative. Hahaha. Sea Tow hates us though, now, I’m sure. lol
Safely in PC, and watching. Gotta assess that oil cooler asap.
Grae video! Three reefs in the main and your reefed staysail may be a good rig to augment your motoring.
There was almost no wind out there all night. lol We were just bobbing around between two reefs and trying not to hit the light on either one. But you’re right!
@TheSirensLog I understand. We just spent 43 days sailing from Brazil to Curacao, becalmed off the Amazon Delta for 5 days. Light conditions requires patience. Keep up the good work. We see your potential.
@@rainfinger Bless you! Sounds like that was probably an amazing sail though!
beautiful cinematography! your videos keep getting better. may I ask what cameras you use? cheers☀️
Lately, mostly just my Nikon Zfc which is actually new and giving me trouble. The last few episodes have been hectic!! Sorry!!! lol
Hi hope you made out okay during the hurricane.
Managed to get west! Safe. Thank you!!!
I've been worried about you. Tarpon springs head 7 ft of storm surge that was 5 ft of water where my mom and dad's house used to be it burnt down last year during the hurricane that went through I'm glad you're okay
Ohhhhh No I hate to hear that!!! I’m sorry. Tarpon Springs is adorable. I truly hope it didn’t suffer too bad.
Carrabelle? Nearly home or what? Second long tow We will not ask about the costs, hopefully a split bill, joking 😅
Sea Tow membership! Free! Would have been over $4k each tow otherwise. Usually they’d cancel you after a couple of those but we’ve got a good relationship with Sea Tow here. Small Town stuff. lol
I would think it might be safer and cheaper to have a good mechanic look over the complete engine systems , from fuel to shaft seal because you use the engine all the time , is there any repair you can make so,you can use the sails ??
Yes, I have to replace all of the rigging and remove old chain plates and fabricate new ones and install them on the exterior. It’s a MASSIVE job and will take thousands of dollars and months of work, which is why I needed to get it home to do it. It’s now at the yard where that work will be done.
Good call gal!!!
Hell yeah!!! Thanks.
If it weren’t for bad luck you’d have no luck at all !
I actually had very good luck. I got out of the way of a major hurricane.
My 51 Morgan islander made hurricane Laura in Lake Charles 🙏
Nice!!! I love hearing success stories.
Did you get the sheets I sent you?
Hey! Which ones were they? It doesn’t tell me who buys what when they buy it, and if it arrived after I left KW, I’m having those packages sent up to Panama City. Thank you so so much though!!! I appreciate the supplies so much! There was a lot on my plate leading up to the trip and even through the last few weeks, my brain has been fried!! lol I’m going to run through all the gifts very soon in an upcoming video.
Gutsy AND lucky choice! Yikes!
Hope you made it through ok. Mine went down in the storm.
Ohhh noooo!!!! I'm so sorry to hear that! Where was the boat?
Dudedin.
Damn. I’m so sorry. 😢
How did you make out with Helene?
I got her outta the way in time! All good.
You either need to rebuild engine or replace ! How's your pigeon?
I do have options on replacing if necessary! It would be cheaper than rebuild I believe. I’m going to try to work on it though.
Garrison has been fantastic! However, as of yesterday we are having a new problem with constipation and I’m going to do everything I can to get him into a vet tomorrow, which hasn’t been easy this far but he’s gotta go! I’ll drive anywhere. We’ve come way too far to start over with a whole new problem.
Engagement ring?
“It’s complicated”

Only person I know of that I would love to be stuck at sea with ❤
Haha. I actually love that shit.
I still wanna marry Darren!!😅
Wow close one 😮❤stay safe😊
Thank God we went west!!!!
Has nothing to do with boats or storms but more about your "rescue"...is he/she, like, ok? I notice whenever I see it it's legs are splayed behind it as if it had some kind of Spinal issue/injury happening, or is it just "living it's best Life", and is an incredibly lazy Pigeon? It's obviously got a healthy appetite, just that whole "leg thing"...
lol Well he’s been doing great actually, but has neurological damage from whatever was wrong initially.
However, we’re currently having a situation as of last night. I’m going to take him to the vet tomorrow and pray they’ll see him first thing. He may be constipated but he’s not pooping and there’s a little blood. Monitoring closely and giving lots of love and trying to keep on the liquid supplement and ACV
You should have gone south hurricane is going were you guys are going
@@36offshore South?? It hit Key West harder than it hit where I took the boat. I made the right call. I went west.
Rrrrrrrrrr mate lesson learned, I'm not trying to be funny. But you guys are flirting with disaster. The West Coast doesn't have hurricanes. Añd your yacht won't get blown over on dry dock. Who orchestrated the background music. Captain Kidd or Captain Hook. It's time to rethink the box. A 12 ft. old aluminum fishing boat with a modern four-stroke engine, towed behind your yacht. Could have been used. In a tight situation like that one. To get you out of a pinch. You guys are literally flirting with disaster. Please be safe. I wish I could help.Say hi to Hal.😅
What do you mean by west coast? Of Florida? You might wanna turn on the news. If I’d gone into Steinhatchee I wouldn’t have a boat right now. That place just got wiped off the map.
Also not sure how I was flirting with disaster but getting as far away from the storm as possible. I got the boat to a place where it literally barely even saw storm surge. That’s a success in my book. Have you ever towed a 12’ aluminum fishing boat behind a sailboat in actual seas?? 😂🤣 That’s not an option. That’s a great way to swamp a boat.
@@TheSirensLog Ventura California is a nice quiet place out of the mainstream. And a straight shot to Hawaii. 👍
The west coast does in fact have hurricanes. Just because you have experienced otherwise at your specific location does not mean hurricanes are nonexistent on the west coast.
@@scott.the.sailor do your research in 1939 there was a tropical storm that had 50 Mph.wins that's about it. In San Diego.
Yes but I have a life here. I’m not just going to move somewhere that “doesn’t have hurricanes”. I’ve lived all over the world and everywhere has something.
Click bait title.
Literally days after I arrived Carabelle, a major hurricane hit the area. In the video, I almost turned into Steinhatchee to get the engine seen, and I would have lost the boat entirely if I had.
