I'm sitting here in my brand new onesie thanks to you. I had wanted some for years and, even though I've been sewing for over a decade, didn't know it was this easy to do. Yours was the first tutorial I saw that let me know it was possible.
I'm tall so I shied away from buying one knowing it wouldn't fit me comfortably. Now I've made three for this winter and it's helping with the cold here immensely.
Thank you again.
Huge thanks. I had never used a sewing machine but this tutorial was so easy and I was able to make a fault themed jumpsuit for my boyfriend the day fallout was released. It took 16 hours and I had a lot of mess ups, but it turned out alright for my first time. Again, thank you for making one of the easiest tutorials online on how to make a onesie. P.S I did end up using 2.5 yards for my boyfriend who is 6'0 ft and a little on the bigger side.
This has been one of the most straightforward and easy to follow videos I have seen. Thank you.
right! going to try and make one tmrw for halloween 😅 hand see though 🥶
I made one yesterday for a costume using this tutorial - it came out perfect!
So much easier and quicker than I thought something like that would take.
great tutorial!
I am a brand new sewer. I have only done practice stitching so far. I started a shopping bag thinking that would be super simple. I was wrong. On Black Friday I bought bunches of material including the one you did this onsie with. I'm so excited! At the rate I'm going I should be able to tackle a onsie sometime in January. 2016. Sigh. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent!
The way you say "crotch" so innocently, is adorable. Thank you for this! I'm trying to start making clothes, because it seems it would be cheaper to just buy fabric, and make everything.
You've done a great job love the printed fabric you chose for this idea I'm just a beginner and this is just a little bit too much for me as I just got my first sewing machine and I don't know how to use it. I'm really good with reinforcing seams whenever they come out. I want to switch from repairs to designing though.
I will come back when I am able to follow along!
I'm watching this tutorial & all I can think is CHRISTMAS GIFTS! Thank you!!
I've been seeing so many "owls" lately. I don't know why but the one on your onesie is so adorable. Back to the vid... This isn't hard to do. Must try. Thanks.
So adorable! You did a fantastic job!
thanks whitney! :D

Thank you! I'm making a costume for my son this October in 2024, it requires an outfit that looks like a onesie in all yellow
I found this video and wow, this looks so easy to make, I was stressing about having such little time to get his measurements and create the costume because last year I did a similar style but he only wore it one time
Stress reliever, thank you for sharing this 💚
I'm also jere in 2024 making a Halloween costume for my kid!
this would be too warm to make right now but will keep this in mind when winter comes along!
Me having to alter the pattern in order to make a Vanny onesie: *WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!*
I suck at this form of art and crafts!! but you did an amazing job with the demonstration! very easy to follow and your visuals were very helpful... I must try this!! Thanks
jaymitch123 aww thank you so much! ..aww don't say you suck, everyone can acquire this skill ;)
I made some but short sleeved and shorts. For summer. I also used colorful fleece for it.
Vanessa Rodriguez cool :D
I know I 'll somehow manage to mess up this easy looking diy .
Thanks for this ! :D
This is very useful. I'll sew the triforce onto my onesie.
This is just amazing! I was looking for christmas onesies but upon finding your video I'm going to attempt making my own ones :D
You are so cute! I am inspired to take a sewing class now so I can learn how to make things like this. Keep up the cuteness and the awesome crafts!
Stephanie Caroline Saucedo aww thank you :) i have a sewing series playlist on my channel, you can check it out before you take classes :) it'll help :)
great tutorial. How would you cut the front pieces differently in order to extend the zipper all the way down one leg. I have made many for granddaughter , but we are potty training now and a longer zipper would be nice. cant quite figure it out. dont want to waste fabric. I made my own pattern, but I am stuck. any suggestions?
You are incredible! :) I wish I had a great sewing machine. I would attempt to make everything you do. I watch your videos anyways because you are really inspiring person and I enjoy watching your beautiful creations! Keep it up :) I send you my love all the way from the Czech republic
Very awesome &thank you! I have a 2 yr old almost 3 and finding cute an not pink is a challenge. Lol usually end up buying boys stuff bcuz its cooler. Lol. Sides that, I'd love to make some for me also. Love ur fun colorful owls! My fav colors purple also. Haha I'm a beginner machine sewer but, I have confidence in myself. God bless you and keep up the great work!
My kid is going to love this idea:) Thanks for sharing:)
haha you have the same music as chef John's foodwishes! now I have two reasons to love this music!! :) thank you for your videos! you're extremely helpful!! x
i´m gonna start to make one tonight! But i will add a hood, a v-neck and thumbholes!
amazing thank you I was having hard times finding nice pyjamas for my little princess
Awesome tutorial, I had no idea where to start on my project but now I do, thanks! Any idea of approximately how many yards of Rayon I would need to make a hooded sleeveless version of this for a 6'2" person with broad shoulders?
