Please do a unboxing and review of the 13' macbook pro! That would be awesome to see how that performs. I might need one for school. It has to run the adobe CS well.
They play games superbly. I have the 2011 sandy bridge macbook air, and it plays games perfectly fine, including, but not limited to, Amnesia, Halo, Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead, and Minecraft. I think you will be very satisfied for choosing a mac.
I think you should go for the 13". The 11" is way too small for me, and I have a 13" MacBook Pro. The Air should be able to handle your tasks just fine.
the 13 inch for 100 bucks extra is quite justified IMO, you get an sd card slot and better battery, aside from the obvious larger and higher res screen.
I want one so bad! Ugh, okay, that's it. I'm 16, its time for me to start getting a job. I've been drooling all over these videos wanting each Apple product, omg.
Actually the new one with 8gigs of onboard ram, usb 3 and 2gHz i7 is blast for music production and editing because all it's components are as fast as it gets.
I've found that if a product is better and worth buying, it would be better by a large margin. So far I haven't seen anything that would compel me to spend more for a metal device with the operating specs being so close in comparison. The only thing I can see is the personal gratification some people experience by purchasing a device that not everyone else can afford, giving them the feeling of exclusivity. More power to them. I'm with you Austin!
yea but remember those are ipad apps. youre gonna be installing programs that take 2+ times the size, plus all of your itunes stuff you have. Minimum go for the 128gb model.
That's the way it used to be. But if you were to check the Apple website now, you'd see that the specs are about the same. With the help of the Air's SSD drive that makes things that much faster on the air, they both function nearly identically to each other. If I were to choose between the two, I'd go with the air now.
I find this perfect for me. I am a highschool student and this helps me write essays, reports, and overall helps. TOTALLY worth it, and may I add that they have lots of cases for Macbooks too. :D
it depends if the pro is solid state or not. The air is nothing but solid state, which is 4 to 5 times faster than a regular spinning hard drive. So to say briefly with the pro's superior specs versus the air's solid state memory, yes they are about the same.
Basically, if your a college student or someone who needs to carry their laptop around everywhere, get the air (or a windows ultrabook if there are games not available on mac that you really want to play; either way these systems are best for light gaming). MBP if you want a little more power at the cost of a little portability and finally some windows based laptop if you want dedicated graphics (only macbook w/ dedicated is 15-inch MBP starting at $1799)
I cannot decide between the 13" Pro and the 13" Air, I will use it for college but it's also my primary computer. When I'm home I will use an external monitor. What do you suggest? :)
how are you liking that 11"? i have been convinced that i want a 13 but after going to the fruitstand yesterday now i'm thinking i want the portability of the 11. i know the battery isn't as good but i'll never be far from a charger. i didn't really think the screen was too small either and i'm in my 30s. my first laptop was an inspiron 700m which was 11 or 12 inches and i loved it...
Ugh watching so many macbooks unboxings make me want to buy one for the first. Oh well, guess i'll to ditch my tennis practice to go this weekend with my dad and buy one. Oh well!
i really liked the first charger because it was smaller/thinner and took up less space so buying the adapter is pointless since its either bigger/thicker or the same as the new one
Thank you! Was that 100GB free with iLife installed? I actually cancelled my MacBook Air 11 inch order and splurged for the 13 inch. The consensus seems that 11 inches is too small for most and I plan to use it for video and photo edits while in the field. 13 inch will give me more screen real estate but won't take up much more room or weight in my backpack.
Hi JD. Here is the answer to your question. Firstly, both the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air are two very good laptops. The MacBook Pro is good for doing things that involve work. It's not really a liesure laptop (although you can use it like that). The MacBook Air is good for web-browsing, gaming and small amounts of work (i.e. word processing, presentations, spreadsheets). I would recommend the MacBook Air for you.
I'm wondering if the upgrade from 1,7 ghz to 2,0 ghz would affect battery life much? 5 hours in itself is hardly good enough, I don't want it to drop down that much lower. Can't seem to find this information. And also, I would get as much RAM as possible, I've heard that that doesn't affect battery life in a negative way? I've even heard that it increases battery life, if so, how much could I expect?
How much free disk space was on the 128GB SSD hard drive when you first turned it on and is that with iLife suite installed? I'm getting a bare bones Mac to carry in the field with me for Final Cut Pro X edits and Photoshops edits. I don't know if I should splurge for the 256 gig SSD or not, since I'll simply be loading only 40 gigs or so of content on it, before I return home and dump the the NAS and its big brother iMac. Excellent unboxing and review!
