    Album: Minnesang In Südtirol
Video: Photos of the wonderful Runkelstein Castle, near Bolzano in South Tyrol, Italy - XIII secolo
    / musicamedievale

Who other than Michael Posch, a great Austrian musician, could interpret the repertoire of the South Tyrolean Minnesängers in such a wonderful way? In this album from 2004, but unfortunately out of stock everywhere in its physical format, we have some of the most beautiful melodies from the German, Austrian and South Tyrolean Middle Ages (these are all modern borders, once upon a time - you know well - things were different and perhaps one day they will change again).
The interpretation is decidedly genuine and captivating, but not romanticized and pompous. In my opinion it can be compared to the Minnesänger interpretations of the great, and unsurpassed, Eberard Kummer ( • The last medieval musi... ).
Concerning the video: I used photos of the splendid Castel Runkelstein in Bolzano which, with its cycle of frescoes, represents one of the most beautiful and evocative castles in northern Italy.
    I wish you happy listening!

This can be purchased in digital format on Amazon, strangely enough! I know you said it can’t be found in physical format, but I’m sure there are those who’d be happy to have the digital recording, including me! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I really like the song that starts at 11:40, or thereabouts. All of them are good but that one really stands out to me for some reason. :)

Big fan of the channel but that is a weird little bit of editorializing in the description, promoting a political viewpoint of Austrian revanchism towards South Tirol. This is a music channel-you should have no dog in that fight!

What is "minnesang"? You will get more views if you add an English title to the other language. @musicamedievale

Minnesang (German: "love song") was a tradition of German lyric- and song-writing that flourished in the Middle High German period (12th to 14th centuries). The name derives from minne, the Middle High German word for love, as that was Minnesang's main subject. And NOT everything can be only in English!
