Glorious pure cheese. I used to know someone who did the Nightshift on Trent who kindly sent me a jungle collection tape in the late eighties. I can still sing the "We're with you" theme by heart.
Carry on "Walking in the sun simply having fun!"
    R.I.P local radio.

I live in Nottingham and wasn't born for another 5 years when this was made. It's such a shame it's all gone into that conglomerate nastiness! Thank you for uploading this awesomeness!

Hi youngster! Grr! :) Erica, I am a Derbian but did my degree (1979-82) at, what was then, Trent Poly (Nottingham Trent Uni, now). I commuted daily from Derby to Nottingham via bus and, later, car on the A52. As you might imagine, Radio Trent was important to me and I loved it. Indeed, it was sometimes said to be the best independent Local Radio (ILR) in the UK. I am so sad that it, and the rest of the ILR network have been subsumed into big corporate organisations which, despite being parasitic on local radio, are certainly neither local nor, usually, even proper radio. So, it is with sadness but nostalgia I write this and in complete agreement with you. Hope the East Midlands is fine - I am now in the south of England. Take care.

I’m glad this brings back good memories for you. We’ve swapped places! I grew up in the South of England and moved up to the East Midlands, whereas you seem to have gone the other way. Nice talking to you :)

This is a rare find indeed. Thanks for uploading. Lots of memories of this radio station. I used to call Steve Merike on his phone-ins a lot back in the day.

Even though the DJs all sound like Smashy and Nicey, it brings back fond memories of the late 70s/early 80s putting off doing homework on a Sunday evening!

Trent was one of the better ILRs and had a team of ex-pirate presenters and management. Beacon, Piccadilly, Metro and Capital, in that order, were four others with a similar structure.