The new connector looks cool but... i more liked the old ones because they had that idk how you call it, L-turn ? beside the price I like 3.0 support with bluetooth 4.0 :D
Noted. That is understood when considering the Chromebook. However, MS Office is exclusive to MS, but Google Docs is exclusive to Google and that is compatible with MS office. I have converted all of my MS office files over to Google Docs and it works perfectly. Many people do not use Photoshop. Screwed? Only if I purchased the Chromebook without knowing what I was purchasing.
2021 anyone❤️👊
This MacBook still expensive today.
lol
5:56 yess classic Mac startup sound. So glad they brought it back for macOS 11
April 1st, COVID-19, searching for “things I should’ve bought”...
This was my first MacBook. One of the best computers I've had.
THE MOST GREATEST TECH CHANNEL ON TH-cam. Thanks Mike!
Im in love with that laptop!!
Man, I am not even a Mac user and I love your videos.
all smiles ! kudos to this video :) as it makes me happy, like almost having a new mac book air in my hands vicariously
When I start my part time job, I'm saving up for one of these :)
Did you ever get it?
KherielTheCereal we will never know
Which one is better?
MacBook pro late 2011 i7
384 Intel graphics
MacBook pro mid 2012 i5
1.5GB Intel graphics
Please do a unboxing and review of the 13' macbook pro! That would be awesome to see how that performs. I might need one for school. It has to run the adobe CS well.
Mike is the best tech reviewer on youtube hands down.
apple should seriously bring these back with M1 chips for collector’s item or casual use
im happy with my m1 macbook air, but i wanted the glowing apple logo ever since i was little lmao
Is this worth it? I might get one for Christmas because I've had nothing but issues with Windows.
Yes it is! But btw you have it now?
Metra force idk idk if he’s gonna respond 6 years later
for some reason your videos always make a product more visually impressive than when I see them in store :D
I want to buy one of these but does it really not have a CD drive ? Damn...
I like that you use it too in the unboxing!
They play games superbly. I have the 2011 sandy bridge macbook air, and it plays games perfectly fine, including, but not limited to, Amnesia, Halo, Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead, and Minecraft. I think you will be very satisfied for choosing a mac.
I don't know what kind of person would dislike this video. Congratz Mike the video is fantastic keep good work !
delicious as always. just wondering, does unboxing a new apple product EVER get boring for you?
You are one of the best tech reviewers + unboxers
You get the bessssssssssssst of both worlds mix it all together and you know you got the best of both worlds
Cool video. I agree the new power connecter looks like the original. Not a big fan of those.
Computer reviewers on youtube have the nicest voices.
And Detroitborg is the #1 person for tech unboxing and reviews
Are you from the future? Here in 2012, this laptop is a beauty.
I downloaded this video in 720p as I do with most of your unboxing and tech review vids :)
if ur not gonna boot camp , or store vids and songs or games on it its good for you, 64gb is like for school use and some internet surfing
I think you should go for the 13". The 11" is way too small for me, and I have a 13" MacBook Pro. The Air should be able to handle your tasks just fine.
Btw, this is the best unboxing/review on youtube for the Air :)
Is it worth the money I wonder? If you don't care about which OS to use...
the 13 inch for 100 bucks extra is quite justified IMO, you get an sd card slot and better battery, aside from the obvious larger and higher res screen.
I want one so bad!
Ugh, okay, that's it. I'm 16, its time for me to start getting a job.
I've been drooling all over these videos wanting each Apple product, omg.
You say the MacBook Air’s trackpad is oversized. Compare it to the 2017 MacBook Pro’s trackpad and it will look tiny
As someone who owns a touchbar MacBook Pro, I really love the size of the trackpad. There's no such thing as a trackpad too big
Worth getting in 2015?
Get the 2015 11 inch
+Prem Krishna Chettri do you still have MBA for sell?
I have one and its running el capitan so it runs just fine i keep min plugged in all the time though even the battery is just fine
Actually the new one with 8gigs of onboard ram, usb 3 and 2gHz i7 is blast for music production and editing because all it's components are as fast as it gets.

You at one of the best tech reviewers + unboxers
Should I get macbook air 13 inch for Christmas cus windows is putting me off!
***** thanks!
I would buy the MacBook Air 13 too so you could get a Macbooks Air because is the cheapest Mac
yea but remember those are ipad apps. youre gonna be installing programs that take 2+ times the size, plus all of your itunes stuff you have. Minimum go for the 128gb model.

I was annoyed when the vid was over, it was soo good, thanks!
