The band was just damn good. I even like the cd they put out with the new singer. Shannon Hoon was such presence, a voice like no other. A child like quality. I remember buying there cassette while visiting my Father in Woburn and the music store clerk telling me they are playing in Springfield Mass that weekend just one town over from Woburn. Wish we went. My Dad was a responsible hippie in his youth. He would have liked the show. I did see them years later when they opened for Lenny Kravitz. That was awesome though I was so stoned I was barely there. When I look back on younger self I don't know who that person was, I had no understanding of this world. I was barely there.
I have been looking for a good clip of the skeleton hand makeup that Shannon wore during his time on the SOUP tour. I was lucky enough to see him a bunch but the Tradewinds in Sea Girt, NJ was the time I remember most bc it was the last. I was so excited for Halloween in Philadelphia and my Birthday in NYC Irving Plaza but it was not meant to be.
Exactly! The band and label really need to get their heads out of the ass !! He also was stone cold sober before the tour started . So my thinking is 1. He really didn't want to tour . So after his gf and Nico left he started using to cope. 2. Rumor has it he got some 100% uncut pure Bolivian flake cocaine on the way to new Orleans . 3. Shannon's body had been abused for so long his poor heart couldnt take it anymore. The rehab even said he needed at least 6-12 months sober before touring . Apprently the label pushed him to tour .
