That's a nice car, it's just a little dated. Good for him to bring it around to a timeless look. The hacked dash is one thing, but to scratch the glass cutting speakers in? That's a new level of no Fs given. Thanks for the vids! Always stoked to see what's getting worked on next.
If that happened to me, after all the love and passion spent building this car, I would be in cuffs and the "installer" would be in ICU. Sweet fix Lucky, stay safe.
Groovy tune dude! You youngsters shouldn’t try freehand shaping like Lucky does till you grow some real forearms from using real wrenches. I usually don’t listen to my radio in the car much but like to keep one working in case I have to bail during a big storm or other big event.
You know lucky, your workmanship is beyond great, years ago, mid 70s Audiovox came out w a in dash am/fm 8 track w adjustable shafts, it came w 2 plates, 1 for behind the dash, cause the face didn’t fit in many of the openings, like a 69 Lemans/GTO you had to hack much out, then use the back plate and the face plate, and the back bracket to hold it in, then you had to file the face plate cause of the adjustment on the shafts, real butcher job, recommended by Audiovox
The guy owns a '57 Chevy and cannot install his own radio, or fix the hacked hole? Wow. I guess this is why radio installers and fabricators like Lucky are in business. When I bought my house, a lady at work asked me if I needed a good painter. I said, no, that's me. Good grief.
Oh man!, how many dashes did I hack for my Pioneer Supertuner to fit, back in the day!?, a lot, but today there is no need for that BS, and for that stereo shop to cut the dash when they were specifically told not to is complete bullshit!
So you undo all the hack job and then the owner takes it to a 'stereo' shop to finish the install. I know it's not my car, but it would look so much nicer with all the original guages back in it. If it has a LS in it he could put a 5 inch digital display dash in the glovebox to monitor what's going on with the engine. That way when it's parked up he could shut the glovebox and it would look stock. Those replacement dash displays for the older cars just look cheap in my opinion. But they are worth ridiculous money for something that was cool in 1999.
Clearly, the owner of this 57 has some major cash into the build already. I just don't get how he ended up taking it to some stereo butchers. I hope they paid for the damage.
I'm done with hot rods. My last was a 67 Mustang with all the goodies, including 3 pedals (now that I think about it, all my performance cars had three pedals)! It had a $20 cassette stereo that actually worked but was never turned on because the engine was too loud! Yes, I did drive that car just about everyday except when it rained. I sold it many years ago to someone who shipped it to Belgium!
its not a hack when you are putting in the work. Not that I fault you for the misleading title of the video. That car looks fantastic. Its more like 'fixing a hack job'.
He probably took it to Best Buy radio installs. Why didn’t he take it to you in the first place. He obviously found you after the fact. There are too many unreliable idiots out there so I do all my work.
THANKS FOR THE "GENERIC" REPLY -"I LIKE YOUR COMMENTS" - EXPECTED A BETTER REPLY WITH MAYBE A "THANK YOU" - TRIED TO ATTACH THOSE PROOF DRAWINGS, BUT YOU HAVE A NO-REPLY EMAILS AND IT WAS RETURNED - PLEASE GIVE ME THE CHANCE TO ATTACH THE ACTUAL DRAWING FROM A "57 CHEVY" PRODUCTION MODEL CAR - PROVIDE ME WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS THAT WILL ACCEPT THESE ATTACHED PHOTOS - ALSO, WANT TO ATTACH A PHOTO OF MY 57 CHEVY - "MY BABY" THANKS, MICHAEL
There would be blood possibly a missing persons report if that was done to my car. So many hacks install stereos.
...They'd've been taking both of us to the hospital, to get my feet out of his [censored!]...
Good job repairing that mess! I kind of find it hard to believe the owner brought this to a real shop .
You did your usual super job on the 57. I finished the 56 210 for my wife for the 4th time. She is quite 😊.
That's a nice car, it's just a little dated. Good for him to bring it around to a timeless look.