Should I buy a MacBook Air now or wait for the 2013 version ?
will be purchasing one tomorrow. this video's helped me get through the waiting
I find this perfect for me. I am a highschool student and this helps me write essays, reports, and overall helps. TOTALLY worth it, and may I add that they have lots of cases for Macbooks too. :D

Yes, but I'd recommend the MacBook Pro Retina simply because you can view photo's and multimedia brilliantly
You must be new to Apple. The thunderbolt port is just like a mini displayport
Basically, if your a college student or someone who needs to carry their laptop around everywhere, get the air (or a windows ultrabook if there are games not available on mac that you really want to play; either way these systems are best for light gaming). MBP if you want a little more power at the cost of a little portability and finally some windows based laptop if you want dedicated graphics (only macbook w/ dedicated is 15-inch MBP starting at $1799)
Holy crap! The Macbook Pro, with the retina display, has a resolution of 2880x1800! Apple is going big!
Thanks again! That's a good amount of space remaining, since I'll be archiving off to a NAS at home.
Getting my 2013 one in only 7 hours!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Finally a good unboxing video.
Ordered one from Best Buy a few days ago and they're back ordered! I want it now!
I cannot decide between the 13" Pro and the 13" Air, I will use it for college but it's also my primary computer. When I'm home I will use an external monitor. What do you suggest? :)
this thing is a few inches larger than ipad but it's very expensive. then again, this is a true laptop.
how are you liking that 11"?
i have been convinced that i want a 13 but after going to the fruitstand yesterday now i'm thinking i want the portability of the 11. i know the battery isn't as good but i'll never be far from a charger. i didn't really think the screen was too small either and i'm in my 30s. my first laptop was an inspiron 700m which was 11 or 12 inches and i loved it...

What do you prefer this one or macbook pro?
i really liked the first charger because it was smaller/thinner and took up less space so buying the adapter is pointless since its either bigger/thicker or the same as the new one
Can't wait for the MacBook Pro Retina review
the low end 13 inch and the high end 11 inch are mostly the same so pick one that will fit your needs.
What will you recommend: Macbook Air 11" 128GB or Macbook Air 13" 128GB, to a student that use applications?
great video. how did you resell your older air and how much money did you get for it? please help :(
After the new update, what do you think is better for light gaming, base Macbook Pro, or new Base Macbook Air?
Dont get this delivered many people complain that its too thin so as they often snap in the delivery box, if you do get one, pick it up
Nice video! And just wondering what are you going to do with your old MacBook Air?
Great unboxing, benchmarks in the next video?
i got one last week...came with 100gb of free space. I shouldve gotten the pro 13 inch for around 50 bucks more. Maybe it will grow on me.
Pro, for sure , or an air 13 inch, but with more options, but then you pay like 1600 dollars, a pro base model has everything you need
your voice is soothing to me
Awesome video! If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?
You know what I like in the unboxes? the fresh smell of a new item!!! ;P
What do you need it for? That matters a lot.
Should I buy this or the New Macbook Pro?
i have a question. Do you use all of your apple products?
They did, it was called the "MacBook." It was pulled out of production a few years ago.
I need that 1080p on my computers. If your phone's screen resolution is more than your computer resolution, it's a bad sign.
Hi JD. Here is the answer to your question. Firstly, both the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air are two very good laptops. The MacBook Pro is good for doing things that involve work. you said it right the first time, it was styrofoam covering the screen just a very thin sheet. :)
Getting a 13" one on Thursday & iphone 6 gold on Friday.
Getting 11 inch next Thursday because the 13 inch is too big. And got the iPhone 6s rose gold in October because the iPhone 6 sucks.
Can u show the review for the new MacBook pro with retina display as soon as possible, Please?
Would be good if you did a size comparison.
The new MagSafe looks like the old one when they first shipped the MacBooks.
When is the MacBook Pro with Retina video coming out? Can't wait!
i want one but im getting one next year so are they going to be new macbook airs???
I have watched this video at least 4 times.
I'm wondering if the upgrade from 1,7 ghz to 2,0 ghz would affect battery life much? 5 hours in itself is hardly good enough, I don't want it to drop down that much lower. the old ones were like that and the wire covering comes away because the cord tends to bend right where it meets with the mag part.
How much free disk space was on the 128GB SSD hard drive when you first turned it on and is that with iLife suite installed? the difference between pro and air is pretty much the dvd, because the difference is 0.3 GHz (in turbo boost)
Great video! I can't wait for you to get the MacBook Pro Retina so we can see that.
Is this a suitable laptop for university?
i'm going with 8gb of ram, I heard the i7 makes the air get quite hot. ram upgrades are not possible in the future so id go with that.
do you guys think the pro and the air are almost the same, speed wise.
