I interpret Iori’s super as Orochi forcing him to use it on others, which is why his voice distorts. The reason why his voice doesn’t distort when doing it to Team Orochi is because Iori is willingly using it on them.
More like iori syphonning deeply into orochi powers on normal. While on team orochi he cant syphon it that well since they outclass him in the orochi hierarchy.

For example, for fans of anime fighters and higher/less committal air mobility games, DNF Duel and Undernight 2 will look and play leagues better than this game. as for who you were responding to, he was referring to the attention to visual detail being expected or average, not the gameplay itself.
It feels like modern FGs are starting to to bring back flavor stuff like this and I ADORE IT. It's like the devs are having as much fun designing/animating as we are playing.
I think after 2015ish, most fighting game devs lost their touch (besides arcsys) so it's good to see games like this. Arcsys and SNK are clearly popping off, and I only hope that Capcom and Netherealm pop off with their next games. It's a great time to be a fighting game fan.

It's interesting how Kyo's voice distorts Maybe it's a reference to KOF: Kyo, when Souji Kusanagi (Kyo's cousin) warns that even people of Kusanagi bloodline can be tempted by Orochi and turn into fightlusted demons
It also refer to God dust x2 when Kusanagi used to restored the power but kyo we have or we say original kyo modified the god dust into his own harmless move.
You should really go back and play the old KoF's. Sucks, they were all free on Game Pass a few months back. Missed playing my boi, Saisyu. You can get them on an emulator tho, still really fun if your computer can run it.
Fun Fact: Despite outward appearances Iori does NOT want to kill Kyo Iori "hates" Kyo the way Grimmjow "hates" Ichigo. They give them a suitable rival and a reason to go wild with their abilities. They won't admit it outright, but they lowkey respect their so-called bitter enemy. I remember Athena read Iori's mind once and asked herself that Iori would be lost without Kyo to focus on because he had such a craptastic childhood and the rivalry between them is the closest thing he has to a bond with anyone. In my opinion *THIS* is why Iori refuses to cure himself of the curse in the previous game Despite the fact that he is just as strong without it. While he could still fight, he would lose his blood bond to Kyo. Iori needs Kyo to stay sane. Or at least sane by KOF standards
My favorite detail is that Kyo tends to call Iori "Yagami," while Iori calls Kyo by his first name. Not only is this usually a sign of disrespect towards an acquaintance in Japan, but it's basically Iori saying "I'm not fighting you because of our family rivalry. I'm fighting you because I just can't fucking stand you as a person."
If you read Shingo's isekai manga, he did something here in such a way Iori DOESN'T want to kill Kyo anymore. He just wants to kick his ass because he can. Shingo revealed to their ancestors that the Hakkesshu were up to no good and were going to frame each other.
When Iori is fighting an Orochi boi (though we need to see if it's the same against Leona whenever the game releases or another beta) he's in control but when he's not Orochi is in control.
Against other characters, Kyo's climax uses completely new lines. But against the (Awakened) Orochi Team, he uses his classic lines JUST FOR THE SAKE OF NOSTALGIA.
So when Kyo uses “Ura 1212 Shiki: Yakumo” against an “Orochi” character, the phrases switch to “Miseteyaru, Kusanagi no kobushi wo!” like his old Super, “Saishuu Kessen Ougi: Mu Shiki.” I really like that.
Missed Chizuru. Hers is different too when fighting a Heavenly King. She gets an echo behind her voice during her climax, as if coordinating with Maki (some say) to seal their power of Orochi.
Basically means that _go back and play 97 for context, 98um also applicable since there’s an alternative route that’s a summary of the plot of 97 and 96_

That's why in kof 11 he went full berzerk and attacked both kyo and shingo due to the immense presence of orochi's energy. This is further supported in kof 13 where mature and vice warned iori that if he were to retrieve his jewel he would be cursed once again with orochi.

Honestly, it would have been better if they had made his flames go from purple to orange, would have been great attention to detail. Also I literally don't see anything different on Kyo's climax super, it looks the same to me.
If his flames had changed colour then that would have had serious lore implications because it would imply that Iori had gained the ability to overcome the corruption of his sacred treasure when need be. Which could lead to an arc where he tries to overcome the curse his family has that will lead to him dying young.

If you have a playstation, there's a free beta in a few days. Either way, it's definitely the most fun I've had with a kof game, not that I'm an expert or anything. I've played 98, 2002um, , 13, and 14. To me, this feels like a combination of 13 and 14. The game plays like 14, but allows for more combos like 13. Out of the 8 characters in the last beta, I really enjoyed about 6 of them. To me, that means alot because in most fighting games I usually enjoy 3-4 characters. If the beta is any indication of the full game, then I'd definitely recommend it.

Weird. For some reason, the android youtube app cannot visualize this video at all. The only resolution options are all HDR and all that gets played is audio and a completely green static screen.

Pay closer attention. Against Shun'ei, Iori's eye turns dark red, but against Yashiro, his eye doesn't change.

So conflicted on whether I want this game...
If you have a playstation, there's a free beta in a few days. Either way, it's definitely the most fun I've had with a kof game, not that I'm an expert or anything. I've played 98, 2002um, , 13, and 14. To me, this feels like a combination of 13 and 14. The game plays like 14, but allows for more combos like 13. Out of the 8 characters in the last beta, I really enjoyed about 6 of them. To me, that means alot because in most fighting games I usually enjoy 3-4 characters. If the beta is any indication of the full game, then I'd definitely recommend it.
