I’ve stopped at that truck stop behind you more times than I can remember coming from Muleshoe Texas on my way to deliver corn to a dairy in Burley Idaho. I love the four corners region. My love for that area brought me to your channel. I don’t drive a truck anymore so I have to live vicariously through your TH-cam content 😊

🇬🇧 When I went to live in Australia as a child with my parents, my school organised us with Pen Pals
& I received mine who was, I was delighted to find was an Aborigional girl called Jassy.
We used to meet up during school holidays as I lived in coastal Sydney
NSW & she lived right up north in Queensland.
I remember clearly when Jassy & her family took me to places, some ancient sacred sites & other amazing places.
The Petroglyphs & Pictographs were so brilliant, showing scenes from the Dream Time going back to 50,000 to 100,000 years.
Many sites hadn't been seen by white people but since i was just 12yrs & Jassy's tribal elders had made me an honourary tribal member & friend, i was allowed.
some of the rock art was breathtaking.
Great coloured Serpents with wings stretched across rock walls for 250 to 400 feet long
some Serpents showing Native Australians sitting on the backs of these huge multi coloured Serpents
They looked like little dolls sitting & dancing there, waving to the observer.
That was over 50years ago ( i came back to Britain 10 yrs later but have remained close to my REAL Australian friend since) It also was the start of my love of Aborigional culture, myth & legend
    its like no other culture.
ive so many books & posters & copies of the Rock Art on my walls
its been a life long love.
The Art is so different too.
a few images are pretty universal as in Anthropomorphs, but the rest is totally unique.
Its a shame Trek Planner couldnt get out to Queensland & other heritage sites & explore the Bush.
Also no-one knows how the Didgeredoo came about
its the most unusual sounding instrument, which relies on continuous " round" breathing to make the sound.
a breathing technique only known elsewhere in Ancient India for devotional sounds & hard to learn.
Thanks for your Amazing videos & respect for the land & culture of the ancestors.
    Peace & Good Cheer

Whoo-hooo! My old stomping grounds! I love this area and used to live just west of the San Rafael Swell. Can't tell you how much time my family and I would drive and hike around here. Happy times! 😁🏜⛺️🌄🌞🎉🪁
I wanted to add: back in my college days, during my archeological studies, my instructor was discussing the rock art in the area and why many think as to why the caulk outlines. Many tend to think, that back in the days of early photography, the photographer did that to make the pictographs "stand out" so as to make it be seen better on the primarily black and white film at the time. I don't know if it's true, it was just a view point at the time.
Also, if one goes down the Buckhorn Draw in the Swell, there is a huge rock art panel on the North side. If one looks, up on the upper right hand there is some old graffiti. It was put there by John Wesley Powell. Powell was one of the first explorer's to map that area and the Grand Canyon.

At the 20 min mark where "Black Dragon" is written on the rock with the arrow pointing to the jagged ridge line, that appears to be a dragon when viewed from a little further distance. Maybe that's what the elders thought too. The shown glyphs aren't from the same culture. One came along later, saw what the first culture did, then left some too. Would you have told the second culture "do not touch"? If a modern person wants to add to the human story too with a modern handprint in a respectful way that isn't wrong. It would just be 3 cultures that left art behind.

Hi again Jeff, a couple of things, your camera view was smooth and I wondered how you did that with the bouncing ride going out? I am so glad that I “met you” because you are so careful not to move, take, ruin things and to explain things so people understand why they should just simply leave things alone which to me is so normal but obviously not to many other people and I really appreciate that way that you are. Thank you so very much.
    Mark

I grew up in that area, a lot of memories of the shenanigans during my high school days. A lot of parties north of there. 😊

My wife and I visited there a couple years ago but didn't get a chance to go exploring like I'd have liked. Will definitely go back and get off road more.

😊😊😊 I love to see where the native Americans lived.
Its a shame that the land they fought so hard to keep. Was abandoned or stolen.
Lovely scenery. The drawings tell a story. The hand prints they left behing. The buildings on the edge of the cliff. Heart stopping. They must have been a great people. 🎉❤.

It is so sad that people are so selfish in that they have to destroy history.. I've yet to understand why..

I agree. One of my wife’s boyfriends works for the BLM and he has told us some wild stories. People can be extremely destructive. It’s sad.
