  • I tried out the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro and used it to cut a new Raspberry Pi case from 3mm plywood. The Laser Master 2 Pro is their latest upgrade to their popular Laser Master 2 and is available for purchase from the web store, Made The Best, for around $460 at the time of this review.

    1) Balance the fan blades and the noise level will drop. Just hold them in your hand to assess the vibration level and stick on the pieces of tape. Then drill a hole on the opposite side.
    2) You can cut plywood more efficiently if you bring a flow of air through the needle from the syringe to the cutting zone from the compressor.

    It's adorable. If you moved one of the intake fans to the back for exhaust. It should be quieter.

      You wouldn't be able to use a bottom mounted hat as the port positions are fixed but you could use a top mounted one or a bottom one and just mount it over to the side or on top.

    • @MichaelKlements
      @MichaelKlements  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can cut black or dark coloured opaque acrylics with a diode laser - I'm not aware of any diode lasers that can cut clear acrylic.

    Beautiful. I bought your single fan case one model from etsy and made that version for my pi 4. I might give this one a go too. Can you please let me know if running more than a fan will create any problem to my pi or not? Or is there a way I can control the fans, like I might want to run one always and other I want to keep turned off until it goes to a certain temperature?

    • @MichaelKlements
      @MichaelKlements  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can run multiple fans on a Pi without any issues, I've also recently put together a PWM control script to control the fan's speed depending on the CPU temperature - th-cam.com/video/N5h6Y7KGLDc/w-d-xo.html

I've got a ras pi 8gb w a 240GB ssd for storage and I printed the model with the OLED on the front. Not only is it a great desktop workstation (running Ras Pi OS 64GB) but it looks awesome as well and it's my best 3d print too date. Anyhow, great designs. Looking foward too what's next.

    Hey Michael, this build is fantastic and I currently have parts on the way to do my own. I'm planning on wiring in a switch on the front top (slanted area) so I can turn the fans on and off depending on if I am using it heavily or just having it sit there running torrents etc.
    Can I ask how you've found the cooling/temps with the SSD so far? I've heard NVMEs can run hot and noticed you don't have the heat sink on that comes with the enclosure in the link. I'm hoping to install mine with heat sink attached.
    I've also got a slightly different extension board on the way which routes the power to the back panel too :)
    Cheers!

    • @MichaelKlements
      @MichaelKlements  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mitch, that's great! That's a good idea, they're probably not necessary most of the time. I haven't tested this, but it might be an idea to put some sort of potentiometer arrangement or voltage adjustment onto the fans. That way they'll be much quieter at low voltage and you could ramp them up when needed.
      I haven't noticed much heat coming off mine, but I'm also not actively transferring large files to and from the drive regularly. I guess it depends on your use case. Adding some heat sinks to it can't hurt, so if you've got them then definitely try them out.
