This is hands DOWN your best "basic" flat American accent reading. You should do this accent more often in your military stories, because as a military member I can tell you we dont have as many of the "good ol boy" texan/alabama types as movies try to sell. Most of us have pretty flat accents
As someone that grew up an Air Force brat, and went into the Army after high school (that didn’t end well, lost all the cartilage in one knee during Basic), the military does tend to flatten all accents. Even foreign born citizens that join end up with their accent ground down to a barely there edge.
I concur with the only two accents that remain though subtly and barely there are those from the certain southern states- Texas Louisiana Bama Georgia and north east - Jersey NY and Boston lol and usually only come out in high stress situations but again very subtly. like the use of the Rza moniker had that CD when it first came out.
One of the best Wendigo horror stories I have heard in a while. The way you breathe that creeping horror into these stories is beyond words...
Wendigos can't shapeshift but it could make sence in a way with the deer monster describing could be that or a skin walker

Oh, a Wendigo. I was confused as to what this actually was.
At first I thought that the protag killed her sister and blamed it on the deer monster.
I love how the story makes you believe that the sister is the only one who becomes a monster, the fact that not only her but the parents and town. The town is self explanatory, but the parents are two different types. The father becomes one to the town, and the mother to the daughter.
Great narration, great story! I really appreciate how well you convey the emotions and the slow pace of the developing horror. I'd love to hear another part of this one!

Didn’t quite understand the ending lots of unanswered questions…..
She was possessed by a wendigo spirit, killed the parents, and was waiting for the sister to come out to kill or maybe take her instead because the cancer was killing it current host
Wow what a great story, I love creepypastas that leave you to your imagination, especially at the ending, and this one did it perfectly. Was she a zombie? Was she dead? Was she just possessed? Why did the monster take her? Was it a wendigo? Why was she able to come back? Is the person she was before she was taken gone forever? Open ended stories are very hard to get right, and this one managed to do so flawlessly, great listen!

The story is open to so many interpretations. Was the leukemia diagnosis caused by her really being a wendigo? Was the wendigo after her?
I think she was possessed by it, thats a thing in the mythology. Maybe the body was just breaking down, and the wendigo was looking for a new host aka the sister

With all due respect, if you go back through this story you will find that Wendigo is a good fit. The description matches. The amnesia matches. The missing fingernails VERY much match, because fingernails would have grown back if pulled out of a living person.
@@thelaughinghyenas8465 we lack the details, the description is a "deer monster" and if you go back to indigenous folklore, they weren't deer like. Nowadays it seems every creepypasta that even touches on Forrest monster's with animalistic features is seen a a wendigo or skin walker story

You have a brilliant voice for narrations. You also have a great reading pace. I like horror to be suspenseful, giving you a chance to absorb the scene mentally, and many narrators read too fast which makes it harder to mentally visualise the scene. Your pace is excellent, not too fast 😁.

Ending the story when you get to the climax. That's not strong writing skills that's just writer's block and it really makes for a terrible story I'm getting tired of this method I've seen it for multiple people calling themselves authors. I've heard such great stories on your channel but here lately something has changed and I can't say I like it one bit. Now I'm just one person and your your own man and going to do what you want but here's an opinion from someone not afraid to speak up.
The background music ruins it. I'm autistic and can't listen because of the music.

This story needs a sequel. She’s either a Wendigo or a skinwalker. it’s really creepy though. hits home for me since I have a sister too and I’d just be as distraught and doing drugs too if my sister disappeared for that long and returned like that. DNA tests aren’t worth shit if your sibling acts like that.
On Reddit there’s several more parts. He usually does the series but I didn’t see any more narrations

There was something missing from this story. The ending was anticlimactic. Also the DNA testing shows that the sister is still human, just probably possessed. So many loose ends that this needs multiple part. Still good, though.
Giving Amy a male-presenting voice really added to this story once the religious abuse is revealed (not much of a spoiler - just flavor). It made me think about how the mom must have felt: losing her older daughter to the wilderness and losing her son to their true identity (being a trans woman). No wonder the family is so estranged, even without the paranormal being at play.

Two minutes in and I'm being reminded of brand names why? It's not grounding, it feels like advertising.
Camera bulbs don’t pop and flash anymore lol - not in the same era as DNA testing has been available. Plus Xanax and white claws. Think the writer might watch a bit too much television or movies. Flashbulbs and flashpowder fell out of commercial photography use around the 1950’s and out of amateur photography in the 70’s. A flashbulb could only be used once, and needed to be replaced for the next photo. Just one of those details that completely breaks all suspension of disbelief. That and the behavior of this person who’s supposed to be fully grown storming away and treating everyone with selfish temper. It’s supposedly been fifteen years. They’d have time to process all that.
Flash bulbs were around in the the 80's.They were cubes that had 4 bulbs.They rotated after each picture.I agree with your other points..

This story would’ve been fine if it was “my sister went feral and it almost tore my family apart and now that she’s back it’s only worse but we reconnected etc.” but it just had to go the cliche route of “Now she a Wendigo oOoOoOoOo creepy skinwalker amirite cool kids”
