Weapons of the Metabaron has been reprinted in a larger size before. It was actually in book 2 of the Deconstructing the Jodoverse Slipcase Hardcover that was released in October 2021.

This is standing happily on my bookshelf next to The Metabarons and The Technopriests. 🥰
That shot of Nameless jumping from the jet is what made me fall in love with Charest's art 20 years(!) ago.
    Great review!

I'm new to the Metabarons stories -- but really enjoying these oversize editions.

As someone who followed the saga of the making of this book since the early 2000s, up until it was released in France in 2008, i can't tell you how disappointed i was by the whole thing when it finally came out. Yes, Travis is an amazing artist, but he bit more than he could chew at the time when he embarked in this journey as the fully painted approach he went for was not financially sustainable. This lead to Janjetov having to finish the book at the 11th hour so it could finally be released, producing some of his worst work because he didn't have the luxury of time.
The finished book is just a mess, with a barebone story that, in my opinion, ranks as one of the worst from Jodorowsky. This whole book only made sense at the time because of the incredible art that was promised and teased, for years, by Les Humanoides Associes. Not for the story, as it was an obvious milking of the franchise. And then all you get is 29 pages of what was promised? After 8 years?

Completely agree, this is absolutely not worth buying, and the story is just terrible. The art that is here is mostly great, but this is not a complete package. I'm honestly getting pretty tired of Humanoids repackaging so many of their books in different formats.

@@brianjones8721 Les Humanoides Associes/Humanoids would probably not exist anymore if it wasn't for the constant reprints of anything Moebius and Jodorowsky produced under the label. It is their bread and butter.

      The Metabarons
      The Metabarons Genesis: Castaka
      Weapons of the Metabaron
The Metabaron vol 1: Techno Admiral & Anti-Baron
The Metabaron vol 2: The Techno-Cardinal & Transhuman
The Metabaron vol 3: Meta Guardianess & Techno Baron
The Metabaron vol 4: The Bastard & Proto-Guardianess
Technically Genesis: Castaka takes place before The Metabarons but I prefer publication order to in-world chronology for all things.
The Metabaron (no "s") vol. 1-3 has also been collected together as "Metabarons Second Cycle" but that book is not as oversized and doesn't include vol 4. Also The Metabaron (no "s") is only "story by" Jodorowsky, not directly written by him as all the others are. It is still good however.
Also The Incal is technically the first appearance of the current Metabaron but don't feel you need to read it first. It's a classic obviously, but for modern readers it does not read as well or easily as any of the Metabarons books.