There is no such thing as a dated 57 Bel Air.
OMG!!! Those A......HOLES!! There would be BLOOD! LUCKY to the rescue!🛠
I watched this video to see you weld the patch in, oh well.
Don't cut my dash. Ok, I cut the dash.
I remember when stereo shops prided themselves on putting in a system without any trace (so it doesn't get stolen). Not these guys :-P
If that happened to me, after all the love and passion spent building this car, I would be in cuffs and the "installer" would be in ICU. Sweet fix Lucky, stay safe.
What part of "dont cut my dash" didn't they understand?
"don't"....the part they conveniently ignored LOL!!
I would like to see that interior when it's finished.
Lucky is one badass mechanic I wish I could get his help on my car one day
That '57 is purrrrrdy!
Lucky, you are a craftsman !
Groovy tune dude! You youngsters shouldn’t try freehand shaping like Lucky does till you grow some real forearms from using real wrenches. I usually don’t listen to my radio in the car much but like to keep one working in case I have to bail during a big storm or other big event.
No a fan of the rims but what a Beautiful car
Nice job lucky. You love that sanding stick hey 😂
After all of that debacle, why doesn't he have YOU put the radio in - didn't you get your start installing radios? That was seriously butchered..
I had the Muntz Stereo shop on Holt in Pomona, repair the 8-track in my 60 VETTE Gasser...Wow I’m old..
Thanks for the Video....Its all about Skill. Stay Healthy My Friend. Regards.
Incredible work , in tight courters! I would love to learn that secret! Thanks again Lucky
You got it!
Looks like the "shop truck" got a shiny bumper!

If i put a radio in an older car i put it either in the glove box or under the seat
Patch pieces stay in without welding.. 😱👍👏
nice new old trim fit..

Nice repair a Lucky, I hope you’re sending the bill to the __________ who did the damage. Thank you.👍🏼🤘🏼😎

You the man lucky , glad you fixed it
Oh man!, how many dashes did I hack for my Pioneer Supertuner to fit, back in the day!?, a lot, but today there is no need for that BS, and for that stereo shop to cut the dash when they were specifically told not to is complete bullshit!
why didyn the owner just get a custom auto sound system there made for his car i bought one for my 86 c10 i know it will look factory great job lucky
Pay the right guy the first time..Thankyou
And he's bringing it to another stereo shop? Just let you finish the job.
One thing to hack your own car, but to hack someone else's, not good. Good fix though
Spent many a mile spent behind gauges like that! I can tell you, the original idiot lights were... idiotic.
WTF is a car stereo? Asking for a friend...
That's good work man !! Nice and clean.
Lets hope the new stereo shop does not cut up the dash
If that was my car, that stereo installer would be shittin teeth for a week.
Wow,Lucky! Wonderful job.
Thank you
Any videos on how to replace dash lights on a 55 Bel Air??
Nice work as usual.
Thanks Lucky ✌
onya Lucky. you're alright.

Nice Job Lucky.
I would have been livid and then he would never work on anything of mine again there is no reason to cut a dash ex specially hack it like that
There is a site that has retro looking radios with Bluetooth that keep the car looking period correct. I think its retromanufacturing
When you talk to the owner and ask how bad could it be...
What a good looking car
Can't believe they don't want you to put the radio in.
Very nice video!!!! 👍
My 57 has a radio AND clock delete panel
Good job lucky but next time film the work of welding come on now
Holy F...! I would be before a jury if some ass pulled that on me!
Clearly, the owner of this 57 has some major cash into the build already. I just don't get how he ended up taking it to some stereo butchers. I hope they paid for the damage.
That Foose shit interior had to go.

When they send this out to an audio shop will they tell them don't cut the dash? LOL
lucky for Supreme Ruler
Took your 57 Chevy to a "stereo shop" was your first mistake.
its not a hack when you are putting in the work. Not that I fault you for the misleading title of the video. That car looks fantastic. Its more like 'fixing a hack job'.
Awesomeness
Why would you take a car to a stereo shop. That's like the easiest thing to install.
Knife and fork hacks worked on that car....
He probably took it to Best Buy radio installs. Why didn’t he take it to you in the first place. He obviously found you after the fact. There are too many unreliable idiots out there so I do all my work.
lucky you are the master
Nice Car
I would have went to jail over that sh!t

Lucky , your not going to be so lucky one day. Get some safety glasses or a face shield.
👍
Sawsall
I don't know bout you all but I'd be pised if I took my car to a shop and told them not to cut the dash, and they cut the dash.
Shame them
👍
