As a father that works full time, games like this just hit the perfect spot of what little time I have to game. The older I get the more I appreciate an experience on rails with an amazing story.

Hear, hear! I see all these 50-100 hr epics and yea that sounds cool but they're in one ear and out the other with me. Used to try and force myself to try em cuz of the hype but had to be honest with myself and it changed what I play and I'm enjoying gaming more now.
The more bite-size experiences I'm down for. Puzzle and adventure games are my jam. Long-winded, sorry lol

Same with me. I think I've always loved linear games most though. I'm more quality than quantity. It's just now adays I can't figure how I ever had the time to play linear games and also put 100s of hours into cod.

Quite possibly the best story of this type in a game since the original The Last of Us for me
Amecia and Hugo have the best older/younger sibling dynamic I’ve ever seen in probably any media so far
This has to be one of my most anticipated games of the year.
As soon as the first finished; I was anticipating a sequel.

So I love that you have been waiting for this game... but at the same time, I am saddened that this is a most anticipated game (that's no trolling - but just that we shouldn't be expecting this sequal above other games at this point (just my opinion). I'm sure that there's a lot of fans from the first game that are really aching for the follow-on... and that's great. I know that might sound sarcastic, but I really mean that it says something about gaming that we haven't had new experiences for too long (or at least too consistently).
Actually it's God of War but nevertheless I'm playing this game and so far I love it. Part 1 was actually a surprise hit so I knew this one would be better.

Excluding Indi's, the industry as a whole is really staving gamers of new experiences, with new releases filled with sequel's and remakes

Highly recommend doing a playthrough in French with subtitles on. Really gets you into it
I remember ACG's review of Innocence is what sold me on the first game. How time has flown by. Requiem looks great and I can't wait to play it.
The Intro little tutorial and then instant mood change is superb and the pacing overall is so wonderfully varied it weaves intense action into stealth so well. Also the camera and animation transitions when climbing and the like are so good
Asobo Studio crafted the biggest surprise of 2019 when they released A Plague Tale Innocence. Amicia and Hugo's story and their struggle for survival was impactful and memorable. The game was and still is gorgeous even now. The setting and atmosphere were intriguing and interesting. Though, combat was very limited and it resulted in a lot of trial and error as a result. A Plague Tale Requiem looks to build upon the solid foundation that was already established by its predecessor. Thankfully, Amicia's arsenal has been expanded upon in terms of combat. I'm sure that the game will be just as emotional and memorable as A Plague Tale Innocence. Once again, Charlotte McBurney (Amicia) and Logan Hannan (Hugo) do an amazing job of bringing their respective characters to life and they do so in such a natural and believable way. Their story is the heart and soul of A Plague Tale Requiem. The game may be a AA title, but it has the high production quality of a AAA blockbuster. Asobo Studio obviously put a lot of passion and hard work into it, which is evident in the final product. I can't wait to experience it on the PS5. I'll be picking up my per-order tomorrow. Just finished this game on the series x and the story was amazing. It def hit me in the feels hard. One of the best stories I’ve played, the gameplay/ stealth is eh but the story is gold. I didn’t have any issues with 30fps on the series x, I honestly didn’t notice because I was so into the story. It’s a shame most people won’t get to experience this story.
some areas it was very rough, but fine enough to play and enjoy for the most part and yes the story just makes it worth it and you forget about the rest. I'm only like half-way through
game got 60 fps update :)
Pre-ordered on PS5 ages ago, I'm so excited to play Requiem in a few hours and experience Amicia and Hugo's next journey

If we're talking about audio, there is ONE part I need to highlight.
At the very start, when you leave to fetch the alchemist. And durind the whole walk, there is a single string played, over and over.
That single note made me more anxious that many entire horror games OSTs.
Just finished won’t spoil anything but this storyline was absolutely incredible 10/10 insane story just WOW
My GOTY. What an amazing experience. I think Amecia may be my favorite female protagonist in video gaming after this.

The environment is what captured my attention for the first game and they have hit the mark yet again with this new countryside. I also enjoy a good stealth experience too.

that island, lucara something is just next level, I kept thinking I want to live here. all the praise for the work that went into that, makes me curious what the inspiration for it was

Agree with everything you are saying here. I would have liked maybe a chapter or two cut down due to the repetition of story beats being retold through painfully slow walking scenes, but ultimately this game gets a 9/10 from me.
Finished the first game recently, really excited to see where Amicia & Hugo’s story goes from here

A Plague Tale: Innocence was my personal GOTY from a couple of years ago. The stealth gameplay was simple, but the presentation was amazing. I can't wait to give the sequel a blast.

I think it’s even better. An absolutely amazing performance by the young lady, nailing every state of emotion perfectly. Also her whisper is just ASMR porn.
Still I'd recommend playing it with French voiceover. Much more immersive considering the setting (and voices also qualitatively better)

I also recommend the french voice actors. They were the original recording and man they aare good! Its very emotional
Last year I played the original because I really needed a break for the intense pvp games and open world 2nd job games. It scratched that itch perfectly. Im now in the same situation again and I need Amicia and Hugo to give me some respite from the open world slogs im working on.
Loved the first one.
Really stood out as one of the few new games doing something unique and incorporating a solid story.