Looks easy enough. But I'm sure I'll find a way to mess it up
mightybfool C thats when seam rippers come in handy! haha I'm always using that thing
You and me both
Thank you so much. I needed something like this for a costume (for a jumpsuit) but I have such an odd body shape that some patterns are either too long or too short one me. This is perfect!
Just got my first sewing machine. Looking forward to making me a Frozen onesie. :D Faved and subbed!
This is an awesome tutorial, thank you so much!
Yo hablo solo español,pero te entendí de maravilla!! Y es porque lo explicas muy bien corporalmente,!! Gracias!!
Brilliant tutorial! I shall be using this to help me make a lion costume!
you are so good. and i like your vedeos they are very easy and quick. keep making them.
Me encantó lo fácil y lindo que te quedo el pijama. lástima que no esta traducido al castellano. saludos👏👏👏
you explained everything spot on !!
Yay. Now I know how to make me some pjs. Thank you for this tutorial. You know how hard it is to find onesies like these for my size?
Question the way you sewed it was front and back with the same reference can you do left and right like if you trace the left side instead of making a front can that be just one side front back and same for right side and then sew them together ik that’s more sewing but does that also work and the measurements stay the same the reason I ask is I wanna make one half a different color
Can you do a tutorial for different pin cushions. I like to have one on a mason jar for a sewing kit. I would like to know how to make a mini one for separate projects. Maybe a wrist one? or different ideas? It would be nice to have 5 or 6 pin cushions to organize with my projects.
What is the benefit to cutting and sewing the arms separately? If you fabric is big enough, could you keep the sleeves on the original fabric? Or is there a reason that would not work?
+melaniew1977 Fabric usually comes in 44", 54", or 60" and that's not quite wide enough to cut out the sleeves with the bodice as well unless you are making something for a child.
I'm going to attempt this. Should I wash the material first or just make it a little larger for any shrinkage from the washing?
Sac Bbw916 yeah wash it first :D
Apart from a twisted leg it turned out pretty ok for a first project 💈
Thanks the tutorial is great! I should try it, but maybe not this month.
Do u know how to turn a button onsie into a zipper onsie? I got my bfs onsie but it keeps busting open with the buttons and its chilly 😢 I'd like a zip up but sense it is already button up not sure if that would work plz lmk if possible
I bought a footie onsie and by that I mean my nanny got them for me on her holidays 😂 I’m 12 and she found my size I’m so happy
What kind of fleece did you use blizzard or anti-pill?
thank you for making this tutorial so simple. I'm just about done I'm making one for my son then I'll be making myself one. oh what singer sewing machine are you using?
Im going to try making this for my kids thank you!
I was having a very hard 5ime finding onesies online so this helped me a lot :)
This is so cute, I can't wait to try and make one!
yay!! hopefully i can see it when you finish :D
This is so awesome! Been meaning to buy one like this but they don't sell this for adults anywhere! Now I really need to get me a sewing machine! One question: What if you want to include the feet?
Try to copy your favourite pair of socks, or better, make them a bit bigger, or you could just sew a pair of fuzzy socks to the ends of the legs :)
Thank you for your video! Could you do a video on how to DIY a class pajama? Thank you!
Your so amazing luv this tutorial I'm so doing this my aunt works with the sowing machine so I'll just use hers
Dear Amy, could you pls do a tutorial for pyjamas, drafting the pattern also, I m all so confused about the back n front parts.
you made that look very easy ! I hope to be able to make one for my daughter :D
Thanks for the tutorial! Never thought it would be so simple :)
You look very young...I was wondering...how old were you when you started to sew? My daughter has a creative mind and I think she would do great sewing.
Thanks again for the video!
Fabiola Avila thank you! :D i started sewing at 13 years old, i was self taught :)
Omg this is so adorable!! Gotta do it for the winter! :3 i watched 2 of your videos and i already Love you!
Diana Pammy aww thank you! :D
you're so talented^_^ Question: How do you position the camera when you film the sewing machine? Also, Do you make one first before you film the tutorial? Or just film as you make it the first time? Do you plan how you're gonna narrate it and say it in your head as you're demonstrating? Your vids are so clear and to the point :-)
thank you! great questions! :) 1. i always use a tripod and i just face it towards the sewing machine next to the table :) 2. a lot of my tutorials are me doing them for the first time :D 3. i just film it and when i edit the clips, i add voice overs last and i just say it following the video (i don't write them down before hand or anything) :)…thank you!
Love your videos! Great job!
you are so smart ^-^ never would have thought of that!!
