While my windows were trimmed with drywall to finish them off, they were bare and boring. Plus, I wanted a larger window ledge for displaying plants and other window decor. With some inexpensive $1.00/ft MDF primed trim, I was able to turn these windows from bare to amazing! See how it can be done in just one weekend or less on 6 windows! :)

I am a female in construction. My dad always want my sister and I to be independent! Our trick for trim with mitered corners is getting a small block and rabbit-ing the reveal of the casing. Less measuring and a consistent reveal. Works for everything including doors. Miters are tough but that tool makes it easier. Love your videos and your passion btw!!
This is the only video out of like 20 that was detailed, and not overly intimidating. I like that there was no scary table saw lol. I feel like I can actually do this with these tools.
Awww, best comment ever!!! I do try to keep my videos are relatable as possible. So happy to help you and that you feel comfortable tackling it now!
It’s looking great! Your niece is beautiful! Tell her hope she’s on more videos.
Aww, thank you! I will tell her you said so! She loves helping me out so I'll be sure to include her. ❤️
Hi Serena it's looking good can't wait for finishing day ☺️.keep up the good work Phil 👍🌹
Hey, my friend! Thank you! Hope you've been well.
You…are…amazing! And so talented! I rarely comment on people’s videos, but I had to tell you how extraordinary you are! Doing home projects like this are fulfilling, because not many people can. You’re saving a lot of money with your talents and know how!
Serena, your workshop is looking awesome! I'm interested in seeing how you fix those leaks around the doors.
My husband passed away over 25 years ago, and just last fall I discovered a brand-new pneumatic brad nailer he had purchased. Unfortunately, he never got a chance to use it. It's time for me to do a little trial and error research, and figure out how to use that tool, along with a whole bunch of his other tools.
I love it ! I want a She shed.
You can get one! In fact, there is a She Shed group oj Facebook that I'm part of with lots of types of she sheds! You might see something that you like. There are some really cute ones.
We’ve been talking about trying to make a tiny house from a shed, and you’re my new hero!
My windows aren’t framed! I have an idea now!! Thank you for your advice! I just love your channel!
Yay, glad I could help!
I'm so excited. We are almost there. I'm so proud of you.
Aww, thanks, Crystal! I appreciate it!!
Everything is coming along so well! Great job on this project! You're doing awesome... it's very inspiring!
Thank you for following along!!
@@ThriftDiving No problem! Keep up the great work!
I love your niece helped you. everything is looking so good.
Pro tip: Cut your boards at 45 degrees and you will keep the white edges as well as having a more aesthetically pleasing frame.
Yes, mitered corners are preferred. But for whatever reason, I didn't. But you are correct. :)
It is not a problem, you can repair/adjust later if you want. You made some very good videos.@@ThriftDiving
I get nervous when power tools are involved but you make it look so doable!
You could TOTALLY use them! What are you most interested in learning how to use? As soon as I'm done the shed, I plan to record my power tools course! You can sign up here for more info when it's ready! thriftdiving.com/tools :)
@@ThriftDiving I guess I'm interested in what the basic set of tools you need and what to generally use them for. Like what's the bare minimum you can get by with and still do a lot a projects. I know just jumping in and using them will help me get over my nervousness but also, there just seems to be a different tool for every little thing. It's a little overwhelming. Thanks for the link! I'll check it out!
So little progress? Woman you pretty much built a studio apartment. Give yourself more credit. I've been trying to clean my basement since January lol
Also those Aviator safety glasses are cool. I'd wear those casually.
Haha! Good one! I know, I shouldn't feel like I'm moving like molasses, but it feels that way. Each step takes more time than I anticipate. But isn't that always how it is? As for your basement, get 'ta going, girl! How about you do it in 30 minute increments?
I'm so excited for you! You'll be finished I'm no time!!!
Hoping, girl, hoping! Even after the flooring goes in, I still need to figure out a desk (make one or thrift one), workbench, wall storage....soooo much!
I love watching your videos! You explain things so clearly. Yes, those safety glasses are dope! 🤩😍Where did you get them?
Thank you!! I ordered them from Duluth Trading Company!
“It seems like so little progress…” umm UR DOING AN AMAZING JOB! Especially since ur doing this all on ur own. In 6 months that’s pretty amazing progress if u ask me!
Great work! Looks awesome everyone needs a space like yours! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for sharing!!💖 Love it !! I can't wait to see how you do the baseboards!
Btw I LOVE your vids. So excited to see the finish of the She Shed and new projects. But no rush…
Thank you!!! ❤️ I know, right. The biggest rush is that I'm ready to start using the shed. The electrician came and connected the rest of the circuits but I still need to install the devices into the receptacles. I also need seating, so I can bring my computer to work in there. So I'm still not as "done" done as I need to be to start using the space more. That's the real rush!
@@ThriftDiving It will definitely happen. It’s always Awesome to see the outcome of your own projects. I brought a Ryobi brad nailer and drill yesterday. I brought the drill for the battery. It was a less expensive option. I already have a trusty drill but I’ll definitely make use of it. Keep up the great work. Thanks for your feedback also.
YOU ARE MY SHE-RO!!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!
Woohoo, another gjrl in the shop!
Thanks so much!!! You’re amazing!!!
Thank you, Maria!!
The windows look awesome!!
Oh wow it looks gorgeous! You did a great job!
Nice. I'm starting to trim mine. I didn't do wallboard yet
Great job and very informative as always! ~ Funkensense 💚
Thank you!!
Super Serena! 😊
thank you!
❤ thank you
Excelente su video.
As far as your little neighbor now when you're using that is it really heavy you know cuz a lot of the stuff that I like to do is up high so I just have a tendency to just use a screwdriver in you know whatever but I would love to get ahold of one of those so weight-wise what is it way and you look fantastic in those glasses
I’m looking to do some crown molding but I don’t see that you have a vid for it. Am I wrong?
You're correct. No video for crown molding, but I do have a great ebook that I did for crown molding! Email me and I'll send it to you: serena@thriftdiving.com
@@ThriftDiving thank you. I will do so.
Question for the day? Does that Ryobi jig saw really cut that smooth. I can't seem to find a jig, or saber saw, that cuts smooth. I remember you said a while back about getting smooth cutting blades. I did but my jig saws still do not cut without splitting. BTW, your shop is looking great. Look forward to when it is complete.
You could live in that shed
Hey Serena! You did an interview maybe a year ago with a lady who was discussing a book that everyone needed to have and write down wishes to do in your parents last days. I dont see the interview on your page could your tell me the name of the book? I thought it was a great interview maybe not a topic we want to discuss but need too. Anyway, if you can link the interview and name of book it would be great.
What size mdf board
Why didn’t you miter the corners?
I'm kind of surprised you didn't miter the corners.
I really need to become more hands on. I purchased my house last year, but I’m not one to do diy’s smh.
What were the dimensions of the MDF?
For the window sill, the MDF was I think 1x5". The PVC around the window was 1"x4"
How bad were your shoulders and arms hurting after painting? Have you been building up strength over time diy-ing?
Serena, I’ve been watching your channel for a long time and really enjoy it but you need to change the name, how about “Serena Shares”.
Hi Judy! Thanks for the suggestion! Thrift Diving's pillars are about paint, power tools, and thrift stores and doing as many home projects yourself to make them more affordable. It also encompasses creating, inspiring, and teaching. 😁
Why oh why do you keep calling it a She Shed?? This a freakin Dope a$$ tiny house LOL!!! Lookin good Kid. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