I played the first one on a whim just to kill some time and fell in love with it. Having high hopes for this one since it was announced. I loved the atmosphere, the world, the rats, and everything else that brought the game together. I can’t wait for more this weekend! Thanks ACG!
The game had some intense sequences and emotional moments at times, especially the ending but I felt at least to me that the narrative drags out for too long and it can become repetitive( with too many running sequences) in the middle of the campaign. Every single character its given a back story and all have chemistry with each other.
Graphics wise the game looks stunning, especially when The Runes reach the Island, the waves and the sand on the shore look so realistic and beautiful to look at when the sunset hits the horizon(chef kiss). This time around the world feels richer in detail and more interactive with NPCs than the 1st game. The devs did a great job at using the tools at hand creatively and cleverly to pass through the waves of rats in your surroundings. Exploration is rewarding and the puzzles are straightforward.
Overall, this game delivers and it is easily one of the best on gamepass. If you like narrative-driven games with a decent/great story to tell, and you like the 1st game. Then this is a must.
I gotta be honest, I was a bit tired of the Rat mechanics by the time I finished the first entry, I was kind of hoping they might do something a little different rather than more of the same Rat stuff. Thanks for the review!

I loved the first one, so even if this sequel isn't perfect, I sure I'm going to love it also. And hey its in gamepass, you can't beat that.
And some might suggest this is the problem with GP - it offers great accessibility to games, but requires very little in terms valueing your time/money. Same with all subscribtion services btw. That's the nature of the beast. It gives, but it happily takes as well

@@Eunostos I don't think you read my comment. Of course GP is good value, but it's fundamental business model is that it's commoditizing your gamer time. That's not necessarily a problem but like all subscription services - it's about giving you things to do/watch enough that you don't stop subscribing. Netflix is the same - PS+ is the same. The issue is it's hard to argue the value... but they don't want you to question how you va,ue your time. If you have 100 free games, you value each a little less (not saying you enjoy them less). Just my point of view - you don't need to agree.

I finished this game definitely this game and Innocence are two of my favorite games in recent memory thanks to the amazing atmosphere, voice acting and story.
I felt the second game felt a tad dragging on towards the end.
What an emotional rollercoaster though

@@HeinSmit1 Yeah it's super demanding. Requires a lot of memory. It also struggles a lot on consoles.
im hearing 1440p 30 fps on PS5 and XSX. 3080 barely putting 60 RT 4k RES
OK so playing at 3440x1440 on ultra just about above 60, running till 80 or so, using quality dlss. Ray tracing in top will be quite heavy lol. At 4k I'm fine with using dlss performance so will try it on the TV when ray tracing is out, I don't see it in the options yet
The thing I hated in the first game is when they made you use the slingshot to get headshots on multiple bad guys rushing you ..targeting made me quit and lose it. Is that a factor in requiem?

Yes because it's still a heavily stealth based game.
It's better now since you get a crossbow. Other than that, the premise is the same as the first game. Though I never encountered an area anywhere near as frustrating as the cart section in the first game.
@@BerryNiceToMeetYou I hated that cart section..that’s where you get rushed by multiple soldiers who also go up and down steps and I just gave up..couldn’t stand even trying again
Needs some optimization for sure. 3080 and 5800x and I'm getting some stuttering and frame drops on ultra preset every once in a while. The game itself is stunning graphically. Enjoying the game play more about 7 hours in now that I don't feel so defenseless. Not a huge stealth person but it is done pretty well. Huge props to the developers as this is another great entry in the series.

I wanted to like this game. The invisible walls, not knowing where to go while being swarmed with rats and guards made me frustrated. Im all for a challenge but this felt unfair. Gaming is suppose to be fun and this just made me felt sad. Ha,ha! Glad its doing well though. Keep up the cool reviews. Peace and love from Cape Town SOUTH AFRICA!

Plague tale innocence was my personal favorite in 2019, I remember the part where Hugo had to escape from some kind of prison it was fun playing Hugo.

The first one was great, only criticism is it took me only 9 hours to finish. Partly good cos I think much longer the gameplay would have got stale, but the story was interesting and I'll be picking this up when it's on sale.

I am close to the end of the game. And this is hands down, one of the best stoey-driven games I have played...EVER. Right up there, and in some cases above, some of the greatest of its kind. This game deserves all the accolades it receives. A true masterpiece. And whatever missteps that you may encounter, whatever flaws the game has(which is not many), they will be instantly forgotten with each new encounter throughout the game. I didn't think any other game released this year could be in the same breath as Elden Ring, especially a mainly story-driven game such as this. I try not to be influenced by 'recentcy bias' when choosing a GOTY, especially how I thought Elden Ring was GOTY way back in Feb. A big reason I am heavy on Elden Ring is because I have never beaten a souls game, and the only one I've played, but eventually called it quits was Sekiro. But 400+ hours later there was no doubt in my mind that ER was GOTY no matter what followed it. And I still feel that way. But man this is right there with it.l