Nice video. Any Advice on how to sew a hoodie on and what about buttons for the front instead of a zipper?
monquiturdle just trace a hood of a sweater :) and same way sewing the front expect sew buttons and button holes instead of the zipper, but a zipper is so much faster to sew on, and not that difficult ;)
Cool thank you! Sounds easy enough. I wasn't sure if I needed to plan for any additional fabric in the front for the buttons and seam. This is for a home made costume concept (Max from Where the Wild Things Are). Thanks for writing back :)
monquiturdle ooh that would be so cute :D
This is super cool im definitely gonna try this! Keep up the good work!
Will you make a onesie out of old pajamas
Great tutorial! So helpful
omg i love this DIY i have to get me some fabric i have to share this Thank You CraftyAmy ^_^

Hi I have same kind hooded onsie for my daughter. She is outgrown. Can someone tell me how to reuse it. Its so pretty I don’t want to throw it.
did u do this in a day it's so nice
Kwabena Yeboah yes :) thank you!
That looks really adorable thanks for the idea ^.^
Thank you, you just saved me 19$ (was going to buy a pattern for this)
Mokulen Chan yay!!
How did they come out?
Hey CRAFTYAMY - can you tell me why you make a separate cuff at the ankle for the stretch to go in rather than just folding the bottom of the leg over?
So it stays put and won't slide up to your upper legs when going in bed haha but you can do it either way :)
Ooops sorry maybe my question wasn't clear. I meant - why make the cuffs separately and then attach them to the legs? I know nothing about sewing and in a bit of an impulsive bet I said I'd make one for my Mother for Christmas - She said "You make it - I'll wear it!" and here I am with a week to go and I've almost started. I might have to give it to her in kit form - :)
+Nimbus3100 I made one where I made a cuff and one where I put elastic in the folded under part.
There is no difference in what you do really. It's the same outcome.
Eu fiz e deu super certo! Amei meu macacão
This was a great tortorial! I was wondering how you make hoods? I tried to make them but they ended up small and odd :l haha
Rachel Hohenstein على فكرة
Great tutorial!!!!!
Good idea! (It's soooo cute!😍)
thank you! :)
I also added footies to the pjs
Ok will try it out thank you so much
Wow! This is a great tutorial. It is starting to get cold and I specifically came on here to find out how to make a onsie for myself because I am tall and cannot fit those off the rack. :-) One question. Why is the bottom of the sweatshirt marked on the sweat pants below the waist? Thanks :-)
mdooms76 thank you! to show where it would lay on your body to determine to length
Ah, makes sense. Thank you! :-)
Im interested in making this, you said about adding a hood. How would I go on doing this? x
***** trace a hood from a hoodie.. fold it in half :) trace on fold fabric :)
thank you thats really helpful :) and thank you for getting back to me! x
Thank you for your wonderful video. I am trying to make a one piece pajama outfit in leopard for my Halloween Costume (because I am 7 months pregnant and not much else will work and keep me warm for walking around with my little ones.) Do you have any recommendations for making it to maternity size? I was thinking I would just make the front of the tummy longer, and putting a pleated line or stretch below the breast area. But any other information would be really helpful. Also, I am expecting but I am a small women anyways, so even a large fits most of the time if its long enough to cover the belly.
Tricia Ferguson yeah just add an elastic below the bust and make the belly wider :)
Finished it for Halloween and it was so warm and comfy thanks again for your video!
thats sooooo nicee i really have to try it 😊😍
+Farah Ahmed yay! :D thank you
+CRAFTYAMY ur welcome 😊😊😊😘😘😘😘😘💕💕💕💕💕💕

0:26 did this lady just show her force powers on video she gonna get taken out by the gov
Hi! These are my favorite type of pajamas. PajamaGram.com has a gray swearshirt looking one that I want soo badly but it is over $70. I've tried to follow your video, but it seems that I'm clearly not that crafty. What's a suggestion to help me so I can replicate this adorable look and fantastic video? Thanks!! Amy H. in NY.
i would say maybe practice sewing, look/study how jackets and sweats are made, plan it in your head how you would make it, you can also watch my video several times and pause a lot to understand it better :) i feel like that would help a lot :)
Hi to make the pattern can i also use pajama pants ?I realy like this video a'im gonna make a onsie thanks fo the great help .
This is so cute I am soooo gonna do this
Thank you for this tutorial it will definitely help me create a unitard I have been attempting to work on :-)
cool! :D
THIS IS AWESOME! I HAVE TO DO THIS!
Love it wish you would of did the feet too so I can make some gor my kids but this is great too thank you
cool! you can :D instead of adding the cuff and elastic, just trace the size of the feet on the fleece with a little extra feet room (so you'll have two pieces, top n bottom of the foot) and attach it to the bottom of the legs…hopefully that helps a little ;)
BTW it turned out great my kids love theirs and it costed me about 6$ each in fabric!!
Oooh such a good deal!
Soooo cuteeee loveeeuu !!!!!!
Muito boa aula,continue
I really love your Tutorials! Thank you for making them :)
