  • Another Jimmy/Lou video... Only cos the show gave us plenty of Lou/Kid, so us Jimmy fans have to use our imagination...

Man, what a great song, it fits for sure. Sure wish whoever was in the writers room woulda had more brass when it came to the Jimmy/Lou/Kid love triangle. I’d have really liked to see the Jimmy & Lou thing go places. Oh well, I’m still plenty grateful for this wholesome classic of a western series. I’m gonna be 21yrs this spring, and I’ve been hooked on westerns ever since I was 9 years old. Had no choice but to get hooked on ‘em hahaha, cause my old man is a religious encore western channel watcher, literally all he watched and still watches today. From the 60s black & white westerns to the 90s classic we got here, I found I loved ‘em all. Appreciate your effort for this little tribute to the pair that I preferred the most, tidings from north Idaho!

Thanks very much for the comment. I'm... a bit older than you (o: And I still love going back to watch this show, when I can carve out the time between family obligations (with kids now, I don't get to chill in front of TV as much as I used to) and keeping up with what's new. The cast was great. A little plug, while we're here: The Jimmy/Lou dynamic was a big inspiration when I wrote my Young Riders/True Blood blend fantasy novel(s).

@@TYRjimmything Well here’s hoping that those kids of yours give you some much deserved respite so you can continue writing & watching, lol! I’m a 21 year old laborer for my dads concrete/carpentry outfit, and most week days I’m pretty beat up when I get home, covered up to my neck in concrete & sawdust. And you can wager your house & everything in it that I’ve not one friend in my social circle that enjoys this stuff like I do lol. I’ve been told I’ve got a knack for writing by few enough people to inspire me to do it, but I need more ambition I think. Maybe once I move outta the boonies of north Idaho and into some city, I’ll find some folks that I can enjoy writing fanfics about 90s westerns with XD. Anyhow, hope you and yours are staying safe & sound during this pandemic, at least I think it’s still a pandemic lol. Thank you once again for this.

@@WhaleofDreams Hey, with the wonders of the internet, you can find people who love what you love so much easier! Have you hung out on fanfiction.net? (Try: www.fanfiction.net/search/?keywords=%22The+Young+Riders%22&ready=1&type=story). I'm in New Zealand, so we're pretty well protected from the pandemic. Now & then the virus slips through the borders, but we don't let it stay for long. Both kids are at school from this year, so, yes, I am putting some time to writing at the moment to see if I can make a go at it. If I fall flat, then I guess I'll have to get a real job again. I do hope you find some satisfaction in the job you're doing. Pretty cool being able to build stuff, whether concrete/wood or imaginary with words/art. It all leaves a mark and might help someone. All the best to you. and yours.

@EdieCiaoBaby Yeah. The good 'ol Wild West has fallen by the wayside a bit, hasn't it? And so many shows that have the promise of characters that are worth emotionally investing in end up cancelled... (big sigh) sad. And I don't think I've seen a love triangle quite as well constructed as this... even though I bet it goes on it real life all the time!

@EdieCiaoBaby Yep. And ya gotta feel sorry for the kids of today having Vamps pushed down their throats. And don't get me wrong, I like a good forensics show as much as the next person, but do we need... gosh, how many of them? Come on TV channels... be brave. Step outside the box!

Jimmy& Lou where my favorite Riders. Hate it when writers of show put wrong people together as a couple. It should have been Jimmy& Lou as a couple. Lou and the Kid all wrong for each other. I think the only reason they put them together was because he was first to find out she was a girl, but I don't think he was I personal think Jimmy knew before Kid did. I A Jimmy& Lou as a couple fan then and now and in the future.

I'm OK with the idea that Kid found out first, but, yeah, it sucks that it was just a "first in, first served" kind of scenario... what about female agency? I can't help but think Lou liked Jimmy... but, perhaps she didn't think he was the relationship type... I think it would have created some really interesting tension if they'd tried. Just FYI, this is pretty much why I wrote (write... still working on the third) my books. My Llew and Jonas (hmm...) did start off as Lou and Jimmy knock offs, although I like to think they've grown into their own characters. But, yes, it was a way for me to explore this relationship.
