I am jealous. I have so much admiration for those who are able to maintain their participation. I am editing video of students I trained. I can't believe they were so game to do the enormous and almost impossible hard work that was necessary and simultaneously also put up with my very demanding manner. (th-cam.com/video/SFrd2piVn_M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YBSj6MDx-qSeCji9) I think we who have gone through all that it takes can't quite admit to ourselves how bloody hard it is to do and stay safe as well. Now that I not actively flying I can see it more clearly. Non-flyers cannot begin to fathom the achievement that you have accomplished. I can.

Thanks !!! I began in '76 on an 18' Chandelle - still flying. This brings back some great memories.

I will soon upload the Chandelle Corporation Promotional film from 1973. Not NEARLY as exciting and rich as "Wings of the Wind" though!

Collector Guy Ken ... thanks for preserving that super film! Treasure! How about the Taras look in that car?!

Hey Joe, Taras looked cool whether he was driving or flying or wearing a driving hat or an aviators cap and goggles. I can't think of a moment when he didn't look cool! Some other videos I will post soon were given to me by Richard Eipper. From 72 they include some shots at Playa in which you appear taking a photo of Richard as he takes off. I scan all the faces in the old movies to figure out names and dates. I am pretty sure you are flying the seated Seagull 3 in the opening sequence of "With Seagulls Flying".

Thanks for presenting these films… they are valuable and historical. Lots of Seagulls with the curved leading edges. I started in the late 70,s on a Sky Sports (USA) Merlin… I think it was the first double surfaced wing. It had lots of outriggers and drag inducing stuff. But I had some good flights. We were flying at a base altitude of 6000 feet on the highfields of Transvaal South Africa. We needed a wing loading of less than 1 lb per sq foot. Many hours of waiting for a bit of wind, with no sea breeze 400 miles from the coast. Good stuff please keep going. Maybe with more money you can have these digitaly remastered? I would love to fly again, but my knees aren’t up to it.

I am shocked at the response and really appreciate comments like yours. My goal has been to capture as much of our history and preserve it for posterity. Thank you for pitching in! I have collected for 50 years and mine is likely among the biggest collections anywhere. My library is massive. I have spent the last year scanning the paper library (haven't put a dent in it) and spent the last month converting video to digital. I will upload for the foreseeable future. Subscribe and Like! Since there likely will never be funding or staff to speed the work it will be a slow, steady project that I will not likely finish. Tell your friends!

Thank you for saving and presenting this film. Do you remember the Southern California Hang Gliding Association meetings at the Los Angeles Light and Power building?

I think I only went to one. Chris Wills spoke I think. I wish there was a record. I do have a few related documents but have not scanned them yet.

@ I sat with the Free Flight guys. If I remember correctly, Eipper guys sat lower left, Seagull lower center, Wills Wing lower right, Free Flight middle, and Bill Bennet and his guys sat up by the projector. Bill loved his 16mm movie camera. I remember voting to change the name from Southern California Hang Gliding Association to United States Hang Gliding Association.

@@FlatlandMountaineer-1 I think I have seen a photo of that, maybe in an early Ground Skimmer. I was so totally excited to be there!
